As a Financial Accountant, you’ll be responsible for preparing, analysing, and maintaining financial records and reports, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and internal policies. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you’ll support the month-end and year-end close, oversee payroll and accounts payable, and act as the first point of contact for grant and bank account queries. Your role will be essential in ensuring the smooth running of the finance function, providing expert financial insights and analysis to support decision-making.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing annual statutory accounts and audit documentation.
• Lead the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting.
• Oversee payroll processing (Sage 50), including tax and pension calculations.
• Manage accounts payable, including supplier payments and expense reconciliation.
• Maintain key financial controls, including grant payments, payroll, creditors, and bank reconciliations.
• Monitor and improve financial processes to ensure efficiency and compliance.
• Support the Finance Director with cash flow analysis and forecasting.

What are we looking for?

• Qualified or finalist (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) with 2-5 years of experience in financial accounting.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, tax compliance, and audit processes.
• Skilled in Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, Financial Modelling) and accounting software (preferably NetSuite).
• Experience in payroll processing, budgeting, and cash flow management.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills, able to present financial data clearly to non-financial stakeholders.

About Quest for Learning
Quest for Learning is an education charity on a mission to close the gap for primary school children in Oxfordshire who are falling behind - often due to complex and compounding disadvantage. Many of the children we support are growing up in poverty, with limited access to books, low parental literacy, and challenging home environments. Role Purpose

This is a hands-on and outward-facing role for a confident, capable fundraiser ready to lead Quest for Learning’s income generation efforts. As our sole dedicated fundraiser, you’ll take ownership of securing income across a broad mix of streams - including trusts and foundations, community fundraising, individual giving, and corporate partnerships.

You’ll be out and about representing the charity, building relationships with local businesses, community groups, and supporters, and bringing our mission to life with energy and clarity. You'll need to be a proactive self-starter who enjoys meeting people, thrives in a varied role, and is motivated by delivering results that improve life chances for disadvantaged children.

This is a busy and varied role which often involves working on multiple fundraising activities at once. A typical day could include working on an application to a new funder, designing a supporter newsletter, gathering information for an end of grant report, and researching new prospects.

This role would suit someone with experience of securing funding, managing funder relationships, and developing new opportunities - all with a focus on practical delivery. Early Literacy Interventionist (North London)

38% of children from disadvantaged backgrounds leave primary school in England each year unable to read to the expected standard. Chapter One is a fast-growing charity, with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills they need to thrive. We work to ensure that all children have 1:1 reading support at the time they need it most.

Our Early Literacy Intervention (ELI) programme (based on a model that serves 20,000 children successfully in the USA) provides daily, 1:1, 7 minute phonics sessions for children who are behind in phonics. Using a bespoke technology tool, a trained Early Literacy Interventionist works individually with target children. 

This ELI role, reporting to the Schools Development Manager, is a great opportunity for someone who wants to develop and grow their knowledge of phonics and/or their teaching skill set. It is ideal for someone with previous school experience who is looking for a new and exciting challenge.

You will conduct initial baseline assessments and then deliver differentiated, 1:1, targeted, 7 minute phonics sessions to pupils using a systematic, synthetic approach. Although you are employed by Chapter One, you will work closely with the school team to understand the progression of the school’s phonics teaching; establish tailored plans for each child and feedback on pupil progress. Using your knowledge and insight, you will also collaborate with colleagues at Chapter One to further improve the ELI model, the online tool and programme delivery.

London Play is seeking a part-time Partnership Fundraiser to lead on securing income to support its vital work, in particular through strengthening and developing its partnership with London Play Design. Job Description

We seek a skilled and proactive fundraiser to support LP in submitting funding applications to support its partnership with LPD and developing long-term fundraising capacity. The first key task will be to collaborate with both organisations to create a strategic fundraising plan aligned with our programmes, with a strong emphasis on championing play and supporting adventure playgrounds in continuing their essential community work.

Key responsibilities will include developing and implementing a fundraising strategy to secure income from a diverse range of sources; and researching, identifying, developing and submitting funding applications and proposals to relevant trusts, foundations and other grant-making bodies.

The ideal applicant will have at least five years’ experience in fundraising, donor development, or grant writing – ideally including partnership arrangements – as well as a demonstrable understanding of the value of play and the outcomes it contributes to for children and for communities. They will be highly organised, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills and a proven ability to achieve income targets and meet application deadlines.

Key responsibilities

• Operational Delivery: Lead the coordination of key meetings with internal and external stakeholders and our biannual directorate all staff meeting with 100+ attendees.
• Meeting & Activity Coordination: Manage logistics for internal and external meetings—diary coordination, venue booking, travel arrangements while supporting with the preparation of agendas, capturing minutes, and tracking actions.
• Planning & Performance Insight: Work with the Portfolio Manager to gather and analyse data that informs strategic planning and performance tracking. Help develop planning materials and monitor progress.
• Cross-Directorate Collaboration: Work with colleagues across Research, Health, and other Directorates to support the successful delivery of BHF’s strategy.

About you

You’ll be confident, highly organised with a strong background in administration, project coordination, and operational delivery. You'll also be used to working at pace, managing competing priorities, and keeping things on track with precision and calm.

With experience coordinating meetings and events, managing complex diaries, and supporting senior leaders—ideally at Director level, you'll be adept at handling sensitive information and skilled in supporting the preparation of agendas and meeting notes with input from both internal and external stakeholders.

Digitally fluent, you’ll be confident using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to produce high-quality documents reports, and presentations. With a sharp analytical mindset and keen attention to detail, you'll also have experience of interpreting data and translating it into clear, insightful reports that resonate with both technical and non-technical audiences.

A natural collaborator and excellent relationship builder, able to influence effectively and align stakeholders around shared goals, you'll bring strong organisational skills and a proactive, solution-oriented approach.

Working arrangements

This is initially a 14-month fixed term contract with the potential to be extended for longer.

About the role:
