You will be one of the first people that those using Mental Health Together will meet, so you will have a strong commitment to ensuring that this first experience is positive, being a strong communicator as well as showing compassion.
This role is part of the newly established Kent & Medway service, Mental Health Together (MHT) for which Porchlight is one of the strategic partners; this is the transformed multi-agency offer, which brings all the services and agencies that support people with varying mental health needs much closer together. This ensures that people get the right care, without having to navigate service boundaries and without repeatedly telling their story.
As part of one team of professionals from across different organisations that make up Mental Health Together, you will value partnership and collaboration, recognising the different skills and understanding that each person brings to the team.
This role is perfect for individuals with significant experience of working within a community mental health and or wellbeing setting, working with individuals with complex mental health needs to help them achieve their goals. As well as understanding how mental health systems work, you will have good insight into local services and support, and how social factors can affect mental health.
The role requires:
- You have significant experience within a community mental health and wellbeing setting.
- You will have the ability to listen to and understand people with complex mental health needs to find out what is important to them, and then make a plan together that they can achieve.
- You will value working as a team to get the best possible outcomes for people, particularly where things have not always worked in the past.
- You are passionate about improving people’s experience of mental health services.
Working pattern: 9am to 5pm with some flexibility required. Working days negotiable to be agreed upon appointment between Monday to Friday.

The purpose of the role
The Development Events Manager’s role is to organise a portfolio of events and support of larger annual fundraising events. They are responsible for creating and delivering a variety of events that align with supporter benefits, in order to engage potential supporters and further develop relationships with existing supporters. The role works collaboratively with the fundraising and membership teams in the department, to best meet the needs of supporters and maximise income.
The successful candidate will have experience of managing events and strong project management skills. They will be used to working in a fast-paced environment and to managing multiple events simultaneously.

New Horizon Youth Centre runs a busy day centre from Monday to Friday, providing basic needs to young people experiencing homelessness and a one-stop-shop for housing advice, youth work activities, counselling, jobs, education and training support. The Services Manager (Day Centre) is a brand new role for the organisation. They will work as part of the existing Youth Work Team to provide vital additional capacity and expertise to respond to the significantly increased demand we have been experiencing. This role is primarily focused on delivering our frontline day centre service each week. You will spend around 2-3 days per week frontline as our Duty Manager ensuring the smooth running of the day centre. You’ll also be responsible for coordinating our weekly rota, line managing the team, overseeing our Locums, Students and Volunteers programme, supporting with donations and day centre stock, and delivering staff training . You should be passionate about supporting young people who are unsafe or facing homelessness, be able to motivate a multi-disciplinary team of staff and have the energy to problem solve in a fast-paced environment on a daily basis.

New Horizon Youth Centre has been commissioned by the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) as part of an Alliance with Safer London, St Giles Trust and the Anna Freud Centre to deliver on their Children and Young People’s Violence and Exploitation and Reduction support service. The commission will run from June 2024 for three years. As part of this, an additional service will be set up within the NHYC Youth Justice team specifically to deliver on the Alliance contract. The Services Manager will be the key operational lead for the Alliance, and oversee successful delivery of housing casework services to young people fleeing violence and exploitation who are referred in. We are excited to be recruiting for a newly created role of Service Manager for Children and Young Adults to significantly grow the provision we have for 5 - 25 year olds.
We offer a range of services for children as young as 5, up to and through transitioning into adult services. You will be working alongside the Adult services and Development Manager to ensure joined up working.
Along with the daily management of staff, you will have a strategic overview of the services and have the ability to work with those involved to make changes to meet local need, which will include the development of new services.

Main purpose of job:
- Responsible for the efficient and safe provision of individual and group support for children and young people.
- Development of significant new provision to meet current and future need. This will include the provision of ‘alternative education’, after school/evening activities and increased capacity of weekend services.
- Collaboration with the Adult Service (Development) Manager to enable seamless transition across services.
- Development of strong links with potential referrers/commissioners and partners. To ensure Nottingham Mencap becomes a relevant provider of choice of a wide range of children’s services across the county.

Main tasks of job:
1. Operational management of current and future group activities for children and young people. Ensure they are appropriately staffed, meet needs and of a high standard within a safe and healthy environment.
2. Support to, and supervision of, the Short Breaks Co-ordinators to deliver well-managed and expanding services.
3. Development of new services/groups, changes to current activities, and the stopping of those no longer viable. These will include the provision of ‘alternative education’, after school/evening activities and increase in capacity of weekend services.
4. Financial/budget management of new and existing services including identifying and securing new sources of income.
5. Ensure demonstrable quality outcomes are developed for those who attend.
6. Joint responsibility (with the Adult Services Manager) to ensure our services are integrated and seamless and champion the needs of young people transitioning into adulthood.
7. Create a positive and motivational environment which allows the staff team, and the young people we support, to thrive.
8. Focus on each individual’s potential and making a positive difference to young people’s lives, ensuring they progress towards achieving their aspirations.
9. Embrace a culture of change and improvement. Instigate measures to improve access and quality. Maintain a focus on increasing the number and diversity of people who attend our services.
10. Develop and maintain quality/performance matrixes to satisfy internal and external scrutiny. Ensure adherence to standards required by the CQC and Ofsted.
11. Ensure all staff are offered appropriate training and that staff are trained to carry out their respective roles.
12. Recruitment, employment, supervision, and appraisals of staff team. Proactive management of annual leave, sickness, absence, and other personnel related issues.
13. Work alongside Finance and the Admin team to ensure systems accurately track financial and activity data. Ensure services are delivered within budget and relevant documentation is completed for the production of reports for internal and external inspection.
14. Ensure group environments are sensitive to individual needs and relevant assessments (including risk) have been undertaken and communicated to all relevant workers.
15. Ensure effective communication with others, including referrers, social workers, keyworkers, and carers. Establish effective feedback mechanisms with children, young people, and their families. Ensure the development of positive relationships with parents/carers is enshrined within our values and processes.
16. Proactively liaise with current and potential future commissioners/funders. Ensure availability of high quality and personally tailored services to address the personalisation agenda and attract those seeking a range of support options via personal budgets.
17. Robust implementation of policies and procedures adopted by Nottingham Mencap
18. Participation in relevant activities and meetings across the organisation. Act as a fully participative member of the senior management team.

As the Fundraising and Engagement Manager you will be responsible for developing and implementing fundraising strategy to achieve diversification and growth of income generation. With a strong current network of engaged individual givers, this role will be moving the organisation into new income streams whilst continuing existing individual giving income.
To be successful as the Fundraising and Engagement Manager you will have proven experience in leading fundraising strategy and development. You will also have experience of securing income across a range of income streams, ideally including high value income streams. This person will be confident in working with key internal and external stakeholders to deliver fundraising projects and campaigns, but also happy to led and work autonomously.
This role is a full-time permanent position that will have hybrid working at their offices in Reading. The salary for this role is £55k to £60k.
