Permanent Head Of Community Fundraising Jobs

This role will see the successful candidate manage and develop a portfolio of successful national events. You will be involved in all aspects of the project management cycle from marketing and participant recruitment to supporter stewardship and race day logistics. With support of the Senior Fundraising Manager (Events & Community) you will prepare and track budgets for your assigned events and continuously look for opportunities to improve income and participant retention.

The role requires a good attention to detail, strong prioritization skills, sensitivity and flexibility. Whether you come with direct events fundraising experience or have transferable skills that the role requires, we will support and develop you to excel in your role.

Meningitis Research Foundation is based in Bristol, but the role is flexible and is open to remote working with monthly visits to the office (this will need to be more regular during events season). We offer an annual salary of £23,000-£28,000 (job titles and salary banding currently under review), 6% employer pension contribution and employee assistance program alongside annual leave of 25 days per year. You will report directly to the Senior Fundraising Manager (Events and Community) within the Fundraising Team. Key Responsibilities

· Manage a portfolio of national events including TCS London Marathon and Great North Run executing the planning, delivery and evaluation of these events

· Inspire individuals with a connection to the cause to take on events for Meningitis Research Foundation to support our vision of a world free from meningitis

· Deliver marketing and recruitment strategies to ensure we reach our targeted number of participants for each event

· Deliver best in class stewardship (across phone, email, SMS and post) to all supporters ensuring they have the best experience with Meningitis Research Foundation

· Work with the Senior Fundraising Manager (Events & Community) to ensure we maximize income potential from each event through improving key performance indicators i.e. average value

· Develop the events portfolio by evaluating and monitoring current products and seeking out new events when appropriate

· Manage relationships with external partners including event companies, logistical suppliers and fundraising platforms

· Work with the Communications Team and Senior Fundraising Manager (Events & Community) to identify strong supporter stories and PR opportunities

· Seek opportunities to share knowledge and learning with other members of the Events & Community Team

· Identify supporters with high value potential (i.e. corporate or major donor) and ensure they are shared with the Head of Fundraising

· With the support of the Senior Fundraising Manager (Events & Community)  create and deliver budgets and KPIs targets for your area ensuring you monitor and report on progress against these budgets and KPIs

Skills and experience required

· Strong project management skills and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

· Good organisational and administrative skills, able to prioritise, juggle multiple tasks and work to deadlines

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-growing and established health and social care charity. As a Grant and Community Fundraiser, you will play a pivotal role in our Fundraising team, helping us secure the funding necessary to sustain and enhance our vital services, primarily in the Bedfordshire area. Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9 - 5/5.30, hybrid working with travel across our services, which are based around London, Brighton, Kent, Essex, Luton, Bedford, Liverpool, and Nottingham. For this position, most of the travel will be within Bedfordshire. This role will be based from our Penrose Synergy office in Luton.

What we are looking for:

• Previous experience in a similar role with similar responsibilities, this can include in a fundraising and/or sales capacity which has direct transferrable skills.  
• IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, advanced knowledge in Microsoft, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability and willingness to travel to various services and locations for visits and events
• Ability to carry out research and lead on outreach and partnership building initiatives in various locations which can include locations of rural communities

OVERVIEW OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

FUNDRAISING

• Be a point of contact for fundraising, ensuring a positive experience for funders and managing financial transactions to agreed fundraising policies and processes.
• Develop a regional Grant Programme, focusing on unrestricted income and feeding into fundraising management reporting. 
• Identify, research, and communicate income and partnership opportunities, working proactively with colleagues across the Group to scope fundable initiatives that provide added value. 
• Work alongside the team to develop high-quality grant funding applications, cases for support, and budgets. Complete the end-to-end process, ensuring all applications are thorough and competitive.
• Oversee grant reporting and invoicing, ensuring prompt fulfilment in line with all grant agreements and reporting requirements, liaising with relevant teams across the Group. 
• Plan, implement and manage various campaigns and activities, which may include but are not limited to local events, national events, outreach, and fundraising opportunities.

PARTNERSHIP BUILDING

• Attend networking events to build engagement and partnerships with local and national organisations.
• Build a rolling calendar of charity of the year application deadlines. Provide excellent stewardship, using innovative ways to keep all parties engaged and informed of relevant news and updates by SIG.
• Support partners in fundraising endeavours and signposting to new and existing opportunities.

We're looking for an ambitious and proactive Head of Development to join our small, passionate team and support the delivery of our mission.

About the Role

The Head of Development will work closely with the CEO, Head of Programmes & Funding and Head of Operations & Finance, as part of the SLT, setting the strategy and taking responsibility for income generation across Frank Water including charitable fundraising as well as  commercial sales and development through our Social Enterprise.

You will lead an integrated communications strategy which includes thought leadership, brand development, communicating impact, agreeing marketing messaging of commercial opportunities and of fundraising opportunities.

You will play a pivotal role in integrating income generation across the charity and the social enterprise, setting and driving the strategy to increase income from fundraising and communications, and developing delivery of the social enterprise services and products. 

Your team, who you’ll work with and line manage to deliver the strategy comprises the Fundraising & Communications Manager, Corporate Partnerships Manager and Commercial Manager. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure a diverse and balanced income portfolio to include philanthropy, legacy fundraising, community and individual giving, corporates, events and commercial (including income from products, services and festival activity via the social enterprise).

• Own and manage the Major Donor portfolio and stewardship.

• Set and manage the annual income generation budget, including regular re-forecasting.

• Lead on Frank Water’s communications and marketing strategy

• Manage key fundraising and communications risks and lead on fundraising compliance and GDPR for the organisation

• Line manage the Commercial Manager and Fundraising and Communications team with a professional and enabling approach that encourages a collaborative and supportive culture

• Ensure consistent and high-quality stewardship of donors, volunteers and partners across the organisations

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have experience in income generation through fundraising and/or through commercial channels, with a proven track record in securing 6 figure gifts and/or contracts. You will be entrepreneurial and dynamic, keen to make your mark and develop sustainable income streams to enable increased impact for the environment and communities we work with. You are a natural relationship manager with high emotional intelligence and a proven track record of managing teams with a professional, enabling style.

You will be proactive, organised, and an excellent communicator with strong attention to detail. You will have proven your communications skills and have a gift for quickly building strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You are self-motivated, tenacious, and solutions focussed.

It is essential you’re passionate about social and environmental change and you will be keen to develop an understanding of all aspects of our work. You are able to travel throughout the UK when required to meet donors and partners (TOIL where appropriate). There will be opportunities to visit our projects overseas and you will be comfortable to travel for up to two weeks at a time when these opportunities arise.

You’ll have experience, or be ready to take on the challenge of working in a small, dynamic and ambitious organisation where the scope of work is broad and you’re happy to work on all levels, where days often include both strategic meetings and getting ‘stuck in’ with the team.

You’ll be able to work from our central Bristol office at least one day a week, enabling face to face working with the team and opportunity to support the SLT in building a collaborative and supportive culture.
