About the role

At a time of growth and of new opportunities for the Motability Foundation, we are looking for a Public Affairs Manager to join our Communications Team and lead our Public Affairs activity for the organisation.

Our vision is to fund, support, research, and innovate, so all disabled people can make the journeys they choose. There are an estimated 16 million disabled people in the UK, and this role will play a crucial part in our work to raise awareness of the work of the Motability Foundation, amplify the voices of disabled people and to influence policy.

·This new role will work alongside our new Evidence and Policy Manager, based in our Innovation team, and other colleagues across the organization as well as key partners (Motability Operations), to manage our horizon scanning and monitoring of the political landscape, leading on advising our Governors, CEO and senior management team on actions we need to take, and preparing detailed briefings for engagements, and events with Parliamentarians and senior Ministers. The role holder will develop, implement and lead our Public Affairs and Government Engagement Plan, and proactively identify and develop opportunities to influence and shape policy where it may have a positive impact for disabled people.

With a General Election and potential welfare reform on the horizon, this role is especially important and experience in creating and implementing post-election public affairs strategies, leading activities across the team and devising and managing structured results reporting to the organisation, is highly desirable.

 

What you will be doing

• Develop, implement and manage our public affairs strategy, leading on public affairs activities aligned with the Motability Foundation’s vision and overall strategy.
• Amplify the Motability Foundation’s voice in Parliament, across the devolved nations, and in political spheres, building, developing and managing relationships with parliamentarians, decision-makers and stakeholders.
• Manage our horizon scanning and monitoring of the political, legislative and regulatory landscape in relation to the work of the Motability Foundation, leading on advising the business on actions we need to take.
• Provide sharp political intelligence, insight, advice and briefings for Governors, directors, senior management and a variety of audiences across the organization.
• Support the establishment of the Motability Foundation’s policy positions and delivering our influencing objectives.
• Manage a contact program for Parliamentarians, raising awareness of the work of the Motability Foundation, establishing regular meetings for senior leaders where relevant, and facilitating dialogue on issues relevant to our work.
• Working closely with the Evidence and Policy Manager to manage the dissemination of any policy output for presentation to the external world.

Your experience

Must haves:

• Strong grasp of parliamentary processes in Westminster, Scotland and the other devolved nations.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The role is essential to delivering the charities income targets for Trusts and Foundations and developing long term relationships. In addition, the post holder will support the Head of Income Generation with approaching, reporting, and maintaining Trust and Foundation relationships for major appeals.

he Fundraising Officer will work as part of the Fundraising team and focus on delivering income targets from trusts and foundations. The role is responsible for growing LDCT’s trust and foundation income by increasing the amount and longevity of funding from current supporters, as well as building a portfolio of new trusts and foundations through research, maintaining a pipeline of prospects, updating the Funding Matrix and making successful applications. Building good relationships with new funders including regular reporting, as well as good stewardship of existing funders, is an important part of the role.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Delivering on fundraising priorities and targets for trusts and foundations income, including our current and future major appeals.
2. Researching, identifying, and prioritising appropriate trusts and foundations to maintain and convert a pipeline of new, prospective trusts and foundations.
3. Working with colleagues across the organisation to help shape projects for funding and creating strong Cases for Support to ensure effective applications.
4. Writing and submitting high quality targeted funding applications.
5. Maintaining an effective stewardship programme for trusts and foundations including appropriate accurate records, ensuring the fundraising e-Tapestry database is kept up-todate and that fundraising income is processed efficiently with timely thank you letters and acknowledgements.
6. Managing relationships with existing and new funders to encourage maximum funding, multi-year funding awards and repeat funding.
7. Monitoring outcomes, updating the Funding Matrix and producing timely reports and information as required externally by funders and internally for Management reporting.
8. Promoting the support of funders through press releases and social media posts.
9. Adhering to standards of fundraising best practise as set out in the Institute of Fundraising’s Code of Practise and ensuring all activities comply with relevant Data Protection obligations and any other legislation

Job Purpose - Facilities Manager - Projects 

The role holder will report directly to the Head of Estates whilst working closely with the Facilities Manager and the wider team, as well as operational colleagues.

The role holder will be responsible for the delivery of specific ad hoc estates projects, whilst also providing support to the wider Estates team in the delivery of business-as-usual activity to ensure the development of an estate that delivers outstanding outcomes for the people we support, ensuring the portfolio is managed safely, cost effectively and in accordance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

This role requires an individual with strong project management capability within an estate’s environment, with a demonstrable track record of delivery of projects on time, to Budget and to the requisite level of quality.

Reporting directly to the Head of Estates, the role holder will: 

• Lead the estates input in the expansion of the existing property footprint.
• Onboard new additions to the estate’s property portfolio efficiently and effectively.
• Work collaboratively with operational colleagues ensuring “best outcomes” are delivered for the people we support in the development and maintenance of the estate.
• Support the wider estates team in the delivery of business-as-usual activities.
• Be visible and on site to ensure the smooth running of projects and the timely resolution of issues. 

Dimensions

Whilst the role currently has no direct reports assigned, the level of project activity and the consequential resource requirements will determine any additional staffing needs. The nature of individual projects will determine this although it is anticipated that project spend will be circa £0.5m+ per annum.

Principal Accountabilities

Estates and Facilities Management 

• Responsibility: Act as the senior estates and facilities professional on project work assigned. 

• Project Plans: Ensure there is a clear and documented estates plan for each project assigned and lead the implementation of these plans to ensure best possible outcomes for the people we support. In the planning and delivery of projects, the role holder must ensure that due consideration is given to operational requirements. 

• Project Performance: Ensure a robust contract performance management framework is in place for each project. 

• Regulatory: Ensure all project work is undertaken in accordance with applicable regulatory and statutory requirements. 

• Resource Management: Manage and co-ordinate both AFG staff and external contractors in the delivery of projects. Where required mitigating actions/plans may need to be taken to ensure that projects are delivered to requirements. 

• Onboarding: With support from the Head of Estates, lead the estates input re. property acquisition (both support with the identification of appropriate property and subsequent due diligence). 

• Expansion: With support from the Head of Estates, lead the estates input re. the expansion of existing estates footprint. 

• Business Cases: Prepare business cases, feasibility studies for consideration by the Head of Estates and onwards by the Executive/Director team. 

• Business as Usual Estates Activity: The role holder will be required to work alongside the Estates Manager and the wider estates team in the delivery of business-as-usual estates activity (including site visits, contract monitoring meetings, supervision of reactive repairs etc.), where project requirements mean the role holder has capacity to undertake this work. 

Financial Management

• Financial Performance: Manage project related budgets, ensuring projects are delivered to Budget, to the requisite quality and to time. 

• Procurement: Work closely with the Procurement team to source potential suppliers for services and ensure those services are sourced on a “Value for money” (VFM) basis, and in accordance with the terms of the Scheme of Reservation and Delegation. 

• Tenders: Working closely with the Procurement function of the Charity, take the estates lead in tender activity where assigned, ensuring that activity is undertaken in accordance with the Scheme of Reservation and Delegation. 

• Cost Reduction/Service Improvement: Lead in ensuring we are continually striving to reduce cost/improve service provision. 

• Commercial Acumen: Commercially savvy to drive continuous improvement opportunities (both financial and operational).

• Estates Development: Ensure development activity within the estate takes account of environmental considerations/technological advances in the go-forward design.

Job Purpose - Commercial Analyst 

The primary objective of this role is to deliver a broad programme of market and commercial research and analysis to underpin AFG’s growth ambitions and to manage AFG’s commercial risks.

The role will shape and deliver a comprehensive and systematic approach to market analysis whilst also ensuring that AFG’s contractual obligations are clearly documented and understood.

About the Role

This is a strategically important role as AFG aim to positively impact more lives and drive business growth both in its current geographies and in new geographies.

The role will ensure that AFG’s growth plans are informed by high-quality research and analysis. This will include geographical analysis, the systematic review of key competitors, and key market trends both regionally and nationally.

The role will also ensure that key information is available to decision-makers covering existing contracts with commissioners and Service Level Agreements with housing partners.

Job Purpose

Increasing numbers of Disabled people are becoming aware of the fact that CYCLING might be possible for them. However, information about how/where to access cycling, the variety of possible equipment, regulations around cycling a non-standard cycle, funding avenues, etc. can be difficult to find. As the Wheels4MeLondon loan scheme starts to be marketed in Spring/Summer 2024, we anticipate increasing numbers of enquiries to reach us, including from around the UK.

With the support of the rest of the Wheels for Wellbeing team, our Specialist Advisor will become very knowledgeable about all aspects of Inclusive Cycling and will support enquirers with information and advice about the most appropriate next steps with regards to their cycling ambitions. They will provide information and advice, based on where enquirers live, their level of experience with cycling, their goals (whether they wish to try out cycling, to borrow, hire or to purchase a cycle, etc.).

Where a caller wishes to attend one of our own cycling sessions, the Advisor will support them with using our booking system. Where a caller is ready to borrow a cycle through Wheels4MeLondon, the Specialist Advisor will support callers to request a loan via the Peddle My Wheels website. Peddle My Wheels staff will then deliver the cycle to them at the agreed place and time, provide cycle training where required, and collect the cycle at the end of the loan period. For other enquiries, the Advisor will signpost callers to relevant external organisations.

To be successful in this role you need excellent listening and communication, interpersonal and organisational skills. You will love acquiring knowledge (including through online research), storing information and sharing it. You need to be confident using record keeping systems, within our data protection & privacy policy and working with people from diverse backgrounds and with a range of accessibility needs.

Job Description

a. Being first point of contact for enquiries into Wheels for Wellbeing’s phone / email.

e. Supporting people with queries about how to access Wheels for Wellbeing’s services, including support with our booking system

a. Inclusive cycling opportunities providers in London and around the UK

b. Types & models of non-standard cycles and specialist adaptions retailers around the UK and overseas

c. Details of the Wheels4Me London’s scheme and other inclusive cycle hire/loan schemes around the UK.

d. Funding options for Disabled people wishing to purchase their own cycles

3. Effective liaison with all Wheels4MeLondonPlus partners for successful cycle loan experience. This will include:

a. Regular communication with the Peddle My Wheels team to ensure most effective referral methods (to be developed with your input, as the scheme gets off the ground during Spring/Summer 2024)

b. Take part in project team meetings with all partners (Sustrans London; Peddle My Wheels and the rest of the WfW team).

c. Collect and store data such as numbers & types of enquiries, case studies, etc., as required for reporting to the funder.

d. Contribute to short articles, social media posts, etc. for the promotion of Wheels for Me London and Inclusive Cycling in general.

About the role

Ruils is a user-led charity that supports disabled adults and people with long-term health and/or mental health conditions to live independently, be part of their community and live life to the full. We provide information, advice, practical support, befriending and accessible activities to our clients and families.

We are working with the SWL ICB and local GPs to deliver an exciting new service within Hampton North. The Community Health and Wellbeing Worker will speak to households about health and wellbeing, alongside offering support to connect people to services and activities in their local community. The role aims to empower people to take control of their lives.

It involves working with people who may be experiencing a number of issues, so you will need outstanding listening and communication skills, empathy and enthusiasm. You will need excellent organisational skills, be adept at seeking out information for relevant community services and have the tenacity to help people achieve sustainable improvements in their wellbeing.

Main duties include:

• Managing a caseload of households, providing monthly home visits and providing a continuous point of contact for all members of the household.
• Working with the client to assess their needs, create personalised action plans and locate support within the community.
• Supporting clients to prioritise and address practical, health, social and emotional issues in their lives which affect their wellbeing.
• Engaging with community organisations and specialist services that provide support to ease the pathway for your clients.
• Building and maintaining relationships with primary care networks, GPs, health care professionals and services across the borough.

Community Fundraising Manager

The Mencap Community and Events Team has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, motivated and passionate fundraiser,  dedicated to raising as much funds as possible to help make the UK the best place to live for people with a learning disability to join our team as Senior Community Fundraising Manager covering England and Wales.

Covering the England and Wales the Community Fundraising Manager will be responsible for managing various income streams across the Community portfolio working closely with the wider team.

Within this role, you will achieve agreed fundraising targets through effective management, support and cultivation of both existing and new regional supporters including: individuals, groups, associations, local corporates and schools whilst maximising the current portfolio of Mencap owned products. You will research, identify and develop new community fundraising opportunities, areas of potential support and build a robust pipeline for restricted grants and corporate partners.

The role is home based. There will be travel around the areas that the role covers.

This position is a permanent, full-time role to work 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday. The nature of community fundraising is that there will be evening and weekend work, for which time off in lieu will be given.

Key skills and requirements (essential):

· The ability to develop, implement and monitor strategic plans, present budgets and interpret financial information

· The ability to research, assess and initiate new opportunities within the context of an overall plan

· Able to recruit, develop and train, motivate and manage individuals and teams of Volunteers to give their very best

· Able to use interpersonal skills in order to engage effectively with others, understand what motivates them and respond appropriately

· Written communication skills and a high level of numeracy to be able to produce business plans, monthly reviews, press releases, letters, presentations and other similar documents

· Excellent verbal communication skills, to be able to deliver presentations and give local media interviews
