About the role

The Senegal team are looking to recruit a Programme Manager Eye Health to oversee the development, co-ordination and management of Sightsavers programmes in Senegal.  The postholder will ensure alignment with Sightsavers policies and preferred programme approaches (in particular the principles of scalable demonstration approaches) working closely with the Country Director to maintain in- house quality standards on the delivery of programmes.

Key accountabilities but not limited to:

• Lead the development of country level action and implementation plans for eye health as agreed with the Global Technical Lead, Eye Health and Country Director, Senegal.
• Provision of effective management, coordination, technical advice and resource allocation necessary to support eye health in Senegal
• Deliver effective monitoring and support the evaluation of all aspects of the Eye Health programme, applying learning systematically to drive continuous improvement in projects and programmes
• Undertake regular monitoring visits to programme sites and to partners.
• Assist in preparing Budgets for projects and monitor expenditure against these, advising the Country Director on financial trends for example.
• Work with the finance team to ensure proper partner accountability for Sightsavers funds.
• Identify new strategic partnerships within the country to help develop Sightsavers eye health programme.
• Participate in all PR activities of the Country Office and represent Sightsavers at different forums in collaboration with the Country Director.

Essential knowledge and skills

• Degree in Medicine, preferably an Ophthalmologist or Postgraduate Degree in Public Health, Sciences or related disciplines.
• A proven track record within Programme/Project management, ideally in an INGO environment at PM level.
• Significant experience of strategic programme development.
• Technical knowledge on eye health in Senegal.
• Experience of managing an eye care programme in Africa, ideally in an international context.
• Strong advocacy, monitoring evaluation and research and logistics and supply chain management
• Current and ongoing right to work in Senegal
• Able to travel as and when required

About You

About the Role 

The Head of Rough Sleeping Services will lead our services in our centre based at 12 Adelaide Street. The core purpose of these services is to minimise the harm associated with rough sleeping and support people into treatment and accommodation options. This will include Centre Services, our Community, Street Engagement and case work teams. You will also lead the delivery of any short-term emergency accommodation including SWEP and hotel provision.    

This opportunity comes at a particularly exciting time as the Connection looks to ambitiously develop our work at Adeliade Street into a hub of harm reduction and health inclusion for people rough sleeping in Westminster. As the Head of Rough Sleeping Services, you will lead the exciting strategic and operational work to deliver this, and have the chance to be part of a centre that aims to be a nationally recognised example of innovative practice.   

The role requires someone with a strong track record in service delivery with people who have complex needs. They must have experience of trauma informed care and similar associated practice.  Alongside ensuring high quality service delivery, they must have experience of developing new approaches, building relationships with statutory services and working with fundraising specialists to secure resources. The Head of Rough Sleeping Services will be a well organised and focused manager who uses coaching techniques to develop their team. Finally, they must be a positive role model with the personal credibility to build confidence in the charity both internally and externally.

Health & Safety Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health & Safety Officer to join our Estates Team. In your role as the Health & Safety Officer will be to provide support on an operational basis to the health & safety function.

Role Requirements

• Promote good stakeholder involvement and good safety culture
• Prepare and issue monthly health and safety briefing documents / toolbox talks
• Keep health and safety information up to date, including all fire safety documentation (fire emergency plans, fire safety manuals etc.), the health and safety section of the intranet and shared documents
• Carry out regular walkabouts, including at retail stores, keeping in touch with staff on their safety arrangements and ensuring control measures are in place and effective
• Provide health and safety training and coaching on topics such as, but not limited to, general health & safety (induction and refresher training), fire safety, COSHH, risk assessing and manual handling
• Develop and refresh internal online training to support staff learning experiences
• Carry out general risk assessment, as required, with particular emphasis on retail, regulatory requirements, outings and the clinical environment.
• Update fire risk assessments for low to medium-risk buildings, tracking completion of actions and updating compliance software
• Manage COSHH risk assessments and the COSHH risk register, checking on suitable PPE and storage
• Manage compliance with workstation assessments, including homeworking, using the external management system
• Support teams, enabling them to carry out their risk assessments, including manual handling assessments for inanimate activities
• Develop and keep up to date Safe Operating Procedures for health and safety.
• To undertake other or additional duties that are within your skills and abilities, as the organisation may reasonably require from time to time.

The Children’s Trust is the UK’s leading charity for children with acquired brain injury, providing expert rehabilitation, education, therapy, and care at our national specialist centre in Tadworth, and to children and their families across the UK, via our Brain Injury Community Service.

The British Heart Foundation (BHF) is expanding its network of senior volunteers to boost income from corporate and philanthropic sources. 

As our Partnerships and Senior Networks Lead, you’ll play a key role in supporting our income ambitions by cultivating relationships, uncovering new opportunities, and enhancing the charity’s ability to secure advice and support.

BHF’s senior volunteers help us drive income through introductions to their networks, advice around major giving and corporate partnership fundraising, and by advocating on our behalf to high-value audiences. You will manage and support these senior volunteers, oversee key fundraising boards, and facilitate the engagement activities and administration of volunteer initiatives including Corporate Partnerships and Philanthropy Boards.
 
Additionally, you’ll be responsible for leveraging senior-level networks, including existing committees, boards and the Senior Leadership Group, to grow income, while ensuring insights, network mapping and briefing materials are handled effectively.

This critical role fosters collaboration and drives income growth to support BHF’s mission to save and improve lives affected by cardiovascular disease.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you bring experience managing stakeholder engagement at senior levels (e.g. Trustees, board members, senior volunteers, high-net-worth donors and/or corporate leaders) as well as demonstrable experience in providing secretariat support to boards, committees, or similar groups.

With a background in philanthropic and/or corporate partnerships fundraising, you have a strong understanding of the charity sector and experience in managing communications on behalf of high-profile individuals, such as board members or organisational leaders.

Proactive and self-motivated, with strong organisation skills and attention to detail, you have experience in planning events and other engagement touchpoints for high value audiences and working with external suppliers and contractors to source high quality goods and services.

With excellent written and verbal communication skills, you can build and maintain strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders and manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion.

Working arrangements  

This is 18-month fixed term contract from start date. Start date is as soon as possible.

Support Dogs trains and provides specialist assistance dog to give 100% reliable advance warning of epileptic seizures; to help children with autism to stay safe and better engage with the world around them. We are looking for a dedicated and organised Trusts and Grants Fundraiser to join our friendly and supportive team. Reporting to the Trusts and Development Manager, you’ll help identify and research prospective funders, prepare compelling applications, and build strong relationships with donors.
