We are looking for an Assistant Shop Manager to work alongside the Shop Manager in our Sutton in Ashfield shop. Are you self motivated with strong interpersonal skills and thrive on challenges and opportunities that come with assisting in the running of the shop? Can you assist the Shop Manager in driving sales and profits and able to work closely with staff and Volunteers to ensure we deliver the best level of customer service.

We are looking for someone who loves working with people and has the ability to lead in the absence of the Shop Manager, inspire and empower people around them. We are looking for someone who is friendly and positive in their approach and can instil an energy to those around them. Have you got a creative ability that you can bring to the role?

Working closely with the Shop Manager in our Teddington shop, you'll take on a varied role delivering on key areas of work to enable the delivery of the shop's potential. From supporting volunteer recruitment, to taking on responsibility for day-to-day operations or leadership of the shop, you'll provide key support and additional capacity to the Shop Manager to enable the shop's continued success.   

About You 

You will be someone with exceptional project coordination skills, who understands the importance of community and enjoys supporting people to exercise similar passions through volunteering. 

You'll bring: 

• Project coordination or operations experience within retail or a transferable setting, e.g. community engagement, volunteer management, retail operations etc. 
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build & maintain positive working relationships with a variety of people.
• A flexible, positive and resilient attitude, able to work at pace in a fast-moving environment. 
• Results driven approach with experience of working to targets. 
• Experience and confidence using a range of IT platforms including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), as well as systems for the management of other areas (e.g. reporting, volunteer management).

Your role

ABOUT BLACK ROOTZ

Black Rootz is a multigenerational growing project providing opportunities for Black and racially minoritised people to grow food for themselves, their families and their communities. Black Rootz was established in 2019 by a collective of Black growers in Haringey who recognised the need to organise to challenge the deep inequalities in the growing and food systems. Over the past 5 years, Black Rootz has developed a holistic practice for Black and racially minoritised communities incorporating intergenerational knowledge transfer, increased access to land and food sovereignty, regenerative environmental practices and reduced food inequality.

Black Rootz has been incubated as a project within The Ubele Initiative since 2019. As an established name in the growing community, it is now building towards an independent future.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Project Manager is a new role that will provide hands on management capacity to Black Rootz. The role will bring experience and energy to support the delivery and continued development of the project’s core activities; the Community Growing Programme and a new workshop series. The Project Manager will take on a management position and, with support from Ubele, help the project to navigate decisions that will enable Black Rootz to achieve its overall social, environmental, and operational ambitions. 

The successful candidate will be central in Black Rootz’ journey towards a more independent and sustainable future. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with the complexity andholistic nature of Black Rootz and will be committed to its values. As a small team, the Project Manager will be as comfortable making plans and big decisions as they are rolling their sleeves up and being hands on to support the team. While this is a fixed-term contract, we expect the role to be extended and grow over time.

The Online Product Lister (Known internally as eCommerce Online Sales Executive) plays a vital role in generating income for Scope to support disabled people and their families. A key part of this role is listing a variety of donated items for sale via Scope’s online selling channels. 

Location: Scope’s Ecommerce Hub - Westlink Business Park, Salford, M50 1BX.

Fixed term for 6 months, 16 hours per week.

The hub operates from 8am - 8pm, Monday to Sunday. 

Some evening, weekend and Bank Holiday working will be required in line with Ecommerce Hub operating hours.

The Online Product Lister is responsible for completing high quality listings through accurate photography and detailed descriptions.  The role will involve listing a variety of different products including home and garden, clothing and seasonal cards and items.  Product market research and price checking are also key responsibilities of this role.

• Good communication skills, including the ability to write copy and create high quality listings.
• The ability to research products online and work to daily targets. 
• The role requires continuous manual handling of stock in volume, daily. It will require a reasonable level of fitness and exertion, including carrying stock on a regular basis.

It’s important for you to know that Scope Charity Shops are open every day. So some weekend and Bank Holiday cover is needed. Our full time hours are 35 hours a week, working five days out of seven. Weekly hours for part-time vacancies are on a seven-day rota.

The Royal Hospital Chelsea has secured a grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund to restore and adapt our Grade II* Stable Block, designed by Sir John Soane, into a state-of-the-art Visitor Centre with an expected annual footfall of 36,000 visitors.  

We are seeking a Retail Manager to oversee the day to day operation of the new Soane Stable Yard shop, Post Office counter, and online shop. This pivotal role involves ensuring exceptional customer service, driving sales, and leading a fantastic team.

The Retail Manager will train and manage a dedicated team of staff, Chelsea Pensioners and volunteers . In addition to driving high levels of customer service, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering against sales target, inventory management, visual merchandising, product sourcing and development and management of the online shop.

This full-time position requires some flexibility with weekend and evening shifts to accommodate the shop's opening hours. The post-holder will work closely with the new Audience Engagement team and Retail Consultants.

You will assist the Shop Manager in the recruitment, support and development of a strong community focused shop team and empower them to maximise Shelter's income. Representing Shelter in your local community, ensuring that you and your team share your knowledge of Shelter's cause with customers, volunteers, donors and potential Shelter clients will also be important aspects of the role. The Role

At the National Memorial Arboretum, we believe in building on potential. As a Sous Chef your ability to ensure the prompt service and provision of all meals and services at the required times in line with the Food Services Strategy could have a real impact on people's lives.

As a Sous Chef you will be responsible for operating within one of two full-production kitchens within two separate buildings (Remembrance and Aspects) to supply catering across multiple outlets including self-serve 380 cover restaurant, table waited functions room up to 500, coffee shop, 'pop up Foodservice outlets within the grounds of the Arboretum and hospitality. We are open daily from 10:00 till 17:00 7 days a week, we do some bespoke evening events in our Aspects building throughout the year.

If successful, the main duties of your role will be:

 

• To support the Executive Head Chef in the delivery of the Food Services Strategy.
• Consistently maintain high standards of food service and provision to meet the expectations of Staff, Volunteers, visitors and clients.
• To ensure that the methods of preparation and presentation comply with current recognised catering standards and those implemented by the Food Services Manager and Executive Head Chef.
• To take operational control, including supervision of all kitchen staff, of any of the kitchens, food production, food service and pot-wash areas as required by the Executive Head Chef.
• To assist the Executive Head Chef with menu planning, rota changes, staff training and stock control..
• To report any customer complaints and compliments and to quickly resolve any complaints to ensure satisfaction at the point of delivery wherever possible.
• To help ensure that all members of staff adhere to both statutory regulations and NMA's policies on food safety and health and safety within all catering areas.
• Work with the Executive Head Chef to ensure that effective induction, supervision and appraisals of catering staff are carried out and that training needs are identified and met.

The post will be working 40 hours per week on 5 days out of 7 basis.
