Do you want to make a difference now and for the future?

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team in East Sussex who support Young Carers, aged 5-18 years, who have caring responsibilities for someone in their family due to disability, long-term illness, mental health, or drug or alcohol misuse.

You will manage an existing caseload and new referrals, meeting with families and Young Carers to complete statutory assessments and providing short-term interventions that support Young Carers to improve their resilience, educational chances and wellbeing. This might be signposting to local services, action planning, one-to-one support, or our workshop programme.

Working closely with schools and Childrens Services, you will make referrals to a range of professionals and community services, ensuring whole family needs are met, and thereby reducing the impact of caring on the Young Carer.

As a CYP Coordinator, you will plan and deliver workshop sessions and activities, providing opportunities for Young Carers to spend time with their peers and recognise that they are not alone.

This is a full-time role delivering the service across Hastings & Rother and includes working occasionally at our Lamberhurst office. Some early evenings required. Own car essential.

We are looking for people with great energy and motivation to join our Short Breaks service which offers a chance for young people with an additional need/ disability to have fun and a break from daily routines, and helps families to enjoy quality time, local activities, and connections with others.

2 x CYP Coordinator- Short Breaks- 30 hours- Ashford and Swale, Canterbury and Thanet

Our holiday and weekend activities give parents and carers a break while providing participants a safe, welcoming space to have fun and receive the care they need. Our coordinators plan, arrange and deliver a programme of activities shaped around the needs of the young people, making the most of local opportunities, from heritage sites and outdoor adventures, to sports, arts and crafts, cooking, and team challenges. These sessions help children build friendships, grow in confidence, and express themselves in a fun, supportive space.

1 x CYP Coordinator- Short Breaks Family Days- 30 hours- Kent wide

Family days bring families together to create special memories and enjoy time with others who share similar experiences. The coordinator develops and facilitates activity days which involve the whole family and provide opportunities to build friendships and connections with others. Activities take place at outdoor centres, local heritage sites and museums, as well as organised beach days and community centre-based workshops and activities.

Applicants should have relevant experience of working or volunteering with children and young people in education, health or social care, and have exceptional organisation and communication skills. 

The roles are 30 hours per week, working Wednesday to Saturday. In school holiday periods, more activities take place on weekdays (instead of Saturdays), so flexibility is needed.

It’s essential that applicants have their own car and are willing to drive a minibus (full training provided).

Approach Social Work is a fully funded social work training programme that helps you become a children’s social worker through hands-on experience, academic study and expert support. 

On the programme, you’ll develop a deep understanding of child-focused social work practice and how to build relationships that create real change. You’ll explore anti-discriminatory, anti-oppressive and anti-racist approaches, while working towards a postgraduate diploma and master’s degree in social work. 

What to expect 

Year one: 

• Begin study for your postgraduate diploma in social work

About You  

You will be a highly motivated and dynamic individual who is passionate about collaboration and community-led change.  You will have experience of engaging and supporting people in a community, charity, education, social care, housing, youth work, or other people-focused role using a range of facilitation tools, techniques and Community Development skills. • A Community Development qualification and/or transferable Community Development skills and experience.

• A basic understanding of the Asset-Based Community Development approach (ABCD) is required however full support and development of this practice and our internal ways of working will be provided.

PLEASE NOTE:  

• The successful candidate will need to be based within a 30-minute commute of their allocated locality and there is a requirement to travel regularly across the wider area (travel expenses covered).  The successful candidate must possess a valid full UK driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle with business insurance for work purposes.  

• There will also be a requirement for occasional travel to other UK locations for meetings and events depending on the charity’s needs such as our annual all colleagues in person event.   

• The successful candidate will work 35 hours per week over 5 days, Monday - Sunday. Core working days will be Monday to Friday; however, flexibility is essential, as regular evening and weekend work will also be required to meet the needs of the role. Job Title: Night Mental Health Rehabilitation Worker

Location: Based in Catford in a well connected area near Bellingham, Catford, and Catford Bridge stations, with nearby bus stops. Please be kindly aware there is no step free access at this location and some of our other sites.

Salary: £27,000

Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Sunday on a rota which includes 3 to 4 night shifts a week between 20:00 - 08:30. There may be some flexibility required around these hours and work bank holidays as part of a rota, as per service requirements.

About the Role

We're hiring a Mental Health Rehabilitation Worker to join our residential Rehabilitation Service team based in South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLAM). The Rehabilitation service works with adults aged between 18 and 65, from Croydon, Lewisham, and Southwark. You will be part of a service which offers 24 hour support across 2 buildings in Catford. The service offers specialist intensive rehabilitation for people who require more enhanced interventions than that which is offered within community services. Our residents typically stay with us for up to nine months upon being discharged from acute wards, avoiding admission into inpatient rehabilitation. We provide residents with support to step down into less supported accommodation, becoming more independent and integrated into the community. 

You will work directly with our residents to support them to overcome their personal barriers and challenges to achieve positive outcomes. You will do this through one to one support sessions, group sessions and activities, and general support with their daily living. This is not a personal care role, but is a role to rehabilitate and empower our residents towards independent living.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Supporting residents with taking their correct medication
• Carrying out various health and safety tasks, including reporting repairs and maintenance
• Keeping support plans up to date using our online portal
• Remain alert and monitor CCTV throughout the shift
• Complete all routine night duties and any tasks handed over by the day shift or service manager
• Plan and deliver various activities which includes within the service and outside in the local community. This can include days out to museums and other areas of interest by our residents
• Carrying out housing management support including welfare benefits support

You will be able build rapport and trusting relations with others in a professional setting, and able to build positive outcomes. • Previous professional or lived experience supporting people who face challenges with their mental health
• You will be able to show empathy and compassion to our residents, and different challenges they face

• You will need some level of IT ability as we record records using our online CRM systems and use Microsoft programs daily
• You will have previous experience working with people with multiple and complex needs, ideally in mental health
• You will have previous experience in creating co-produced support plans, key working, and care plans
• You will understand the housing and social needs of people with multiple and complex needs and be aware of the social marginalisation that can be attached to people who face personal challenges

About the role

The Social Media and Marketing Officer will deliver high-performing digital marketing campaigns that drive supporter acquisition and engagement. Working within the charity’s Policy and Communications team, you will focus on content creation to support a broad range of charity initiatives, ranging from fundraising campaigns to promoting events including our annual conference and signature fundraising event, the Duchenne Dash, and disseminating news to our stakeholders and community.

In the role you will:

• Support the implementation and delivery of multi-channel campaigns that build awareness of Duchenne UK’s work, promote our events, projects and outputs, and support fundraising goals.
• Take responsibility for the charity’s social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok), ensuring consistent, engaging, and mission-led content – planning, scheduling and publishing content.
