About Us
Our client is the central charity which supports the federation of 46 independent Trusts working for nature’s recovery across the UK, Alderney and the Isle of Man. The Trusts’ vision is of a thriving natural world, with abundant wildlife and healthy natural habitats playing a valued role in addressing the climate and ecological emergencies, and everyone inspired to take action for nature’s recovery.
Collectively, The Trusts have more than 900,000 members, employ 3,500 staff, look after over 2,300 nature reserves, operate 123 visitor and education centres and own 29 working farms. The role of the trust is to ensure a strong voice for wildlife at a UK level and to provide strategic leadership, support and development for The Trusts. They provide shared expertise in areas such as climate change, digital fundraising, nature-based solutions, policy and safeguarding. They facilitate UK-wide communities of practice to share learning and replicate successful approaches so that together they are more than the sum of their parts. They support the individual Trusts to be a strong force for nature in their local areas and to work together to achieve even greater impact as a collective.
The Trusts are on a mission to bring about a people-powered nature and climate recovery by empowering people to take meaningful action for nature, and to create an inclusive society where nature matters to everyone, everywhere. They are ambitious in their desire not just to slow, but to reverse the declines in nature.
About You
They are looking for a highly motivated individual with experience in business planning or rural estate management with a passion for nature and entrepreneurial spirit to support the acquisition and management planning of new nature reserves in Wales which help restore Celtic rainforest and other important habitats.
Nature conservation is changing, in the face of the biodiversity and climate crises no longer is it sufficient to protect existing habitats but instead we must look to restore nature at scale in order to ensure it’s survival. To meet this challenge, the nature reserves of the future must also adapt; new sites must become resilient both ecologically and financially. This means utilising a wide variety of funding streams and carefully considering restoration interventions, all whilst making these sites as engaging and accessible as possible. This post will work alongside the Rainforest Restoration Programme team to ensure that new rainforest sites support nature recovery and improve the resilience of the Trusts in Wales. By showcasing these new sites, they can act as powerful advocacy tools that support nature beyond their own boundaries thereby maximising the positive impact of the programme for nature and for communities.
The Atlantic Rainforest Restoration Programme is a £38.9 million, 100-year programme working in a long-term partnership with Aviva. Native to the British Isles, temperate rainforest is an incredibly rare and biodiverse habitat, rarer even, than its tropical counterpart. This programme is going beyond traditional habitat restoration and creating new rainforests on eligible sites across the bioclimatic envelope (the area along our Atlantic coastline with the specific conditions needed for rainforest to thrive).
You will need to understand the political, economic and social context that the Welsh and UK nature conservation sector operates within. With that understanding, you will be able to use your direct experience of funding and investment as well as business planning to help the Trusts in Wales create a network of new nature reserves with sustainable business models.
You will be highly organised – prioritising time and workload effectively. You will be able to utilise ICT efficiently and effectively. Your personable approach will enable you to work with all, building collaborations and partnerships across Trusts and with many different stakeholders.
Your knowledge of woodland ecology and creation together with relevant regulatory processes, grant options and contracting methods will be essential to the successful delivery of Celtic Rainforest creation on these sites.
The Trusts value passion, respect, trust, integrity, pragmatic activism and strength in diversity. Whilst they are passionate in promoting their aims, they are not judgemental and are inclusive. They particularly encourage applications from people who are underrepresented within their sector, including people from minority backgrounds and people with disabilities. They are committed to creating a movement that recognises and truly values individual differences and identities.
Our client take our Safeguarding responsibilities extremely seriously. Please refer to the documents section to read the commitment statement
As a Disability Confident employer, they are committed to offering an interview to anyone with a disability that meets all the essential criteria for the post. Please let them know if you require any adjustments to make their recruitment process more accessible.

We are Living Streets, the UK charity for everyday walking.
We want to create a nation where walking is the natural choice for everyday, local journeys; free from congested roads and pollution, reducing the risk of preventable illnesses and social isolation. We want to achieve a better walking environment and to inspire people of all generations to enjoy the benefits the simple act of walking brings.
Join us and together we will create a walking nation.
We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team as Project Coordinators to coordinate the delivery of the Walk to School Outreach (WTSO) project.
You will be part of a team responsible for ensuring the project achieves its behaviour change aims, as agreed by the funder. This includes but is not limited to recruiting new schools onto the project, keeping active schools engaged, organising the distribution of resources, behaviour change activities and ensuring monitoring and record keeping systems are up to date. You will also support the project aims of identifying and recommending improvements, to overcome barriers to walking all the way to school.
You will occasionally be required on site and will therefore live within a reasonable travel distance by public transport, of one the following areas:
- NE/Tees Valley
- York, North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire
- Hull, NE Lincs
- Cumbria, North Lancs
- Nottingham, Warwickshire
- Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire
- Milton Keynes, Luton, Bedford
Living Streets is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk; and expects all our staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be subject to background and criminal records checks as relevant to the job role.
We will be conducting rolling interviews. If we successfully recruit to all roles, Living Streets reserves the right to close the application window early. Please therefore submit your application as soon as possible.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
We are looking for a passionate, collaborative and inclusive Programme Manager, who understands the transformative impact of mentoring and coaching and is committed to supporting and championing women with experience of the UK's hostile asylum system. If you want to have a deep impact by supporting the development of equitable and empowering mentoring relationships, then we would love to hear from you.
About Routes
Routes exists to grow the resources of refugee and asylum seeking women to ensure that they have equal access to jobs and education in the UK. Our vision is of a future where people seeking safety in the UK are afforded access to opportunities and networks that they need to build meaningful and fulfilling lives, the ability to choose their future path, and the resources they need to reach their full potential.
We achieve our objective through three programmes:
-
1:1 Mentoring: a four month programme offering 1:1 mentoring, networking opportunities, skills workshops, and practical support. The programme connects refugee women with mentors in a unique mutual mentoring programme that supports both mentors and mentees to learn and grow from each other. We provide training for mentors to ensure that the support they provide mentees is high quality, and to offer a learning experience for them too. For mentees, the mentoring is supplemented by workshops covering topics like self advocacy and public speaking, wrap-around support, check-in calls, casework, and access to a comprehensive resource database.
-
Research: Routes is conducting research into how to create systemic change for women refugees facing unemployment in London. This includes looking into apprenticeship schemes, funded training programmes and business partnerships to create employment pathways. The outcomes of this research will feed into Routes’ wider work as the findings develop.
-
Alumni support: designed to support our growing community of graduates from the mentoring programme with their continued development towards their goals, this includes bursary opportunities with City and Guilds Foundation, free comparability statements for qualifications gained abroad through ECCTIS, career talks with the aim of raising awareness and aspirations, jobs list to circulate opportunities, workshops for continued skills development and more.
Our ways of working
We are currently a team of five, who all work part time (mix of three and four days a week). We are motivated by investing in people and potential; we don’t just accept things as they are and are always open to learning how to make things better. We invest in our own development and growth, through strengths coaching sessions, and training opportunities.
We have flexible working and aim to establish working patterns that suit everyone; it’s important to us that everyone feels able to thrive in the team. Working from the office is a requirement of this role, but we all work hybrid so there is the option to work from home some of the week if you would like to.
About the programmes you’ll manage
Mentoring Programme
The Routes Mentoring Programme has been running since 2018. We run currently two Mentoring Programmes a year, supporting 60 mentees, and we pride ourselves in delivering this programme in a way that centres autonomy, care, and learning and development.
You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth delivery of the mentoring programme for our mentees and mentors. Routes mentees are women from refugee and asylum seeking backgrounds with goals to do with their personal and professional development. You will take the lead in managing their journey through the programme from recruitment, matching, onboarding, programme events, support throughout the programme, offboarding, and impact measurement.
Routes Mentoring Programmes are designed to create relationships that are supportive, equal and empowering. We take care to fully understand each person’s goals and aspirations, so that we find them a mentor who can support on their goals. We know that a one-size-fits-all approach does not work, which is why the 1:1 support of a mentor can be so transformative.
Routes mentors are women from our partner organisations across sectors. We provide extensive training in coaching and mentoring tools and techniques that they can use for their mentoring and beyond in their professional lives, ensuring that the programme is a learning opportunity for them too. The learning on our Mentoring Programme focuses on inclusive leadership, and may be useful in other 1:1 relationships, including line management, work with colleagues and other personal and professional contexts. The mentoring programme is a crucial part of our business model as an organisation; the mentors’ places on the programme are funded by their employer through learning and development budgets.
