About Refugee Action
Refugee Action exists to work with refugees and people seeking asylum who’ve survived some of the world’s worst regimes. We are a national charity with more than 40 years’ experience of empowering people who’ve survived some of the world’s worst regimes to secure the protection and support that they need to live with dignity and respect and build a new life in the UK. We do this by providing expert advice and casework, building the capacity of partner organisations and campaigning on the policies that affect them.
To succeed in the role you will need to demonstrate:
- Strong understanding of the UK asylum and refugee protection system, including relevant law, policy and the barriers and impacts experienced by people navigating it.
- Demonstrable commitment to anti-racism and to removing barriers to power and participation for people with lived experience.
- Experience of supporting, supervising and applying good practice when working with volunteers.
- Understanding of the value and challenges of working with volunteers with lived experience to co-produce resources and co-design services.
- Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills, with the ability to produce clear, accessible content for different audiences and purposes.
- Excellent partnership, communication and networking skills, with the ability to work constructively with and influence voluntary and statutory agencies.
- Experience of planning and delivering high-quality engagement sessions using varied approaches for different audiences.
- Ability to implement ongoing monitoring and evaluation processes and present findings clearly.
- Desirable: experience of using Canva, Adobe or similar tools to create multimedia assets, and content management systems to create and publish content.
Those with lived experience as a refugee are particularly encouraged to apply
Closing date: 23:59 on 18 October 2026
