L'Arche in the UK is a registered charity and a regulated provider of care and support. Our 11 Communities in England, Scotland and Wales offer a varied mix of adult supported living, registered care, and day services.

Our UK annual turnover is about £20m. Well over a thousand people across the UK belong to a L'Arche Community, including about 300 people with learning disabilities and more than 700 employees and volunteers.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reports to: National Leader / CEO

Direct reports: HR Advisor, Head of Learning and Development

Salary: £72,800 (plus London weighting where appropriate)

Location: Hybrid, with 2-3 days a week in our London office, or in another L'Arche location. (If your base is outside London, you can expect to spend 2-3 days a month in the London office). The role includes regular travel to L'Arche Communities UK-wide, and to national meetings.

• Oversee development and implementation of an overall strategy for learning, development, and formation.

HR structures, strategy, and services

• Ensure L'Arche has the skills, policies, systems, and information for consistently good and compliant HR services and line management.
• Review and lead people functions across L'Arche, to ensure clear, coherent, and cost-effective HR services.
• Manage the HR team, Learning and Development team, and national HR and L&D budgets.
• Oversee the accuracy and relevance of admin and data systems.
• Oversee HR employee relations and whistleblowing across l'Arche.

Leadership

• Champion the mission of L'Arche and model our values.
• Contribute expertise on HR, inclusion, employment law and learning and development to wider discussions.

The opportunity has arisen to join the Senior Leadership team support staff in an exciting new role at the heart of philanthropic leadership at the University of Oxford. With an initial focus on supporting the fundraising activity of the Executive Director of Development, this new role will increase our capacity to secure multi-million-pound donations from across the globe.

About the Role

The main duties of this post will be the provision of high quality and efficient project management for the Senior Leadership team, including:

• Developing fundraising proposals, briefings and supporting materials for the SLT to use to promote funding opportunities to potential donors.
• Collating information and materials to provide reports for the SLT and other senior officers within the Pro Vice Chancellors’ and Vice Chancellor’s offices as needed for donor and volunteer cultivation, solicitations, stewardship and events.
• Managing donor reporting for key donors, liaising with academics and other key stakeholders to draft reports to donors. 
• Providing follow-up to any initiative which members of the SLT thinks must be tracked but which does not fall within the remit of any of the Development and Alumni Engagement teams, prompting members of the team about action as needed.

To Be Successful You’ll Need:

• Experience of providing a high level of project support in a fast-paced, complex organisation, ideally in a higher education or development environment
• An ability to act independently and decisively when the situation demands it.  Good judgement and the ability to acquire the knowledge necessary to support the task in hand in a timely manner
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, including a good command of the English language; the ability to be highly creative in producing materials and to understand how to articulate projects

The For Baby’s Sake Trust seeks to appoint a Deputy Director of Operations. The Deputy Director will work with the Director of Operations to lead programme development and delivery across the Trust. INTRODUCTION TO THE ROLE

Girls Not Brides is the only global organisation uniquely focused on creating and sustaining a worldwide movement to end child marriage and ensuring that this movement leads to tangible change for the girls at risk or affected by the practice. We are a network of over 1,400 civil society organisations in over 100 countries working in partnership to end child marriage. Our vision is a world without child marriage where girls and women enjoy equal status with boys and men and are able to achieve their full potential in all aspects of their lives. Our vision challenges deeply embedded social norms that harm the lives of girls, women and their communities.

The Director of External Engagement at Girls Not Brides devises and oversees implementation of fundraising, communications, advocacy & campaigns strategy to help realise Girls Not Brides’ vision of a world free of child marriage, where girls and women enjoy equal status to boys and men and can fulfil their potential in every aspect of their lives. Uses leadership skills and extensive experience of global and local fundraising, communications, campaigns and advocacy to support the organisation’s strategic objectives - movement building, influencing and learning - to empower others, opening spaces for voices to be raised, and drive transformational change. Works as part of a globally-dispersed and diverse team, and closely with members, National Partnerships and coalitions. Contributes to the organisational strategy as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE

Strategic planning and organisational leadership

• Lead the implementation of the Secretariat’s communications, advocacy and fundraising  strategies which deliver on the vision, mission and goals set out in the Secretariat and Partnership strategies, 2022-25.
• Set out how the team will use creative campaigning tactics, targeted policy and advocacy,impactful communications and fundraisning  to help build the movement to end child marriage, influence those with power to make change, and share evidence and learning.
• Contribute to broad organisational leadership and strategic development, as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
• Lead the communications, advocacy and fundraising teams, with up to five direct line reports, plus dotted line responsibilities.
• Responsible for planning and monitoring the directorate’s budget 
• Advise and inform the CEO, Board and other key stakeholders around key communications, advocacy and campaigns moments.

Empowered communications

• Support the globally-dispersed Girls Not Brides communications team to work with members to find and tell stories of girls’ lives and of the latest evidence and learning that exemplify the realities of child marriage and the solutions; demonstrate that change is needed, and change is happening.
• Work with the Communications team to leverage a wide range of communications channels, including media, website, social media, and events to convey the key messages and findings from Girls Not Brides’ work in a way that enables those without power to be heard, and convinces those with power to support positive change for girls. 
• Oversee and explore ways of landing Girls Not Brides stories and policy and campaign asks at the local, national, regional and international level in a way that is context specific and impactful. Be creative and unconventional in your use of content and tactics to reach, engage and influence target audiences.
• Lead the communications team in inspiring audiences to support and join the movement to end child marriage and Girls Not Brides, through documenting and showcasing the results of collective action and developing compelling calls to collective action.
• Oversee the work of the communications team to hone and harness the potential of the Girls Not Brides brand, history, and global network to inspire change and increase member engagement.

Effective advocacy

• Oversee and facilitate direct and indirect engagements with policymakers and decision makers at the local, national, regional and global level, as well as those who influence and advise to take action to end child marriage.
• Lead on ensuring strong synergies between advocacy at national, regional and global levels, coordinatoring between advocacy team members in the regions and the global advocacy team.
• Lead global stakeholder engagement including working with relevant UN organisations, sector leaders, and thematic international organisations to ensure that child marriage is reflected in their policies, budgets and programming.  
• Lead Girls Not Brides sector integration agenda, maintain strong existing partnerships, and identify new allies to enhance broader sector integration of ending child marriage.
• Support colleagues, National Partnerships and members to develop and use advocacy skills, and monitor, analyse, influence and respond to relevant legislative and policy opportunities at the global, regional and national level.
• Oversee production and dissemination of policy and advocacy content including fact sheets, policy briefs, updates, and position statements. 
• Oversee trainings and development programmes for the secretariat and global partnership, including webinars and learning series.

Transformational campaigns

• Grow and strengthen the movement, harness its potential, ensure Girls Not Brides connects, empowers and amplifies diverse groups around the world united behind a shared cause.
• Oversee Girls Not Brides’ work with local groups, activists, girls and their families to use campaigning and engagement to shift socio-cultural attitudes, including among elders and community leaders, about how girls can and should expect to be treated, respected and empowered.
• Work with the Adovocay team  to identify and plan for at least four big moments in the year, either at the global, regional or national level where members of the wider movement can come together to collaborate for change, engage young activists, and support and learn from each other.
• Work closely with the Development and Outreach team to support and deploy champions, ambassadors, youth leaders and high-profile influencers to advance the cause of ending child marriage.

Impactful fundraising

• Direct and lead the implementation of Girls Not Brides’ global and regional fundraising strategy for the secretariat and the wider movement, to ensure a diverse and sustainable income portfolio.
• Lead the creation and diversification of a business development plan, targeting new actors such as businesses, high-net-worth individuals, legacies, etc.
• Lead the cultivation and strengthening of donor relationships, alongside the CEO, to bring in new funding and grant renewals, build donors as champions. 
• Oversee and ensure long term projection for income, also overseeing pipeline and prospecting and directing the development of concept notes and proposals.
• Oversee the development of a case for support, multi-year funding opportunities.
• Make recommendations to the CEO in relation to funding decisions, and sign off documents for donors in line with delegated responsibilities.
• Close liaison with CEO, Director of Operations and Finance to help develop annual budgets, targets and a sustainable growth model.
• Direct the development of donor communications and assets, including but not limited to annual reports and promotional materials. 
• Assume responsibility for quality assurance on donor communications and collaborations.
• Contribute to the finance team’s work on contracting and compliance.

Influential outreach and visibility

• Lead the development of a strategic approach to building the secretariat’s visibility, partnerships and profile.
• Oversee the identification of strategic opportunities (including trips, events and media appearances) to profile the voices of Girls Not Brides’ internal leaders and external stakeholders to advocate on ending child marriage.
• Oversee the planning and convening of Girls Not Brides’ events and meetings calendar, as well as the high-profile visits to high prevalence and donor countries by the CEO, Champions, and Trustees.
• Alongside the CEO, lead and deepen the partnerships with the Girls First Fund and VOW for Girls at the global level.
• Oversee and lead the development and outreach team’s work to support and deploy champions, advisors, ambassadors, youth leaders and high-profile influencers to advance the cause of ending child marriage across sectors (including politics, business, grassroots activists and NGOs).
• Represent Girls Not Brides externally and further cultivate Girls Not Brides’ network of funders, supporters, Champions and Advisors.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential experience

• Significant professional experience in a comparable role at a senior level in the not-for-profit sector, international/intergovernmental organisation or social enterprise.
• Degree-level qualification in a relevant area such as public policy, development studies, international relations, communications, human rights or gender issues or proven experience in a related field plus extensive relevant professional training.
• Proven experience of working with coalitions and the ability to inform international policy discussions with the realities of grass-roots work.
• A proven track record of successfully developing and implementing a fundraising strategy and raising significant levels of funding for an organisation.
• Broad experience in communications, development and outreach work, building and nurturing strong working relationships with a range of strategic partners.
• Experience of partnership building with stakeholders such as government ministries, NGOs, foundations, grass-roots groups, and champions of social change.
• Proven experience of working with coalitions and the ability to inform international communications with the realities of grass-roots work.
• Experience of successfully managing teams, including geographically dispersed staff. 

Essential skills and knowledge

• Advanced and demonstrable understanding of strategic planning, resource mobilisation and communications.
• Demonstrated ability and understanding of how to deliver effective advocacy and/or communications and/or fundraising, development and outreach strategies on global social issues that align with and further an organisation’s strategic goals.

The Director of Programmes will contribute to The Africa Centre’s emerging strategic priorities, overseeing and delivering programmes and related project activity. They will engage and connect with diverse audiences and communities through creative programming, delivering innovative, enriching, dynamic and enjoyable events and experiences that entre people of African descent and reach the widest demographic. They will play a leading role in delivering our learning and inclusion work, developing audiences, existing and new, and oversee all The Africa Centre programme activity across the UK, on the African continent and in the wider African Diaspora.

As part of the Senior Leadership team, they will play an important part in driving the vision, mission, and values of The Africa Centre as a world-leading organisation at the forefront of debate, dialogue, and social purpose around our five core pillars of arts & culture, education, community development, entrepreneurship & innovation and thought leadership. Through innovative programme development, they will ensure that the urgent issues faced by people of African descent are reflected and addressed in The Africa Centre’s activity profile. They will ensure that The Africa Centre is a place of fun, connection, education and information, relevant to all people with an interest in Africa and African people.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Strategic Leadership

• Oversee, convene and deliver TAC programmes, developing live and digital content in line with our strategic priorities.
• Fulfil the leadership role of contributing to the development of The Africa Centre’s emerging strategy.
• Lead and convene programme development and content delivery, ensuring commercial, artistic, operational and audience development objectives are met for both live and digital events.
• Draw on audience segmentation, communications and brand strategies to strategically align programme to audience and our income generation objectives.
• Work collegiately with the Senior Leadership Team to develop and deliver The Africa Centre’s Audience Development Strategy linked to the programme and strategic objectives.
• Identify opportunities to apply for funding and contribute to income generation activities related to programming and engagement.
• Lead on developing and delivering high quality experiences for artists and experts across all our activities, ensuring they are supported and nurtured.
• Establish a strategy for identifying, supporting, and nurturing new creative talent.

Programme Leadership

• Oversee the development, implementation, monitoring and reporting of any contracted work that delivers programmes of activities in the UK and abroad,

• Maintain existing and develop new audiences, identifying programme strands that respond to and anticipate the needs and interests of diverse communities, introducing new ideas, innovative content and inclusive talent pathways.
• Seek out, develop, and sustain networks, stakeholders and partnerships at local, regional and global levels, and explore new ways for the charity to grow and develop at the cutting edge of global ideas

Operational

• Line manage the programme, education and engagement team(s), recruiting, as necessary, skilled persons to deliver TAC programmes.
• Manage the delivery of contracts and partnership collaborative efforts, ensuring that contracting is delivered to the highest standards at all times to protect the reputation and financial standing of the charity and to meet contractor’s expectations.
• Identify potential funders relevant to area and contribute to writing business plans demonstrating a seamless relationship between content, programmes, events, audiences, and the core business activities
• Support the work of the Director of Development Team in developing and delivering the fundraising strategy and the Director of Finance & Operations on delivering TAC financial plans

Governance & Compliance

• Write reports for the board as and when required by the CEO in a timely and appropriate manner
• Work with the Director of Finance & Ops to ensure the financial health and sustainability of the charity in delegated budget area(s), adhere to TAC Financial Regulations and Procurement Policy.
• Ensure that all artist contracting is undertaken within TAC procurements and contracting policies observing all other required policies and statutory guidelines e.g., Equalities, Safeguarding, Health and Safety, Intellectual Property, GDPR, Finance and Procurements etc.
• Maintain accurate records on The Africa Centre’s document management system and databases.
• Respond to general enquiries by email or telephone, manage own workload and maintain an online diary, using agreed TAC systems.

Leadership

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

• A clearly-evidenced long-standing passion for Africa and people of African Descent
• 3 - 5 years working at a senior level in a similar role
• Excellent Programme Management experience with excellent budget management skills
• Excellent communication and networking skills, adept at effectively engaging people across a range of settings – from school children to Prime Ministers and Presidents;
• Educated to degree level of equivalent (relevant subject area)
• Team player, able to work cross disciplinary with artists, experts, academics, key stakeholders, and audiences in a programming function working with diverse audiences
• Specialist knowledge of audience development gained through 3 years’ experience
• Agile approach to work, recognising the limitations and challenges of running a small charitable organisation and willingness to work flexibly to get things done, apply effort and integrity at all times. Regular weekend and evening work will be required.
• Experience of working with an operations team to deliver events (production, tech requirements, artist management)
• Experience of delivering to funder obligations (Trusts and Foundations/Public and Private Funding) • Excellent network in publishing; cultural and creative sector; or other relevant sectors
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs, et al.

Desirable

• Understanding and experience of digital content production
• Masters level qualification or equivalent
• Awareness of how to use emerging technologies including AI to develop impactful programming and engagement.

Work Arrangements

Location: The Africa Centre office, London. Occasional remote working is encouraged. The post-holder will be required to be on location in London for relevant activities. Some international travel will be required.

Hours of work: Full time. 35 hours per week. The post holder will be expected to be flexible and there will be requirements to work such days and hours that may vary in accordance with business requirements, including regular evenings and weekends and occasional holiday periods.

3. Developing and maintaining an annual calendar of community fundraising activities.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and committed Business Development Manager to join our growing charity. Responsible for winning new business and retaining existing contracts to achieve financial and growth targets, this is a pivotal role at Kinship. Inter Mediate is one of the world’s leading independent conflict resolution organisations. Operating out of London, it works in conflict zones around the world to support peace negotiations and advise on strategies to stop and prevent wars. This is an exciting opportunity to join its small, expert projects team as a Project Development Officer, supporting Inter Mediate’s Project Directors to advance peace negotiations with a special focus on conflicts in the Middle East and Africa.  

 Role summary

The Project Development Officer (PDO) will work within the Inter Mediate Projects Team under the guidance of the Projects Directors and coordination with the Deputy CEO, Operations Team and CEO, to:

• Support and implement Inter Mediate’s existing projects portfolio supporting peace talks and other high-level peace initiatives.
• Build and manage relationships with senior stakeholders in conflict and peace processes, mainly in Africa and the Middle East
• Identify and develop entry points for new projects.
• Monitor and analyse political developments across areas relevant to Inter Mediate’s work.
• Research lessons from past peace efforts relevant to Inter Mediate’s current work.
• Support the Operations Team and Project Directors to prepare project proposals and budgets, narrative and financial reporting, and collect evidence of project impact.

Specific responsibilities:

•  Contribute to strategies to deliver Inter Mediate projects and institutional priorities.
• Support the Project Directors to cultivate and maintain relationships with key interlocutors and relevant experts in the field.
• Undertake travel, including to conflict settings.
• Draft high quality policy memos, speeches and concept notes for senior audiences.
• Provide logistical support for project delivery, including managing travel of project teams, interlocutors and consultants.
• Monitor media, think tanks and other analysis centres on conflict dynamics, and produce briefings and analytic papers for the CEO ahead of travel or engagement with key interlocutors.
• Oversee production of research papers on peacemaking lessons, based on demand from interlocutors.
• Scope for potential new projects and develop new project feasibility studies.
• Support the Project Directors and Operations Team in donor management and project accountability, including contributing to preparation of project proposals and budgets, and reporting in line with donor requirements.
• Compile project progress reports for senior management/trustees’ meetings.
• Represent IM in external contexts where necessary.
• Undertake other tasks in support of IM’s work overall as required.

Experience, qualifications and skills:

 Successful candidates would need to demonstrate:

• A masters degree in politics, conflict resolution and peacebuilding, international affairs, public policy or an equivalent subject. Relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu.
• Three years of work experience in conflict resolution or peace process support for a governmental, non-governmental or inter-governmental organisation, or an equivalent field such as diplomacy, humanitarian access, political risk advisory services, conflict journalism or conflict analysis. Experience relevant to West Africa and Middle East preferred.
• Excellent written English, and evidence of ability to produce high-quality written work to deadline.
• A strong understanding of political and conflict dynamics – particularly Africa and the Middle East - and the ability to produce well-structured and concise analysis
• Ability to operate successfully in high pressure, sensitive political environments and support high-level individuals
• Experience of work and travel in conflict-affected areas, and willingness to travel independently, with support from the Project Directors.
• Evidence of strong cross-cultural interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility and adaptability to support the smooth running of a small team, and willingness to take an “all hands on deck” approach when required.
• Fluency in French and/or Arabic or other languages (desirable)

Business Development Manager – Environmental Markets

This role will develop that connection in the fast moving sector of Nature Finance, Business Development and Nature Based Solutions working with others who are creatively and systematically looking for solutions which will connect Surrey’s wildlife at a landscape level.

We are building an innovative new team focused on county wide recovery and green finance investment within the county of Surrey. This role will also manage the Trust’s internal and external processes around Nature (green) Finance and drive forward investment in nature at a landscape level.  

As a senior role reporting into the Director of Business Development and Partnerships; practical experience of green finance including biodiversity net gain is essential; experience will also need to include demonstrable examples of project managing medium/large scale projects, contract management, financial analysis and working in a fast paced environment.

Ambitious for the future and conscious that there are just 1,069 mountain gorillas left in the world, this new role will add significant capacity to the existing team, helping us to deliver on our annual business plan, driving our income generating activities, monitoring our performance and impact, delivering value to our donors, stakeholders, and the communities we serve, and overseeing day-to-day operations.

All of which will require an individual passionate about Africa and the plight of gorillas, who is inspired by our approach to protecting gorillas and their natural habitat through community involvement and who comes to the role with a proven track record of success in fundraising, good financial acumen, excellent engagement, presentation, and people skills, and the ability to manage our day-to-day operations.
