A new role, the Fianacial Accountant will support the Head of Finance in managing GWT’s day to day finances as well as providing routine financial advice to the head office staff.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, this role is a lead for ensuring financial compliance within UK head office including Fundraising and Gurkha Welfare Advice Centre (GWAC) and will ensure the effective financial management of UK activity through to trial balance and ensuring accuracy of monthly reconciliations.

This is a hands-on financial accounting role needing a practical, problem solving approach and has the opportunity to add real value to the team.

Key duties and responsibilities

This role’s primary responsibilities will be as follows:

• Lead the month-end processes for UK activity (head office, Fundraising and GWAC) to ensure that deadlines are met through:
  • overseeing the timely and accurate financial transaction processing in the finance system;
  • reconciliation of Balance Sheet accounts and resolving discrepancies in a prompt manner;
  • ensuring the accurate and timely reconciliation of all bank accounts; and,
  • end to end reconciliation of income through the fundraising CRM to finance systems (including Department, Restriction and Trading).
     
• Be responsible for the timely payment of invoices by the Finance Assistant.
   
• Draft monthly finance data dashboard and quarterly management accounts including variance analysis, liaising with budget holders as required, and assist in preparing annual budgets for UK activity.
   
• Lead for financial compliance in the UK including raising awareness through events such as the Charity Fraud Awareness Week, and reviewing all financial policies on annual basis.
   
• Manage and support two part-time team members through training, professional coaching and development.
   
• Deputise for the Head of Finance on matters related to financial management of UK operations including representing at the senior management meetings.
   
• Support the Head of Finance in the year-end process and preparation of financial documents for annual audit.
   
• Proactively seek opportunities for continuous improvement within financial systems and accounting processes and controls.

About the role:

Due to the requirements of the role, you will be required to work from the Southampton office for all shifts.

As a Triage & Early Interventions Officer Assistant you will:

• Assist the caseworker in answering the telephone and contacting clients as required
• Update and maintain manual and computerised database and case management systems and records in accordance with the service's internal policies/procedures and organisational standards
• Assist the caseworker with navigation around the building, including greeting outside the entrance and escorting to desk.
• Communicate with victim's in a written format, including text, email and letter under the guidance of the caseworker.

Role Summary    

The Graphic Designer plays a key role in shaping and maintaining Alcohol Change UK’s visual identity. This role is responsible for producing engaging visual content across multiple digital and print channels to inform, engage, and inspire our audiences, and across our flagship campaigns including the Dry January® challenge. We’re looking for a part-time Trusts Fundraising Officer to contribute their skills, experience, and personality to add value to our Trusts team within the Fundraising department at Blesma, The Limbless Veterans.

This home-based role is now available due to the current post holder moving on to new pastures. The Trust team has had incredible success in recent years, which we are eager to sustain and grow. The successful candidate will provide support to the Trusts Fundraising Manager and work alongside a fellow part-time Trusts Fundraising Officer within this ambitious team.

The role is a varied one, focusing on all aspects of the funding cycle – from identifying opportunities and building relationships, to writing compelling applications and providing high level stewardship. The team works collaboratively across the Association to ensure Blesma’s programmes and services can continue to help limbless veterans and their families.

Living Paintings is the national charity on a mission to ensure every blind child in the UK has equal access to the visual world of pictures, books and learning. MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

In this role you will lead on maintaining, developing, and delivering all aspects of our charity’s communications strategy and its associated activities, working closely with the Communications Assistant as well as the CEO, Fundraising Lead, Library Manager and Publishing Manager. Primarily an outward facing role, the postholder will ensure that the charity has the broadest possible positive exposure to stakeholders – both current and future – and continue to build Living Paintings into a credible, recognisable and positive brand.

We have a unique opportunity for an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor in a pilot project at Charing Cross Emergency Department. This s a full time position working 37.5 hours per week.

Co-locating, in a health service, an Independent Domestic Abuse Advocate (IDVA), a Domestic Abuse (DA) Coordinator and a violence prevention worker has never been trialed before anywhere in the UK.

This pilot project aims to showcase a gold standard approach to care for families experiencing DA by: -

• Improving recognition and management of victims and perpetrators of DA
• on-site specialised help for victims and perpetrators
• Building sustainable and long-term partnership with Hammersmith & Fulham council, Standing Together Against Domestic Violence (STADV), and Domestic Violence Intervention Project (DVIP).

About the role:

You may be a qualified IDVA or a Domestic Abuse Outreach Worker wanting to work alongside health professionals in a hospital environment, although we will consider applicants from other fields providing you are able to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of domestic abuse.

This role is co-located within Charing Cross Hospital 4 days per week and 1 day per week at our office near Old Street.

You will:

• Implement effective ways of working with victims and those supporting them to increase safety and reduce harm.

• Provide a high-quality, front-line service to victims of domestic abuse, delivering a premium service prioritised according to risk, primarily focusing on victim/survivors aged 16+

• Work within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership responses to domestic abuse to keep safety central to all services for victims of domestic abuse.

• Be comfortable with running group training sessions and be willing and able to share your specialist knowledge with acute staff across the hospital.

• Have excellent communication skills, a proactive approach and the confidence to be able to influence the way in which this service is delivered are key.

Age UK Lambeth’s vision is to work closely with residents, closely to where they live, remain relevant and to respond locally to rising needs. Hospitals need to free up beds by discharging patients who do not need to remain in hospital. Despite the pressures we want discharges to be safe, successful and as painless as possible for patients. We also want to ensure a patient is not readmitted into hospital. 

The Hospital Discharge Community Support Coordinator will match Age UK Lambeth (AUKL) volunteers and partner organisation volunteers to support a patient's discharge. Volunteers could provide support with transport, practical support such as food shopping or completing home safety checks. Upon discharge volunteers may continue supporting patients for up to 4 weeks, providing support in person (at the individual's home or in the community) and over the phone, linking them into support services and helping them access the community to prevent hospital readmission.

1. Oversee the development of a new, inclusive volunteer programme that offers a range of diverse and challenging volunteer roles to support patients leaving hospital and once settled home. 

2. Work in partnership with the VCS to create 100 volunteering opportunities to support hospital discharge.

3. Using the volunteer platform, Care for Me, track allocated tasks to ensure they’re completed. Monitor volunteer reports to review the support and work delivered under the project.

4. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with King’s College Hospital and Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital to ensure appropriate referrals are made into the service.

This is an exciting time for an experienced and ambitious senior corporate fundraiser to join our high performing corporate partnerships team and lead the New Business function. Family Action recently undertook a major brand review and launched a new website, and income generation is a key priority in our 2024-29 strategy. This role will be focused on developing and growing new business activity, including identifying and securing new high-value partnerships, creating and implementing a robust growth strategy and ensuring we have the tools to deliver it. Main Responsibilities (for details check the job description and person specification):

• Leading a small team to drive forward new business activity; identifying, cultivating and securing new income generation opportunities with corporate partners across strategic, commercial and charity of the year style collaborations.

• Creating and implementing a growth strategy for new business, developing our corporate partnerships proposition, maximising income and delivering on our overall charitable strategy and objectives. 

• Implementing effective processes, systems and frameworks to increase partnership opportunities and the success of our new business activity.

• Working with senior stakeholders internally and externally to identify and secure partnership opportunities that further shared goals.

• Working with the Corporate Team and other teams and colleagues across the organisation to ensure the smooth setup and onboarding of new partnerships.

Role Purpose

Our Communications Officer will help raise awareness of our work with our national partners and stakeholders. Working closely with the wider communications team, you’ll play a key role identifying opportunities to inform and engage our audiences through a range of communications, both digital and offline. You’ll have a strong eye for a compelling story to help demonstrate our impact and inspire collaboration from our partners, and you’ll know how to share these in the most effective ways to generate engagement.

You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, pulling together work from across the organisation and our programmes into a clear plan to share with our national stakeholders. This will require a highly organised approach, a strong eye for detail and ability to work to tight deadlines.

You’ll be committed to our organisational values and the need for continued learning and improvement necessary for Thrive at Five to develop a new place-based model for supporting early childhood development.

Role Description

• Working with the senior communications manager, regional communications coordinators and fundraising team, implement a national content strategy and identify opportunities to share our work, including events and activities, in line with Thrive at Five’s communications aims and objectives
• Plan, write and edit a range of copy, both on and offline, including case studies, newsletters, blogs, infographics, films / video and promotional documents
• Produce content for Thrive at Five’s national LinkedIn channel, including videos, images and text, to support our overarching communications strategy and objectives  
• Analyse national and regional content performance across all channels and explore opportunities to drive audience engagement and growth, ensuring all online copy adheres to SEO best practice 
• Keep the Thrive at Five website up to date, writing and uploading regular news posts and blogs from across our programmes and activities 
• Support the senior communications manager to monitor and identify relevant opportunities for Thrive at Five to react to news, participate in online discussions and share insights to strengthen the brand’s authority 
• Work with the senior communications manager to review and update Thrive at Five’s brand guidelines, rolling out across the organisation and ensuring colleagues understand and can confidently apply them 
• Support the communications team with CRM and stakeholder management 
• Supporting wider communications activities as needed, particularly during busy periods

Requirements

Essential

• Minimum of three years’ experience in a related communications role, including copywriting and content creation
• Excellent copywriting and editorial skills, including long-form content
• Experience delivering and reporting on content strategies
• Experience producing high-quality, clear, compelling, and audience-appropriate content for a range of platforms
• Experience working with and editing websites and CMS
• Ability to work as part of a team and build excellent working relationships internally and externally

Shine Nurse Specialist (Adult Nursing/ Registered General Nurse)

Location: Home based - within a commutable distance of London as there will be a requirement for fortnightly travel to the Chelsea & Westminster Clinic and with additional occasional travel across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. 

Shine’s Health Team 

Shine’s Health Team provides condition-specific health advice and support to people of all ages with spina bifida, hydrocephalus, NPH or IIH, promoting good self-management and enabling our members to live in optimum health.  The Team also aims to reduce the numbers of pregnancies affected by spina bifida and anencephaly through education around supplementation and fortification with folic acid, and other measures. 

Purpose of Job 

The Shine Nurse Specialist will deliver services and create resources to improve the health of Shine’s members, by informing members, their carers and professionals 

Principal Duties 

• To provide ad hoc advice to Shine’s members, their carers  and professionals on complex health issues, and signpost to NHS services 

• To attend and represent Shine at the Chelsea & Westminster Spina Bifida Clinic

• To collect information, statistics and research from a variety of sources to inform Shine’s health projects 

• To create resources to inform and support members’ health 

• To develop training/information resources for professionals 

• To plan and deliver projects, events, presentations and information sessions for members and professionals 

• To provide an information resource for Shine staff 

• To form and engage with networks of health professionals 

• To represent Shine at events and meetings 

• To work closely with the Health Research & Information Coordinator to produce and disseminate health information to Shine members and the general public 

Skills and Experience 

Essential 

• Professional/Registered Health Qualification, for example:

  • Adult Nursing 

  • Registered General Nurse 

• Experience of searching scientific and medical literature, collating information and writing reports 

• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal 

• Ability to work effectively alone and as part of a team

About CoppaFeel!

CoppaFeel! are the UK’s only youth focused breast cancer awareness charity, and we’re on a mission to get every 18-24 year old checking their chest. We educate people on the signs of breast cancer and encourage them to check their chests monthly, so that if they notice something unusual they are empowered to contact their GP and advocate for themselves.

We do this because when diagnosed early, breast cancer treatments are more effective and survival rates are higher. Early detection can save lives.

Breast cancer does not need to be detected late, and as long as we are here and continue to be supported by people like you, we will do all we can to make sure this doesn’t continue to happen.

The Role

Following an exciting period of growth, CoppaFeel! is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Finance Officer to join our expanding team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in charity finance and play a key role in supporting the smooth running of our financial operations.

You’ll be working closely with our Director of Finance and Senior Finance Manager to help manage CoppaFeel!’s day-to-day finances and contribute to a range of essential finance functions. As part of a newly developed finance team, you’ll have the chance to make a real impact as we shape our systems and processes to support our continued growth.

We’re looking for someone with experience working in a finance role, ideally within a small team or charity environment. You’ll need to be confident using accounting software (we use Xero), have strong Excel skills, and be comfortable working independently. Most importantly, you’ll be proactive, detail-oriented, and eager to contribute to the success of our mission.

This role can be full time of part time with a minimum of 26.25 hours per week.

This role sits within the Finance team and reports to the Senior Finance Manager. This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that you will attend the London office 2 days per week. You will be required to attend the office for quarterly team meetings, department meetings and in person training, we will provide plenty of notice for when you are required to be in for these purposes.

Duties & Responsibilities

Month end tasks

• Reconcile all bank accounts, fixed asset register, depreciation, payables and receivables
• Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts
• Support the posting and review of month-end journals
• Assist in the preparation of weekly payment runs and reports
• Support the administration/checking of the pensions and employee benefits
• Maintaining accurate records restricted fund transactions

Quarterly tasks

• Prepare and submit basic VAT returns
• Assist with Gift Aid claims and ensure accurate donor Gift Aid records are maintained

Stakeholder

• Oversee and provide cover for the Finance Assistant, ensuring smooth processing of donations via fundraising platforms
• Collaborate with the CRM Officer and Fundraising Team to ensure accurate donation records
• Provide finance-related support and training to staff, including inductions and updates to finance policies

Procurement

• Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable functions (including systems)
• Support creating, maintaining and checking procurement checklist in accordance to policy
• Supporting in value for money costings and basic ROI’s

Other tasks

• Support with the annual audit and annual report
• Work closely with the Operations Team and others on cross-organisational projects
• Undertake general administrative and ad-hoc finance tasks, including handling finance post, banking, event support, and processing physical Gift Aid/sponsorship forms
• Undertake any other reasonable duties or responsibilities as required by the Charity, in line with the needs of the organisation.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Essential

• Experience working in a small finance team with responsibility for a broad range of finance tasks
• Excellent numeracy skills, with strong verbal and written communication abilities
• Sound understanding of accounting principles, including debits and credits
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, with intermediate to advanced Excel skills (e.g. pivot tables, lookups, formulas)
• A proactive approach to problem-solving, aligned with the team’s strategic objectives
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and strong organisational skills
• A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively as part of a small team and provide support to colleagues

Desirable

• Experience of working within a charity or non for profit organisation
• Familiarity with Charity SORP
• Experience of working with Xero
• Understanding of full cost recovery
