As an Employment Coach with our Employcare Project you will be supporting unpaid carers living in Manchester; providing support and coaching in order for them to re-enter paid employment or voluntary roles. The successful candidates will manage a small caseload of carers and provide them with 1:1 support, helping them overcome barriers to employment and training. You will be responsible for supporting them through every stage of their journey, enabling participants to address their barriers and realise their aspirations.
This role is subject to a Basic DBS check.

We are recruiting for a Divisional Children’s Worker to provide practical knowledge, expertise, and example of children’s ministry. Working to develop and deliver a children’s work strategy to enable local corps and centres to raise leaders and children who are disciples of Jesus in our tradition of social change and justice. The South West Divisional Headquarters is in Exeter and the applicant will be required to travel there at least once fortnightly as well as visiting various areas across the division including Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Wiltshire, Bristol and Gloucestershire. Although, this post will be more focused in Somerset, Bristol, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire.
Key responsibilities include:
- Equipping and empowering children’s leaders to enhance their communities and engage with children and the issues that affect them.
- Enabling children to experience ‘Fullness of life with Jesus’ in broader contexts. This might involve leading event and residential opportunities as well as children’s work in corps contexts.
- Contributing into the planning and review process for the programmes and activities across the division.
This role has an occupational requirement that you must be a committed and practising Christian. As well as being an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal and organisational skills, you will have:
- A recognised qualification in youth work and/or good experience of working with young people in outreach, discipleship, and leadership.
- Practical experience of developing community youth outreach projects and schools based mentoring programmes.
- Relevant technical skills, including project management, finance, stakeholder engagement, social media.
- The ability to work flexibly including evenings, weekends, overnight and residential weeks when necessary.
- A clean driving licence

We are looking to appoint a Family Support Worker to deliver a high-quality family support service as part of our Reading Team.
Reporting to the Family Support Manager and working in partnership with health, education and social care professionals, you will take responsibility for providing needs-led emotional, social and practical support to families where a child/young person has a life threatening or terminal illness.

You will deliver specialist interventions as part of our intensive family support programme exploring risk factors such as substance use, parental mental health and reducing parental conflict. We’re looking for a Community Engagement Officer who will strengthen our links within the local community, such that more people know about Thrive, understand what we do and access our programs.
Funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, we’re looking to significantly build on our fantastic work in Birmingham over the next two years. Working as a key part of the team at Thrive in Birmingham, the Community Engagement Officer will increase participation and strengthen our referral pathways through productive relationships. Such that engagement with our services is representative of the diversity within our locality. The successful candidate will have strong communication and organisational skills. We’re looking for a relational operator who can confidently facilitate visitors and work independently with a range of external partners.

They have a new opportunity for a Homeless Recovery Worker to join them to work with people who are experiencing repeat homelessness and rough sleeping and who face multiple challenges.
This is a key role in which you will support clients and help them to progress and achieve their goals. Your positive attitude towards your work and your team will help to contribute to a great working environment. You will have a calm and personable manner and be resilient to potentially difficult situations.
Some of your duties will include:
- Supporting your own caseload of clients and working with them on a one to one basis out in the community and in the clients homes.
- Identifying their needs and putting together a support plan which is equally achievable and realistic for them
- Linking with outreach workers and other agencies to build rapport and trust with clients who are homeless in preparation for them getting their own accommodation
- Working with people to identify their strengths and talents, and encourage them to focus and build on these
- Helping clients to access the benefits they are entitled to claim
- Encouraging their involvement in personal progression in the form of education, training, employment activity or volunteering
- Helping them improve their practical skills in areas such as budgeting, shopping, cooking, housework and managing a tenancy
- Working with external partners to maximise the opportunities available to clients so that they can resettle in the community.
- Gaining knowledge and understanding of the Housing First principles and how Housing First uses a client-led approach
- Working in accordance with the Health and Safety regulations and all policies and procedures

What you will bring:

We are recruiting for a number of roles in our GMIRS Wellbeing Service, providing support to people on probation. There are roles at both project worker and team leader level.
Back on Track is part of a partnership of charities working in local communities across Greater Manchester to deliver the GMIRS Wellbeing Service. The service aims to reduce reoffending by working with people to improve their physical, emotional, and mental health and wellbeing, foster healthy relationships and move forward in their lives.
We are looking for three project workers (salary £27,800 – £32,000) who will build strong relationships with people who join the programme, provide 1:1 wellbeing support and guidance, and support with practical challenges including debt, low level housing needs, finance and benefits.
We are also looking for two team leaders (£31,400 – £33,650) who will bring knowledge and experience to directly support participants of the programme, offer support and guidance to project workers, and provide coordination and developmental support to the Manchester GMIRS Wellbeing Service.
In all roles you will be working with people who have a range of needs. This will include people who have experienced trauma, who have been homeless or lived in poverty, and people who face difficulties with mental health and problematic drug and alcohol use.

Your primary role will be to keep their service and the people that use it, safe. Your positive attitude towards your work and others will help to contribute to a great working environment. You will have a calm and personable manner and be able to handle potentially difficult situations.
Some of your duties will include:

Being the first welcoming friendly face for people coming into the service

Providing informal support to clients and be a listening ear

Responding to incoming calls
