Executive Officer: Ministerial Oversight

The Methodist Church is seeking an Executive Officer to support the processes relating to ministerial oversight. Working alongside the Ministerial Coordinator for the Oversight of Ordained Ministries, you will be providing executive support to the candidating processes, the Ministerial Candidates and Probationers Oversight Committee, the Ministers of other Conferences and Churches programme and arranging for ordination services. The role will offer high level support to the Ministerial Coordinator for the Oversight of Ordained Ministries on a wide range of matters including the convening of committees and preparing papers.

The Role

This role serves as the strategic lead of the European ecosystem, including the UK, overseeing strategies to ensure this powerful movement is growing, is supported, and is being nurtured across communities, countries, leveraging and building power with key actors.
This role understands the nuance of targeted campaigns, how to win them, the context of the big picture, and then designs strategies to intersect the short and long term to build actionable plans for maximum impact.

Working collaboratively across Europe and globally, you will lead the development and implementation of Europe's movement strategy – understanding our campaigns, leading power mapping, understanding constituency and context needs, running experiments, and distributing grants. You will create and recruit new partnerships and groups from new and diverse constituencies, growing their skills and capacities.

Skills Required

You don’t need experience in fossil finance or climate – you can be a leader in your own field of environmental or social justice, such as trade unions, faith or youth groups, community organisations, worker bodies, etc. You’re a strategic, experienced, and collaborative campaign leader and relational organiser, with a passion for winning campaigns and growing regional movements. You have a nuanced understanding of how systemic change happens and can take a long-term view of power and power building in order to deliver short term wins. Your career includes creative corporate and political regional and local campaigns, including winning or iterating on campaigns through diverse stakeholder strategies.

You enjoy working across the political spectrum, or different theories of change, and understand what it takes to build trust, nurture creativity and unleash the potential of individuals and groups. Duties and key responsibilities 
• Support the Head of Institutional Funding in the development and delivery of an 
institutional funding strategy. 
• Identify, prospect and approach institutional donors to secure funds, maintain 
successful working relationships with a portfolio of institutional donors, utilise the client

Key Duties and Responsibilities

General

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Financial Controller to oversee all financial aspects of both Ethex and Energise Africa. Reporting to the CFO, the Financial Controller will be a key member of the senior management teams, responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timely delivery of financial information for both entities. This role requires a good understanding of accounting standards, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to contribute strategically to the growth and sustainability of both Ethex and Energise Africa. The ideal candidate will be passionate about the missions and values of both organisations and comfortable working in a dynamic and purpose-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Reporting:

• Oversee financial accounting for both companies, working with our finance assistant, who is responsible for book-keeping, banking, AR and AP.

• Prepare accurate and timely management accounts.

• Manage the process for production of the annual report and accounts for both entities, liaising with external accountants / auditors and ensuring timely completion.

• Prepare and present financial reports and analysis to the respective senior management teams, Boards of Directors and funders of Ethex and Energise Africa.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

• Lead the annual budgeting processes for both organisations, working collaboratively with departmental heads to develop realistic and achievable budgets.

• Develop and maintain financial forecasting models to support strategic decision-making for both entities.

• Monitor budget performance, analyse variances, and provide insightful commentary and recommendations for both Ethex and Energise Africa.

Cash Flow Management:

• Manage the cash flow of both companies, ensuring sufficient liquidity to meet operational needs and strategic objectives.

• Develop and implement strategies for optimising cash flow and working capital across both entities, considering any intercompany transactions.

Tax & Compliance:

• Stay up to date and ensure compliance with all relevant tax legislation and accounting standards.

• Prepare quarterly VAT returns.

• Check corporation tax returns prepared by external accountants.

Systems & Processes:

• Continuously review and improve systems, processes, and controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy and safeguard the assets of both entities.

• When applicable, oversee the implementation accounting software and other relevant financial tools for both organisations.

Stakeholder Management:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including accountants, banks, non-executive directors and funders.

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience.

Our approach to hybrid working

If you have great digital competence, including the use of AI to summarise information, are an excellent storymaker able to understand an audience, quickly synthesize information and pitch in writing for success, or an early-career fundraiser ready to develop, in this role you will make a difference and work as part of a creative successful team. Understanding how to keep our ask fresh and steward these relationships is key.  You will inherit a portfolio of trust and grant funders who have committed support over the long term and a portfolio that delivers at least £180k in income each year. You will work with colleagues on well-established campaigns like The Big Give and support experienced volunteers who handle small grants. The Green House is the only specialist service in Bristol, Bath & Northeast Somerset and 
South Gloucestershire supporting children, young people, and families who have experienced 
sexual abuse.

In 2022, we transitioned from a single therapy option to a whole family, community-based model which provides a more accessible and comprehensive approach to support, whilst reducing wait times by 63%. Though we deliver a local service, our work is influencing the national response to child sexual abuse. We provide national training on pre-trial therapy and survivor-led leadership programmes. Purpose of the job

The Green House’s VOICE change-making project aims to support young survivors and their family members to lead social change through creativity. Together, we aim to break the silence and create systemic change around child sexual abuse. Our approach recognises the inherent strengths and possibility of all young people. We develop creative spaces where young people can connect with their community, grow beyond traumatic experiences and learn to lead services like ours, alongside national social change. We see creative change-making and connecting those with lived experience together as imperative to healing. It is the hope for change that helps young people and their families to learn to live a whole life alongside traumatic experiences and step into their potential.

The VOICE Project has two workstreams: Young People’s VOICE and Parent/Carer VOICE. We work with young people to deliver a creative arts leadership programme (6 weekly group), alongside creative drop-in spaces, individual projects and paid-for mentorship opportunities. We work with our Parent/Carer VOICE group to deliver monthly group sessions, parent-led drop-in spaces and individual projects. The VOICE Project also leads our national child sexual abuse (CSA) practitioner network.

This is an exciting time to join the Green House VOICE Project, we have just secured national funding for the first time and are looking for a Senior VOICE Practitioner to lead development and expansion of the programme.

Duties and responsibilities

1. Lead on delivery of the Young People’s VOICE Groups (6 weekly), working with the VOICE Practitioner to support young people to develop group/individual projects and campaigns within each group cycle.

2. Lead on the development of the Parent/Carer VOICE group, co-producing with Parents/Carers and the Senior Leadership Team a new approach to the (currently) monthly programme.

3. Collaborate with the Family Support Team and Therapy Team to deliver regular drop-in spaces for Parents/Carers (“Turn-Up Tuesdays”) and Nature-Based Therapy drop-in spaces (“NBT Drop In”).

4. Lead on the delivery and expansion of CSA Practitioner network for wider professionals, creating opportunities to connect young people’s groups together nationally.

5. Work with the Head of Fundraising and Trustee Board to develop and deliver a quarterly co-production group of young people and parents who can support operational delivery/development of the Green House.

6. Lead on the development of a theory of change for the VOICE Project, working with the VOICE Practitioner, young people, parents/carers and SLT.

7. Work with the Research Manager and VOICE Practitioner to develop our approach to outcome monitoring and evaluation of the VOICE Project.

8. Lead on project management of the VOICE Project, including weekly team meetings, project plans, annual revision of associated documentation e.g., manuals, session plans. Working collaboratively with and taking responsibility for line management of the VOICE Practitioner.

9. Coordinate on VOICE young people led activism campaigns, working with the Communications Officer and Head of Fundraising and Communications towards the delivery of two campaigns per year.

10. Conduct Initial Meetings for young people and parent/carer’s looking to join the VOICE Project – supporting the wider TGH team with recruitment reminders/approaches e.g., attending Family Support/Therapy Team meetings (where appropriate).

11. Develop relationships with our local and national partners to enable effective changemaking for young people and parents/carers.

12. Assess risk and report safeguarding concerns in line with the Green House Policies, main up-to-date safeguarding training, and stay informed on relevant legislation about child sexual abuse and procedures.

13. Maintain accurate, confidential records of all sessions and family contacts, ensuring timely documentation using internal systems e.g., Oasis. 14. Support wider Green House service development, participate in supervision, clinical supervision and training, adhere to Green House policies, and contribute to team communication and operational improvements.

Working Well Trust is a mental health and employment charity in London.  All of our projects share the aim of improving the lives of people with mental health support needs, physical disabilities, learning disabilities and/or complex issues through training and employment. This role will be working with clients who have mental or physical health support needs, wanting to gain paid employment.

We are recruiting employment support workers for a new primary care Individual Placement and Support (IPS) employment service in the London Borough of Enfield.

Experience of employment support is not essential, it is more important that you share our passion and commitment to supporting people to find the right job for them. You will receive training on the IPS model and in supporting people with mental and physical health issues. No prior experience in IPS is required. The role we are recruiting for is as follows: 

Full time: 35 hours per week - these roles will be based onsite in the community 4 days per week and work from home 1 day.

You will work with clients (managing a caseload) who have mental or physical health support needs, to assist them in securing sustainable paid employment in line with their preferences. You will deliver the IPS approach (for which training will be given); providing person centred support and guidance to clients, whilst building positive relationships with local employers to enable clients to move into suitable employment. We are looking for a passionate and effective Autistic Lived Experience Trainer to support us to deliver an exciting new programme of work. We have been commissioned by an NHS organisation to deliver and support the roll out of autism-informed care training to all staff working in their mental health inpatient settings. This programme of work will run for 9 months, and will include the delivery of various half day and full day autism-informed training sessions both in-person and online. We will also be working closely with Experts by Experience to become skilled and confident in delivery of this training to support the organisational sustainability of this knowledge. The programme of work will also embed an evaluation of the training to demonstrate learning and impact.

The Autistic Lived Experience Trainer will be working closely alongside our Lived Experience Lead to deliver all aspects of the programme, with support from our wider staff team.

• Co-facilitate training sessions both online and in-person to staff from various professions and in various roles across mental health in-patient settings.
• Deliver pre-prepared content and facilitate reflective conversations.
