Turning Tides provides a range of homelessness services to around 1000 people a year in West Sussex and has a turnover of £8m. This includes community hubs, outreach services and supported housing.
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Finance Director to join our senior management team and shape the charity’s strategic future and ensure it is financially secure and well managed. This comes at an exciting time as we are in the process of registering as a Housing Association.
- Reporting to the Chief Executive, and additional responsibilities to the Finance and Audit Committee, and Board of Trustees.
- Overall responsibility and accountability for Turning Tides’ finances, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and risk management that is compliant with all relevant accounting standards.
- Key SMT member, working collaboratively to ensure accurate forecasting and value for money is achieved, and provide review and challenge on expenditure, efficiency and effectiveness.
- Leadership of a well established finance team to include management of payroll, procurement, and companywide insurances.
- Ensuring that Turning Tides is compliant with financial aspects of the Regulatory Code for Social Housing providers and Housing SORP
- Continual process improvement and change management to create a cost-effective finance function to support the Charity.

About You
- Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or CIPFA)
- Have a breadth of finance experience, including good working knowledge of creating strategic financial strategy and business plans
- Have a proven track record of effective leadership, including experience of managing small finance teams with turnover of around £8m
- Have experience of influencing and building strong relationships with senior stakeholders to include working with Board and Finance and Audit Committee
- Possess excellent IT skills and utilisation of Microsoft 365 applications, including Advanced Excel
- Strong analytical skills with proven experience of using data to support decisions, identify trends and challenge

In the last four years, Citizens Advice in East Dorset and Purbeck have come together, managed the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic and the impact this had on the delivery of services; faced the increase in demand for our services through the cost-of-living crisis, as well as working with two other Local Citizens Advice (LCAs) in the Dorset Council area to deliver the Dorset Council Advice contract.
This is an outstanding opportunity for the right person to play a key role in shaping the future direction and success of Citizens Advice in East Dorset & Purbeck. You will need to be highly motivated, committed to making a difference and have the ability to take your staff and volunteers with you as together you face the challenges of the future.
With the Trustee Board, you’ll be leading the development and delivery of the way forward for the service in the future. You will need to engage staff, volunteers and external stakeholders, while continuing to secure new funding streams to ensure that the high level of service delivery is maintained. You’ll be a strong supporter for equality, diversity and inclusion for our clients, staff and volunteers.

Birmingham Hippodrome is incredibly proud to be one of the West Midlands’ largest cultural organisations, and one of the busiest theatres in the UK. As well as welcoming over 600,000 people to shows, the Hippodrome engages with more than 325,000 people through a vast programme of education and young people’s projects, festivals, events, produced work and artist development programmes. The Hippodrome is an independent charity, attracting support from trusts, foundations and project partners, but is not an Arts Council England NPO and doesn’t receive any regular public funding.
The Director of Creative Programmes is the critical role in ensuring that the charity can continue to deliver for the communities and creatives of Birmingham and the West Midlands. It will work with colleagues and external partners to deliver the Hippodrome’s mission by building a sustainable strategy to have an even greater impact on our region. The role will also play an important role on the Hippodrome’s team of Directors to ensure that there is a creative voice in all parts of the organisation’s decision-making.
The post focuses on three key areas: young people and education, access, artist development and site-specific/festival work. This work is central to the Hippodrome’s vision of ‘a distinctive, world-class Birmingham cultural scene with the Hippodrome at its heart’. The post-holder will be expected to work with their team to ensure these areas keep evolving to respond to changes within the cultural landscape. As well as motivating and developing Creative Programmes team, the role is responsible for building and maintaining external relationships with the creative community of the region. They will also hold relationships with building partners, including the world-class dance ecology with whom we share facilities.

Some of the core requirements for the ideal candidate include:
- Strategic thinker: able to align creative programming with organisational vision, goals, financial sustainability, growth and impact.
- Proven leadership skills: managing creative teams and production staff. Experience of line management, staff development, resource planning or capacity building.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a senior leadership team with other departments.
- Demonstrable experience of curating or programming high-quality, distinctive theatre/arts work.
- Experience of working with young people, Familiarity with arts education, learning or participation and creative learning practice.
- Significant lived experience or strong empathy/track record of working with under-represented, under-served or marginalised communities.
- Experience commissioning or producing work and programmes in collaboration with communities (co-creation), with strong stakeholder consultation and participation.
- Ability to build and maintain strategic partnerships—national, regional, local; plus partnerships with artists, cultural institutions, community organisations.

Working closely with the Director, Digital Rights, you will drive internal synergies and ensure alignment across teams, while leading a global programme that influences regulators, financial service providers, and policymakers. Skilled at navigating multi-stakeholder environments, you will be comfortable engaging with consumer associations, foundations, regulators, and financial service providers alike. Entrepreneurial and creative, you will thrive in a fast-moving, collaborative setting, able to translate strategic vision into concrete outcomes. Above all, you will bring the foresight, integrity, and influence to position Consumers International as the trusted global voice for consumers in the digital finance space.
