This post sits within the Care Team Approach, an integrated team providing support to people living with Psychosis, helping them develop their independence, self-management skills and achieve their recovery goals.

We are recruiting a Mental Health Advisor to work within this fast paced and innovative service. You will have the case management experience and skills to deliver focused, person-centred, individual support and IAG (Information, Advice and Guidance) as part of the multidisciplinary team, working alongside clinical staff. You will support clients with a range of social issues including promoting social integration. You will liaise appropriately with specialists and professionals within the wider team.

This newly created role will coordinate persuasive proposals and bids with colleagues across the organisation– working to increase the reach of Phoenix Futures. You will support with the development of fundraising initiatives and produce high quality written materials demonstrating the measurable impact of our services on people’s lives.

The Role

As Strategic Development Officer, you will play a key supporting role in advancing our growth strategy across health and social care settings. Working closely with colleagues and partners, you will help to expand our reach across the UK, ensuring our services are available to those that need them.

You will be responsible for preparing and submitting high quality bids and funding proposals, coordinating input from cross functional teams and producing compelling communications materials. Your work will involve gathering evidence, best practice and case studies to showcase our impact as well as supporting fundraising initiatives and marketing analysis.

• Be a experienced in bid writing, proposal development and supporting strategic initiatives.

As Social Work Practice Assessor (Student Placement Coordinator) you will be working with universities, St Mungo's services and students on placement ensuring high quality and meaningful placements

In this role you will:

• Plan and manage social work students’ placements and ensure the provision of appropriate learning opportunities.
• Practice Educate up to 6 students at any one time whilst also overseeing the scheme.
• Facilitate the involvement of student nurses
• Provide support for local service-based supervisors to develop their knowledge and skills in supporting and supervising students on placement in their teams.

Sessional Assessing Social Worker

We are recruiting sessional assessing social workers to undertake Form F assessments .  Our assessments are undertaken face to face. Applicants should be able to travel across South East London, and North Kent areas for assessment visits to prospective foster carers. 

Key Duties for Form F Assessors include:

• To undertake and complete Form F assessments in the timescale set out in our policy and guidance.
• To visit personal referees as identified on application form for prospective foster carers.
• To ensure that all checks and references are undertaken and completed.
• To provide to the supervisor, regular written updates of the draft assessment.
• To liaise with our administrative team concerning the progress of administrative checks and completion of the Form F.
• To be available for supervision, consultation or liaison as required.
• To be available to present completed Form Fs to the virtual fostering panel and provide support to the applicants through this process.
• To be aware of our child protection procedures and immediately report any child protection matter or concerns to a TACT manager and any relevant placing authority and the area authority.
• To carry out the duties in line with our Foster Carer and Supervising Social Worker Standards and Practice Guidance.

Rates of Pay for Form F Assessors

• We will pay £2250 (inclusive of VAT) + up to £500 bonus payments (if criteria are met) upon submission of a successfully completed Form F Assessment.
• £37.50 per hour for assessments which are not completed, and any other piece of work.

In this role, you will work closely with Primary Care Networks, GP practices, local authorities, social workers, voluntary sector, community centres, and faith groups to help identify and engage with Unpaid Adult Carers, Young Adult Carers and Young Carers.  

In this role, you will support services to improve registration, communication, support and accessibility, promoting ‘Carer Friendly’ environments and practice that supports the wellbeing of Unpaid Carers.

By collating and sharing successes, you will support the development of good practice across primary healthcare, social care and community services in the borough.

About You

Experience in mental health or support work is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.

• To comply with any Health & Safety regulations and, in particular, be familiar with the procedure to be adopted in case of fire and or other Health and Safety concerns e.g. Risk Assessments.

Qualifications:

• Experience of teaching and assessing Health and Social Care qualifications in post 16/further education or adult education.
• Experience of teaching adult learners of mixed abilities and an understanding of appropriate teaching strategies in a similar role.
• Occupational competence/experience in health and social care setting.
• Experience of assessing and recording progress, both in accredited and non-accredited learning and supporting learners.
• Knowledge and experience of working with a variety of exam boards.
• Understanding of the RARPA (Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement in non-accredited learning) system.
• Experience of working/teaching refugees and or asylum seekers.

Personal Skills:

• The ability to plan programmes of work and develop creative, relevant activities that will facilitate learning.
• The ability to motivate and encourage learners with a variety of learning experiences and from diverse backgrounds.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and the ability to work as part of a highly collaborative team.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Social Worker to support children and young people diagnosed with cancer in our Liverpool Team.

We pride ourselves on delivering the highest quality support tailored to the needs of the children and young people and their families using a needs based assessment framework. The work we do is rewarding, but also complex and demanding. You will be part of a close-knit Young Lives vs Cancer social work team, working with an established NHS multi-disciplinary team and services in the community across Liverpool and Merseyside.

This role is part home, part site-based – within the parameters of our hybrid working arrangements you will work flexibly across home, Liverpool Clatterbridge Cancer Centre and Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. Your contractual base will be both Home and the Hospitals. Your flexibility requirements and that of the role will be discussed at the interview stage.

What will I be doing?

No two days are the same at Young Lives vs Cancer. So, summarising your ‘day to day’ isn’t easy. Here are some of the main things you’ll be doing, but you’ll find more details in the job description.

• You will work in partnership with families to provide in-person and remote support to children and young people (0-24 years) diagnosed with cancer, and their families.
• You will provide practical and emotional support to mitigate the impact of a cancer diagnosis and provide support during the cancer journey via expert, needs-led interventions.
• You and your team will work closely with colleagues across our local NHS multi-disciplinary teams and other professionals in the community.
• You will ensure the voice of young cancer patients and their families are included in your work at all opportunities and take an active role in amplifying their voices internally and externally.
• You will be an active team member, regularly attending team meetings and contributing to shared learning and development.

You will have:

• A recognised Social Worker qualification and current registration with Social Work England / Scottish Social Services Council / Social Care Wales / Northern Ireland Social Care Council.
• Experience working with children, young people and their families/carers in a social care setting.
• Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment, ideally in an NHS setting.
• Sound knowledge of child and young people development.
• An understanding of the impact of serious illness for children, young people and their families.

Social Work Adviser

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join us as a Social Work Adviser (Child Welfare and Safeguarding) based at the Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) in Westminster, seconded from Heathrow Travel Care (HTC), the airport social work team. You will join us on a full-time, 18 month contract (potential extension upon mutual agreement) and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £40,000 per annum, plus benefits.

The role of our Social Work Adviser (Child Welfare and Safeguarding) is to enable the FCDO to offer advice and assistance to vulnerable British nationals known to the UK Consular Network.

Responsibilities as our Social Work Adviser (Child Welfare and Safeguarding):

FCDO

• Providing advice, support and guidance to consular assistance staff in London and staff based overseas on child safeguarding social work issues for British nationals
• Working jointly with the consular child policy unit (CPU) to review child-related cases and policy
• Working collaboratively with the social work advisor team to review cases and relevant policy
• Investigating, signposting, planning with consular staff who are working with British nationals to provide specialist children and families advice to the consular staff
• Referring 'meet and assist’ cases to relevant service providers at UK ports
• Undertaking the risk assessment of cases
• Ensuring policy, guidance and training are inputted to the consular staff on child welfare issues
• Building and maintaining links with relevant assistance NGOs & travel partners via outreach work
• Building and maintaining links with Consular Regional Directors
• Covering for the Social Work Adviser team as required
• Recording all cases on a secure consular information network and monthly reporting to HTC
• Maintaining international outreach – there may be opportunities for international travel to support FCDO staff abroad

What we’re looking for in our Social Work Adviser (Children & Families):

• 2 years’ recent statutory social work experience
• Recent experience of working directly with children and families to statutory standards

• Experience of making and recording risk assessments, including Safe Lives RIC and other evidence-based assessment tools
• Experience of problem-solving under time pressure
• Experience of prioritising casework according to risk and need
• Working knowledge of child safeguarding procedures within Local Authorities
• An understanding of child safeguarding policy
• The ability to work effectively in partnership with other agencies
• The ability to make clear recommendations on how to address risk and need based on professional judgement and experience.
• The ability to recognise signs that a child may not be meeting developmental milestones, has been harmed or is at risk of harm
• The ability to advocate for children and young people, to ensure they receive organisational focus, resource and support as appropriate
