Head of Fundraising and Communications

London, Greater London (Hybrid)
£56,721 per year

Job description

Our client has been part of the Deptford community since 1992, working alongside people experiencing homelessness across South East London. Through practical support, housing and employment advice, mental health and recovery services, and dedicated support for women, the charity helps people move forward at their own pace. With demand growing and its 2026–2031 strategy underway, this is an important time to join an organisation rooted in its local community and committed to building a sustainable future for its services.

Salary: £56,721
Location: Deptford, SE8; at least three days on site each week
Contract: full time and permanent

As Head of Fundraising and Communications, you’ll lead the organisation's fundraising strategy—protecting existing income while developing new, sustainable support. With fundraising making up £716,000 of the charity’s £1.6m budgeted income, this is a pivotal role with real organisational impact. You’ll lead a small specialist team but remain a hands-on fundraiser, with particular responsibility for growing individual giving, corporate partnerships and major donor relationships. As part of the three-person Senior Leadership Team, you’ll also oversee communications and contribute to wider strategy, planning and decision-making.

The organisation is looking for an ambitious, thoughtful and practical fundraising leader with a strong track record of personally securing significant income and meeting targets. You’ll have proven success in at least two of individual giving, major donors and corporate partnerships, plus the confidence and ambition to grow the third. You’ll bring experience developing fundraising strategy, managing budgets and forecasts, leading and supporting people, and overseeing communications. Above all, you’ll enjoy building relationships, be comfortable making the ask, and combine strategic thinking with a sleeves-rolled-up approach.
