The wïsh centre is a Registered Charity in London Borough of Harrow that helps young people to stop self harming so that they can live a life free from the risk of serious harm. Every year we support over 150 children and young people ages 12-25 years through long term psychotherapy and peer support groups. We deliver our work in schools and colleges and at our Centre in Harrow. We have a twenty year evidenced track record of success and a small and dedicated team.

 We have a new three year strategy where we will focus on enhancing the capacity of wïsh Harrow so that we can support more young people and will continue to focus on partnership work with youth voice being central to, and informing, all that we do.

Purpose of the Role

The Deputy CEO is a new and exciting role that is pivotal in supporting the CEO in leading the charity, ensuring operational excellence, strategic growth, and sustainable impact. This role combines leadership, governance, income generation, stakeholder engagement, and quality assurance to help drive the charity’s mission forward.

The Deputy CEO will work closely with the CEO, enhancing capacity to recruit and retain staff and diversify sources of funding to ensure the sustainability of our service.

You will be responsible for creating new partnerships and commissioning opportunities and help us with income generation and the stewarding of funding relationships whilst keeping an overview of the quality of our services and how we communicate about our work.

Leadership & Governance

Fundraising & Stakeholder Engagement

· Support the CEO in securing funding through high-quality bids and proposals to trusts, foundations, and corporate  partners.

· Secure leads for commissioning with local schools and colleges and potential partnerships.

· Develop and steward strong relationships with funders, sponsors, local authorities, and other key stakeholders.

· Represent the charity at external events and meetings.

Operational & Team Management

· Manage and support a small staff team, including recruitment, induction, supervision, performance management and annual appraisals.

· Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) when required.

· Ensure all areas operate efficiently, meet compliance and safety standards, and support the charity’s purpose.

Policy and Monitoring and Evaluation

· Responsibility for Monitoring and Evaluation, including funder and impact reports

· Coordinate and manage policy development, risk management, and charity administration.

· Lead the creation and presentation of annual reports, impact evaluations, and other stakeholder funding reports and communications.

· Monitor KPIs and targets to ensure the charity meets its funding requirements and achieves positive outcomes.

· Maintain effective recording systems for both quantitative and qualitative data.

This is an exciting role leading our committed policy team leading the fight to end child poverty in the UK. Our Fundraising Assistant will provide key administrative support to the Fundraising Team. Being based primarily at our Shrewsbury office, this person will be a key point of contact for our supporters in the office, and will assist with managing online fundraising platforms, email and phone communications and ensuring fundraising materials are ready and waiting to go out into the community.

This person will also work closely with our Operations Team, ensuring that they have the information they need to process donations accurately, and that our valued supporters are thanked in a timely manner. They will form part of a rota with Operations colleagues to ensure all Reception desks are staffed as required.

They will be friendly, able to communicate well with people across the community, including those living with cancer or who are bereaved. They will also be collaborative, detail-focussed and willing to work with others to solve problems.

We are looking for someone to work 22.5 hours per week; this can be worked in a flexible pattern as agreed, within office hours and across at least three working days. This role can be worked within school hours across five days if required. This role will be based primarily at our office at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital but will need to work at our other sites within Shropshire, Telford and Mid Wales on occasion.

As an Engagement Centre Assistant, you’ll care for our supporters and guide them through their journey with Compassion. You’ll answer incoming enquiries and initiate outgoing enquiries by phone, SMS, email, letter, live chat and social media. You’ll help our supporters grow in engagement with their sponsored children and Compassion’s ministry. 

By doing this well and delivering excellent customer service, you’ll encourage our supporters to participate fully in the global movement of Compassion so that together, we can release more children from poverty in Jesus’ name.

About the role:

The Adoption Quality and Development Lead plays a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality adoption and adoption support services. Together, we work to ensure society values and invests in homecare so people can live well at home and flourish in their communities. About the role

As External Affairs Officer, you will sit at the heart of our communications and parliamentary work. You will work closely with colleagues and members to raise awareness of the value of homecare and advance the interests of the sector.

You will help grow our profile in Parliament and the media, support campaigns, and strengthen relationships with MPs, journalists and stakeholders. You will also play a key role in translating member experience into compelling external messages and ensuring members feel heard, supported and represented.

This role suits someone who enjoys joining the dots, spots opportunities quickly and wants to build a career in external affairs, public affairs or communications within a respected, mission-driven organisation.

What you will do

• Track parliamentary activity and political developments, summarising key issues for colleagues and members
• Support parliamentary engagement, including drafting briefings, communications and Parliamentary Questions
• Build and maintain relationships with MPs, parliamentary staff and external stakeholders
• Monitor media coverage and help shape proactive and reactive media opportunities
• Draft clear, engaging content for press releases, member communications and external channels
• Plan and deliver social media activity that strengthens reach, engagement and influence
• Work closely with members to capture case studies, insights and lived experience
• Contribute to blogs, publications, events and conferences, including party conferences
• Support the team with coordination, reporting and continuous improvement

About you

You are bright, motivated and organised, with a strong interest in politics, policy and communications. You enjoy writing, relationship-building and working at pace. You take initiative, think critically and care about delivering high-quality work.

You will bring:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to tailor messages to different audiences
• Experience in public affairs, media, communications or campaigning, or a closely related field
• An understanding of UK parliamentary processes and political engagement
• Confidence using social media to inform, engage and influence
• Strong planning skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
• An interest in social care, health or public services, or a desire to build expertise in this area

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a fantastic chance to join the Walk Wheel Cycle Trust, working within the Active Journeys team as our new Project Officer, in Norfolk.

As Project Officer, you will play a dynamic role in planning and delivering practical walking, wheeling, and cycling projects that make a real difference to communities across Norfolk.

You will engage with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, building strong relationships to ensure the successful delivery of projects.

This role involves regular travel, with work taking place at different locations to support and deliver projects for the Walk Wheel Cycle Trust. While we prioritise the use of active and sustainable travel you may be required to drive to some of our more rural areas. 

Key Responsibilities

• Planning and managing small clearly defined projects or experience of delivering work packages as part of a project.
• Working as part of a team and building meaningful and collaborative relationships, both internally and externally.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys getting out and about, interacting with a variety of people, and delivering events.
