About the Role and the Team

Partnering with the Senior Management Team (SMT), the Head of Finance will form an integral part of the senior team, taking full ownership of the finance function for the organisation.

You will provide SMT with financial planning/strategic advice and high-level analysis to identify growth opportunities in the business as well as overseeing all finance activities and leading on financial strategies whilst being hands-on across the organisation. In addition, the role oversees the outsourced IT contract and is responsible for ensuring the organisation has robust IT systems in place.

Charity experience - Qualified Financial Professional - Good communicator - Collaborative - UK based

Background

NAPAC (the National Association for People Abused in Childhood) is entering an important period of growth. Our income sources are diversifying, our public profile is rising and our operations are becoming more complex. With new earned income streams, additional grant funding, VAT considerations and more detailed Board reporting, we are now strengthening our finance function to ensure accuracy, clarity and confidence in all financial matters.

We are therefore seeking a freelance finance professional to provide part-time, ongoing operational finance support. The role involves managing our monthly financial bookkeeping and reporting functions, working closely with our Chief Operating Officer and wider team. Our current provider will continue to handle payroll and year-end audit preparation, but we are moving our day-to-day finance support to this new model.

We are looking for a proactive, highly competent individual who can understand the way NAPAC works and provide accurate, timely and thoughtful financial support. This is a key role that underpins our success and gives confidence to the team, trustees, funders and external stakeholders.

Scope of Work

The successful individual will be responsible for:

• Maintaining accurate financial records in Xero, including all necessary transactional data entry (such as inputting and coding income, expenses, invoices and credit notes), reconciling bank and PayPal accounts and preparing monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet and cashflow reports).
• Supporting monthly reporting cycles for internal governance (Income Generation Subcommittee and full Board).
• Liaising with our team to ensure invoices are raised, chased and coded accurately.
• Managing grant income allocations and restricted funds tracking in line with funder requirements.
• Supporting our team with financial queries, budget phasing and grant planning.
• Advising on Xero housekeeping (e.g. Chart of Accounts simplification, tracking codes).
• Advising on VAT issues, including preparation for registration if required (though this may be handled separately with legal input).
• Supporting periodic financial forecasting and budgeting alongside the CEO and Chief Operating Officer.
• Attending virtual meetings as required (Income Generation Subcommittee monthly; quarterly Board meetings and ad hoc meetings with staff).
• Ensuring a smooth handover and transition from the current provider.

Occasional projects may include:

• A full review and restructuring of our Chart of Accounts.
• Retrospective re-coding of entries for YTD accuracy and reporting.
• Supporting audit/year-end examination preparations (collaborating with TC-Group as our year-end auditor).

Candidate Profile

We are looking for someone who:

• Has strong experience in operational charity finance or with social enterprises.
• Has demonstrable experience of restructuring a Chart of Accounts within finance systems.
• Holds or is training towards a recognised accounting qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or who can demonstrate equivalent experience in operational finance roles, particularly where they have led on financial reporting, forecasting and working within Xero-led systems.
• Has excellent working knowledge of Xero and related finance systems.
• Understands the operational pressures faced by small to medium-sized charities.
• Can lucidly explain financial information for colleagues with varied levels of financial literacy.
• Is detail-oriented, reliable and a clear communicator.
• Is comfortable working independently but collaboratively.
• Can offer a blend of rigour, responsiveness and a values-driven approach.
• Is based in the UK and able to attend NAPAC's London office at least once per month.
• Is available during business hours (09:00-17:00).

Time Commitment and Working Style

The expected time commitment is approximately three-six days per month, depending on workload and reporting periods. We anticipate this may be higher in the first two-three months to support onboarding, systems review and transition from our existing provider. We are open to flexibility and working arrangements.

This role will primarily be delivered remotely, but requires in-person attendance at NAPAC's London office at least once per month. The successful provider must be available during UK business hours (09:00-17:00) to attend scheduled meetings as needed both via Teams online and in-person.

A laptop will not be provided, but full IT onboarding and access to relevant systems (e.g. Xero, Teams, secure file-sharing platforms) will be arranged, along with any required security protocols. Payment will be on a day-rate basis, agreed in advance.

Charity People is delighted to be partnering with AdviceUK to recruit for an interim Head of Policy, Programmes and Media. Joining the organisation as a maternity leave cover contract, this is a role where you will have the opportunity to achieve significant impact across some key priority areas.

Since 1979, Advice UK has been supporting advice organisations by helping them to be efficient, competent and effective, and by campaigning for a policy environment that supports advice agencies and people needing advice. The Head of Policy, Programmes and Media position is a senior position within the organisation. Part of the SLT and reporting to the CEO the postholder will take the lead on all policy and public affairs initiatives to secure policy change and funding to benefit people seeking advice and the communities served by the organisation's members.

• Develop and oversee the implementation of effective strategies for policy and funder influence that enable Advice UK to achieve its purpose

• As the departmental budget holder, lead on all financial management for the department, including forecasting and measuring financial performance, setting and managing budgets, reducing waste, and taking action to ensure the department achieves its financial objectives

Woodland Ranger

We are seeking an experienced and practical Woodland Ranger to play a key role in managing and enhancing woodland and habitats across a large rural estate.

Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday (08:00 to 16:30 Monday to Thursday, 08:00 to 15:30 Friday)

About the role

This is a varied, hands-on role working across woodland, habitats, access routes and estate land. Responsibilities will change seasonally, with a stronger focus on woodland management and tree safety in winter, and vegetation management and mowing during the summer months.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting the delivery of woodland management plans and habitat strategies to promote biodiversity and ecological health
• Assisting with tree works and woodland operations as directed
• Wildlife management, including squirrel control, using best practice and innovative approaches
• Maintaining public footpaths and bridleways, ensuring they remain safe and accessible year-round
• Responding to fallen trees, storm damage and other access issues
• Working closely with estates, property and conservation colleagues across a broad landholding
• Supporting contractors and third parties working on site
• Leading or supporting volunteer working parties when required
• Contributing ideas and expertise to wider conservation and estates projects

About you

You will be practical, organised and confident working outdoors in all seasons, with a strong interest in conservation and land management.

You will ideally have:

• Experience of working safely to industry best practice in tree and woodland work
• Experience of, or willingness to learn, wildlife control methods
• Good map reading and orientation skills
• Experience maintaining green spaces and estate environments to a high standard
• Confidence using machinery such as mowers, brush cutters, chippers and tractors
• The ability to work independently, use initiative and problem solve
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A background in arboriculture, forestry or conservation through study or industry experience

Desirable skills include aerial tree work, tree inspection, winching, digger or MEWP use, spraying qualifications and highways safety training.

About the role

Listening Books is a national charity that provides an excellent audiobook lending service to anyone in the UK whose illness, disability, learning or mental health difficulty, impacts on their ability to read the printed word, or hold books. Our audiobook catalogue contains over 10,000 titles. We believe that books should be accessible to everyone.

The Membership and Recruitment Administrator will help increase referrals to our service, by building and developing relationships with local partner charities and other relevant organisations. They will allocate funding to eligible new and renewing sponsored members, helping to meet our funding requirements and expand the charity’s membership base.

They will undertake the retention of its sponsored and paying members, by contacting renewing individual and organisational members, with the intention of retaining as many as possible and encouraging their use of the audiobook service.

They will also provide administrative support to the charity, including answering the main telephone line and opening and processing post.

About the role:

This is a pilot project for Advance working with women with complex needs related to their involvement with the criminal justice system. As the Complex Needs & Outreach Worker you will provide intensive, trauma-informed support to women experiencing multiple and intersecting vulnerabilities, including homelessness, domestic and sexual violence, mental health challenges, substance misuse, and social exclusion. Working flexibly across outreach and community settings, you will focus on building trusting relationships with women who may be disengaged from or distrustful of services, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are addressed holistically.

You will be based primarily at Folkestone Probation Office, with up to two days per week spent providing outreach support in the community. This position involves close collaboration with the Folkestone Women's Pod to identify women who require intensive support.

A car may be desirable for this role, though not essential.

You will be highly empathetic, able to listen without judgement, and emotionally resilient when supporting women who have experienced significant trauma and adversity. The role requires tenacity and persistence, maintaining consistent engagement with clients who may have chaotic circumstances or face barriers to accessing support. You will advocate on behalf of clients, coordinate multi-agency responses, and support women to access safe accommodation, health services, safeguarding support, and pathways to recovery and independence.

This role demands a proactive, compassionate professional who can manage complex risk, work autonomously, and remain motivated and resilient while delivering person-centered, strengths-based support to some of the most vulnerable women in the community to enable them to lead safe and fulfilling lives.

Role Overview
As an Individual Giving Executive, you will project manage a range of Individual Giving campaigns within the Development & Stewardship team. The role focuses on cash appeals, raffles, newsletters and supporter journeys across various channels including direct mail, telephone and digital.

Key Responsibilities

· To manage the day to day running of individual giving campaigns; including campaign planning, overseeing creative development, liaising with key stakeholders, co-ordinating print and production, monitoring and analysing results and feeding back to agencies.

· To assist with the analysis, evaluation and reporting of campaigns, drawing conclusions and making recommendations for future activity.

· To manage the invoicing process and campaign income and expenditure.

· Experience of managing a range of direct marketing campaigns within a fundraising environment.
