Our CEO, Daisy Srblin, has served since May 2022, and is expecting to take maternity leave from May 2026. We are looking for an excellent Interim CEO, to steward YCF in her 9-12 months away, lead our team and keep our charity on track.

2026/27 is set to be a busy period for Young Camden Foundation, as we navigate a complex ecosystem for the voluntary sector, embed new projects, and drive forward the objectives of our 2025-28 strategy. This is also a pivotal year for fundraising efforts, as is the case for many in our sector, and maintaining strong leadership on behalf of our dynamic and talented team will also be essential.

We are looking for an experienced Interim CEO, who brings particular proven expertise around fundraising, people and budget management, and reporting, as well as confidence in stakeholder relationships and proven leadership experience.

You will be responsible for a team of 7, reporting to a board of twelve, and managing a budget of around £1.3m. You will be responsible for the effective management and delegation of responsibilities throughout the team, via your three direct line reports. You will be responsible for reporting to funders on a regular basis, who fund everything from YCF’s core operations to our grants and onward projects. You will oversee YCF’s complex functions, including grant giving, membership and training, and youth engagement.

You will lead on YCF’s fundraising goals for 26/27 and beyond, helping to put YCF on a firm and confident footing as we look to the future. You will also lead external engagement work at the charity, ensuring YCF is represented and advocating in high-level spaces in Camden, whether with Camden Council, local Councillors, sector and member leaders, and local businesses.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The job of a CEO is hard to define, especially in a small charity, so the list below is by no means exhaustive, or reflective of all the responsibilities you will undertake in post.

However, these summarise the key areas of responsibility and priority as Interim CEO in the 9-12 month period:

1. Fundraising on behalf of our objectives

2026 is a pivotal fundraising year for YCF, as with so many in the sector. You will lead on our fundraising efforts (including identifying and writing bids) for both core and project funding in this important year, to put YCF on the strongest financial footing possible in delivering our objectives to 2028.

2. Team management and leadership

The YCF team is a dynamic mix of individuals, ranging from longer-serving staff to newer staff. You will effectively lead our people (YCF’s key asset) driving performance by identifying development opportunities, and effectively delegating to get the most out of our team. You will also be called upon to make judgement calls on behalf of the team, when these come up.

3. Stewarding our finances

In our small organisation, the CEO is chiefly responsible for the effective stewardship of our finances. Working closely with our Finance Manager, you will set our 27/28 budget and steward and monitor our performance across both financial years (including around fundraising targets). You will oversee an effective audit process in 2026, and ensure records and invoicing are meticulous and kept up to date.

4. Supporting project management and delivery

While staff members hold responsibility for their work streams, YCF is a small team, and you will have overall responsibility and oversight for all delivery, including two sizeable projects in the 26/27 year (the delivery of the UK Government’s Holiday Food and Activities programme, (HAF) on behalf of the Borough of Camden, and YCF’s new cross-borough programme tackling Serious Youth Violence). You will ensure strong delivery across each workstream, identifying opportunities for development throughout, and stepping in where needed.

5. Ensuring effective communication

YCF has a wide range of stakeholders, including members, funders, partners and many others from our cross section of voluntary, public and private sector partnerships. You will be an effective communicator (verbally and in written form) and able to represent YCF in the spaces needed, including with prospective partners, on strategic boards, and with high-level stakeholders. You will lead the team in our written reporting to funders, guiding the team to harness our data to communicate our impact.

6. Oversee governance 

Bringing experience with Board accountability, you will report to the board quarterly, and work closely with the Chair to ensure progress is being driven forward on YCF’s strategic objectives.

Collectively, they have deep local connections, excellent sector knowledge and expertise in various functional areas such as HR, governance, finance and more.]

PERSON SPECIFICATION

We are looking for the following essential experience in our prospective Interim CEO candidate:

- Successful fundraising experience: You will have proven experience in fundraising in a VCS context, including from Trusts & Foundations, corporate sources, and Local Authorities. You will have direct experience in writing applications, making pitches and so on.

- Proven finance experience: As a proven sector leader, you will have experience managing complex and large organisational budgets. You will be able to demonstrate how you have set and managed budgets in the past, including stewarding budgets to effective use.

- Leadership and team management: You will have experience of leading teams, including in contexts without an internal HR function where these are held by the CEO. You will be well versed in all aspects of team leadership, including managing performance, supporting morale and maintaining YCF’s positive team culture. You will have held the position of Director or CEO before, and have experience reporting to a Board of Trustees, and knowledge of governance arrangements that support a healthy charity.

- Exceptional communication: You will demonstrate proven exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal. You will be well versed in compiling strong reporting to funders and stakeholders, as well as producing high quality reports for Trustees. You will also be an exceptional verbal communicator, representing YCF and the needs of our members in advocacy spaces.

- Project start up and management: While YCF has senior leaders to oversee work delivery, you will bring your own experience in project management, to help support existing and new projects at YCF, namely the Tackling Serious Youth Violence Project, which will begin in 2026.

- A positive attitude: Working in a small charity is tremendously rewarding, but it can be tough to lead a small organisation. You will demonstrate proven maturity in navigating those challenges, while bringing an optimism and positive attitude to your work, including all of the (many) responsibilities that fall outside of the ‘usual’ CEO job description, in a small charity.  

We would also ideally be looking for some of the following desirable areas of expertise and experience:

- Working in a youth setting: Our Interim CEO will need to share our passion for a stronger Camden for all children and young people. Ideally you will also bring experience of working in a youth setting or for a youth focused charity in the past, and be familiar with some of the challenges facing children and young people

- Grant making: Our Interim CEO will steward a significant grant-making budget of around £1m per year. Our ideal candidate would bring knowledge of hyper-local grant giving for community led organisations

- Working with and for community groups: Our team works predominantly (though not exclusively) with members who are micro, small and medium sized. Ideally you will be well versed in the unique challenges facing grassroots community VCS organisations. You may bring experience leading a small charity yourself, proving your understanding of the unique leadership challenges in doing so

- Understanding Camden: YCF’s work is unapologetically rooted in our borough, with all its challenges and opportunities. Our ideal candidate brings an understanding of the challenges of living within inner London, particularly for communities facing disadvantage.

BACKGROUND

The latest research suggests that 2.7 million children are at risk of hunger, meaning one in five children don’t have enough to eat. When a child is too hungry to learn, they struggle to concentrate, absorb information, and manage their emotions, causing them to fall behind in their studies.

Magic Breakfast provides a nutritious breakfast to over 300,000 children and young people every school day. We work with schools in areas of high disadvantage, helping staff target the children most in need without barrier or stigma. We are now at an exciting point in our journey as we launch Nourishing Futures, our long-term strategy, which capitalises on market changes and government commitments to scale our work, while redefining breakfast spaces not just as places to eat, but as places to thrive.

To support the delivery of this strategy, we are evolving our Business Development function and creating a new Business Development Manager – Scotland role. This role will unlock opportunities in Scotland across public funding, trusts, foundations, philanthropy and partnerships, ensuring Magic Breakfast grows its income sustainably across devolved nations.

JOB PURPOSE

The Business Development Manager – Scotland will drive income growth and strategic partnerships in Scotland. Reporting to the Head of Business Development, this role will take a lead in developing both public funded income and philanthropic support (trusts, high-net-worth individuals and corporate partnerships).

The postholder will work closely with the Head of Major Giving (Trusts & Philanthropy) and Head of Partnerships in England to ensure joined-up approaches, while developing extensive networks and relationships across Scotland’s funding and commissioning landscape.

This role is both externally focused — cultivating relationships with commissioners, funders, and partners — and internally collaborative, aligning with colleagues across Magic Breakfast to maximise opportunities and deliver against the organisation’s strategic plan.

Key responsibilities:

Leadership and Strategy

• With support from the Head of Business Development, lead the development and delivery of the Scotland Business Development and Fundraising Strategy, ensuring alignment with Magic Breakfast’s UK-wide income priorities, wider organisational strategy, and any Scotland-specific plans across Service Delivery and Policy & Engagement.

• Act as the lead advisor on business development in Scotland, providing insight, guidance and recommendations on market trends, risks and opportunities.

• Build and maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities across public and philanthropic income streams, ensuring accurate forecasting and reporting.

Public Funding

• Identify and secure public funded service contracts in Scotland, particularly with local authorities, education commissioners, and government departments.

• Work with the Policy and Engagement team to develop opportunities with national and regional agencies (e.g. Public Health Scotland, NHS boards, Integrated Joint Boards, Community Planning Partnerships) to embed breakfast provision into wider public health, wellbeing and education strategies.

• Engage with local authority frameworks, grants and tendering processes, positioning Magic Breakfast as a trusted delivery partner for both statutory and discretionary funding streams.

• Build strong partnerships with consortia, third sector networks, and intermediary bodies to access collaborative commissioning opportunities and joint delivery models.

• Monitor and respond proactively to changes in the Scottish Government’s commissioning priorities (e.g. child poverty, attainment challenge, early years and family support, wellbeing economy), aligning proposals with policy drivers.

• Lead the preparation of tenders, bids and commissioned service proposals, ensuring they are compelling, evidence-led and costed appropriately to reflect the value of Magic Breakfast’s offer.

• Ensure clear processes for the qualification, negotiation, contracting and reporting of income agreements, working closely with Finance, Service Delivery and Policy colleagues.

• Collaborate closely with the Business Development Manager responsible for public funded income in England and Wales to ensure a joined-up UK-wide approach to opportunities, share intelligence on successful models, avoid duplication of effort, and apply lessons learned from to maximise income growth.

• Align Scotland’s approach with national frameworks, campaigns, and strategic priorities, ensuring that proposals, tenders, and partnerships complement work happening in other devolved nations.

• Explore blended income opportunities, integrating public funded income with potential corporate partnerships or philanthropic support to maximise funding and sustainability.

Philanthropy and Partnerships

• Develop and manage a pipeline and portfolio of Scottish-based trusts, foundations, family foundations, high-net-worth individuals (HNWI), and philanthropists, including those with devolved nation-specific remits. This will include working closely with the Prospect Research Manager and Major Giving colleagues to identify and qualify new opportunities, and to re-engage lapsed supporters in Scotland,

• Take responsibility for cultivating relationships, preparing compelling cases for support, and personally soliciting major gifts (five- and six-figure level), securing multi-year, transformational commitments.

• Work collaboratively with the Major Givings Leads and the Head of Major Giving to integrate Scottish funders into the UK-wide prospecting and stewardship framework, maximising opportunities for uplift and avoiding siloed engagement.

• Deliver high-quality, values-driven donor journeys for Scottish prospects and supporters, including bespoke engagement opportunities such as school visits, events, and briefings that connect funders directly with impact.

• Build relationships with corporates headquartered or operating in Scotland, coordinating with the Head of Partnerships to ensure Scottish corporate engagement complements and aligns national partnerships, avoid duplication, and develop bespoke proposals and stewardship plans where appropriate.

• Contribute to the design and delivery of fundraising campaigns or initiatives with a Scottish focus, ensuring they complement national activity and align with the organisational fundraising strategy.

• Collaborate with the Prospect Research Manager and Major Giving colleagues to identify and qualify new opportunities, and to re-engage lapsed supporters in Scotland,

• Represent Magic Breakfast externally within Scotland’s philanthropy and fundraising networks (e.g. Scotland Fundraising Conference, Association of Charitable Foundations Scotland, SCVO events), raising profile and building new connections.

Collaboration and Internal Contribution

• Work closely with colleagues across the wider fundraising department to ensure Scottish funders and opportunities are aligned with team specific strategies and the overall fundraising goals and objectives

• Share intelligence and relationships with colleagues in England to strengthen organisational-wide fundraising and business development.

• Collaborate with Policy & Engagement colleagues to ensure business development opportunities are aligned with advocacy and campaigning priorities.

• Contribute to a culture of openness, collaboration and innovation across the Business Development team.

Financial Processes, Reporting and Compliance

• Contribute to business development planning, budgeting and forecasting processes, highlighting risks and opportunities to income.

• Ensure accurate recording of pipelines, income and activity in Salesforce, with robust monitoring and reporting.

• Ensure all donor and organisational reporting requirements are met and high-quality reports are delivered in a timely manner.

• Ensure all activity is compliant with ethical fundraising standards, safeguarding, GDPR and Magic Breakfast’s policies.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION:

Knowledge and Experience

• Strong knowledge of the Scottish funding and commissioning landscape, including key trusts, foundations, government bodies and corporate networks.

• Excellent practical understanding of procurement rules and policies as well as tender and budget cycles.

• Proven track record of developing and delivering income growth from a variety of sources, including public funding, philanthropy and partnerships.

• Demonstrable experience of managing the full fundraising pipeline — from prospect research and qualification, through cultivation and solicitation, to long-term stewardship and renewal.

• Hands-on experience of securing and soliciting significant gifts (five- and six-figure level) from high-net-worth individuals, trusts and foundations, with evidence of personally closing gifts at this scale.

• Demonstrable experience of building and stewarding high-level relationships with commissioners, funders and corporate partners.

• Experience of preparing successful tenders, bids and proposals, ideally within education, social impact or the charity sector.

• Experience of cross-team collaboration within a UK-wide or devolved nations context (desirable).

As Corporate Partnerships Senior Officer, you will bring creativity, resilience, and strong organisational skills to the team. You will have a genuine passion for our cause and take a collaborative and detail-oriented approach to support the growth of our Corporate Partnerships programme. 

You will have a track record of securing new corporate partnerships or sponsorships, generating income and managing a diverse pipeline of opportunities.

You will work to deliver excellent, bespoke stewardship to nurture meaningful relationships with valued partners and open doors to new opportunities, generating vital income that supports the charity’s mission. 

You will work with colleagues across the Philanthropy and Partnerships team, Comms and Supporter Engagement sharing ideas, insights to develop impact-drive propositions and pitches using a story focussed approach to secure new support from corporate partners.

Alongside this, you will keep a thoughtful eye on progress, monitoring and reporting on partnership performance, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring everything we do reflects the highest standards of fundraising practice. 

What You’ll Be Doing 

• Support the delivery of the corporate partnerships programme, working with the corporate partnerships team to help secure high-value, strategic corporate partnerships with companies from a range of sectors.
• Help to generate significant income for the charity, increase awareness of our new brand and identify creative opportunities to engage new audiences in Walk Wheel Cycle Trust.
• Deliver excellent, tailored stewardship to retain and grow our existing partners support, in turn supporting the wider work of the Philanthropy and Partnerships team. 

Key Responsibilities 

1. Identify and secure new high-value partnerships which generate significant income, engage new audiences and increase awareness of Walk Wheel Cycle Trust’s new brand.
2. Deliver excellent partner stewardship and build strong relationships with partners helping to develop a pipeline of high-value, multi-year, strategic partnerships which support the charity’s strategic objectives.   
3. Working collaboratively with key teams across Impact, Comms and Fundraising, develop compelling pitches and propositions which demonstrate the impact of the charity and secure partners’ support.

• Manage a pipeline of new and existing partnership opportunities and track progress using the charity’s CRM to ensure excellent record keeping and administration.

1. Manage relationships with key internal stakeholders from the wider fundraising team, senior leadership, volunteering, communications and business development teams to gain their support and identify new partnership opportunities across the charity.

• Contribute to financial targets and reporting to inform the annual forecasting and budgeting process.

About MediCinema

MediCinema is a UK-registered charity dedicated to providing cinema experiences inside hospitals to support the emotional, physical and mental health of NHS patients, their families, and carers. For 25 years, we have brought the power of cinema to hospitals, and in recognition of our impact, MediCinema was honoured with BAFTA’s Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema Award at the 2025 EE BAFTA Film Awards.

We build and run fully accessible cinemas within hospitals, screening the latest films at no cost to patients or the NHS. Our services help reduce isolation, stress, and anxiety, enhancing emotional and mental wellbeing while fostering resilience. We support patients of all ages, including dedicated paediatric screenings at several sites.

We have an ambitious goal to establish a MediCinema in every NHS region across the UK, and rely on long-term partnerships with NHS Trusts, Hospital Charities and the corporate sector to sustain and expand our services.

The Role

Reporting to the CEO, this new senior leadership role is central to ensuring MediCinema’s financial sustainability, operational excellence, and people-centred culture. The Director will lead the charity’s finance, HR, and business operational functions, ensuring robust systems, compliance, and strategic alignment with our mission.

This is a hands-on role for a values-driven leader who thrives in a collaborative, purpose-led environment and is passionate about improving patient experiences through innovative service delivery.

This role will be managing external HR and IT consultants and supported by a part time (1 day per week) assistant.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Strategy

· Participate in strategic and business planning processes, supporting the CEO and trustees to develop the strategic plan

· Serve as a key member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) contributing to the strategic direction and day to day management of the organisation.

Finance

· Lead the finance function, overseeing budgeting, forecasting, management accounts, and statutory reporting.

· Ensure robust financial controls and compliance with regulatory requirements.

· Manage cashflow, reserves, and risk, supporting strategic financial planning.

· Lead on financial reporting to the Board and relevant committees.

· Oversee payroll, pensions, and financial administration.

Business Operations

HR and People Development

· Lead on strategic workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, and talent retention.

· Provide support and evolve processes to strengthen employee relations, performance management, and wellbeing.

· Support line managers in developing high-performing, motivated teams.

Governance and Compliance

· Maintain up-to-date policies and procedures across finance, HR, and operations.

The Person

Experience and Background

We are seeking a strategic leader with experience across finance, operations, and HR — ideally within the UK charity or public health sector. You may have worked in healthcare, education, or social impact organisations, and bring a strong understanding of compliance, governance, and people leadership. Candidates with a relevant background in SMEs may be considered, but will need to demonstrate a commitment to quickly developing the specialist knowledge required by charity regulations and an aptitude for operating within the third sector.

You will be comfortable working in a hands-on, collaborative environment, with a deep respect for MediCinema’s mission and values.

Skills and Qualifications

· Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or AAT)

· Strong understanding of HR, IT, risk management, and governance in small teams

· Proven experience managing budgets, audits, and accounts (Quickbooks experience ideal)

The Head of Development and Communications plays a pivotal role in driving In2scienceUK’s mission to change lives by opening doors to STEM degrees and careers for young people from lower socio-economic backgrounds. 

As a senior leader, you will shape and deliver a bold, integrated development and communications strategy that brings our mission to life, tells powerful stories of change, and inspires confidence and commitment from donors, partners, and key stakeholders that unlocks new opportunities for innovation and expansion.

In this role, you will manage a small, high-performing team and oversee the creation of compelling narratives and effective engagement strategies that inspire donors, partners, alumni, and key stakeholders, supporting a resilient and diversified income portfolio.

Working closely with programme teams, you will ensure that development and communications activity amplifies the impact of existing programmes, while identifying and developing new opportunities that deliver meaningful outcomes for young people across the UK.

You will drive the development of strategic partnerships and funding relationships to expand the reach and influence of In2science’s work. Responsibilities 

Development

• To collaborate with the senior leadership team and trustees in setting organisational strategy and building strategic partnerships to support In2science’s vision for 2026 and beyond.

• Lead on planning, implementation and delivery of segmented fundraising and stewardship campaigns across programmes and audiences with a 2026 income target of £1.5m. 

• Lead and manage a diverse fundraising portfolio, including corporate partnerships, trusts and foundations, research grants (e.g., UKRI), government funding, and individual giving.

• To lead a small but effective development team, including an external fundraising contractor to build upon our success to date to achieve funding targets and foster strategic relationships with funding and delivery partners.

• Budget and resource all aspects of development and communications, including engaging with external contractors to maximise our output and upskill our teams.

• Work closely with the Head of Operations to oversee our CRM, ensuring accurate pipeline reporting and forecasting, as well as utilising the system for tailored stewardship opportunities.

• Oversee resourcing of the communications function, balancing 70% development and brand engagement with 30% programme-focused activity.

• Identify opportunities to maximise brand presence through strategic partnerships, policy engagement, and media activity.

• Work closely with the SMT and Trustees to respond to media, speaking, and event requests, ensuring consistent and impactful messaging.

• Ensure digital and web platforms effectively showcase our impact and support compelling storytelling.

Governance

• To work with the SMT, CEO, and Trustees to ensure strong charity governance, including leading the Growth Subcommittee and preparing reports for quarterly board meetings.

Person Specification

Essential:

• A passionate advocate for social mobility in STEM.

• Three years experience of leading a development team to generate a seven-figure annual income from a diverse range of donors, ideally in a charitable organisation.

• Knowledge of all streams of fundraising, with direct experience in at least two of the following: corporate fundraising, trust and foundations, research grants e.g. UKRI, government grants or individual giving (incl. high-net worth donors).

We have Drop in Centres and Street Outreach services for children currently living on the streets. We offer short term residential care in our Halfway Homes or Drug Rehabilitation Centre to help children to transition off the streets, and follow up care and support for when a child has been resettled home to their family. We also offer educational support, and/ or business skills start up and training where assessed to be needed to help a child to settle home successfully and to ensure their family can thrive in the long term.

Our Journey

S.A.L.V.E. International was founded in 2008 by Helen Huthwaite and Nicola Sansom. Since then, we have gone on to resettle 978 street connected children with their families. We have also supported 378 young people through education, rehabilitated over 1000 street connected children at our Residential Centre and initiated 495 small businesses to support families. Over the years, our advocacy work has included being part of Small Charity Week in the UK parliament, and being part of a delegation to the UN with the Consortium for Street Children.

Today we employ 4 staff in the UK and 27 in Uganda. Our annual turnover is approximately £300k. New developments in our work include sports programming and a very promising tailoring course. We are well on track to achieve our 2022-27 strategic goals - reaching more children, expanding support for girls, strengthening families and improving our funding sustainability.

Looking forward, the demand for our services continues to grow, whilst charities in general are facing a very difficult financial position. We are looking for a Chief Executive Officer who will consolidate and develop existing initiatives and continue to diversify our provision. They must be able to enhance our efforts to improve our long-term financial sustainability. Working in collaboration with the Board, they will develop our next strategic plan in line with our vision and values.

Job Purpose

● To be a visionary who drives forwards and maximises the impact of the organisation. Working with the Board of Trustees to ensure that a strong vision with clear strategic planning is in place for the organisation to best benefit our service users.

● To work with the Ugandan and UK team to develop and improve our existing programmes of work for the organisation to best benefit our service users.

● To oversee the budget, finance and risk management of the organisation.

● To oversee our fundraising strategy and grow relationships with new and existing funders to a high standard ensuring that maximum potential support is achieved.

● To proactively identify prospects, approaching and winning resources from new partnerships in the wider community to best meet S.A.L.V.E.’s aims and objectives.

● To raise awareness of the work of S.A.L.V.E. International and oversee our advocacy and communications strategy and implementation.

Key Activities

The following activities are intended as a guide to the main responsibilities of the post and are not an exhaustive list of duties and tasks.  The post-holder may be required to undertake other duties that are not listed below, at the direction of the Board.  The job description may be amended from time to time after consultation with the post holder.

STRATEGY

• Lead the organisation by working collaboratively with our global team of staff, volunteers, and board members to ensure a strong strategic plan is in place, which is reviewed and improved over time to maximise the organisation’s impact.

FUNDRAISING

• Leading and championing our fundraising strategy. Helping to develop our one off and regular financial supporters through finding new opportunities and networks, giving talks, ensuring quality timely communications, and reporting to existing supporters.
• Supporting and co-working with our Development Manager to research new application prospects, and helping to maintain and develop the income from our existing network of corporate, organisational and Trust and Foundation partnerships and donors. This includes writing and reviewing funding applications and reports as needed.
• Lead on the drafting of larger or multi-year funding applications, with support from the Development Manager to finalise.

FINANCE

• Overseeing the budget and financial management of the organisation to ensure the organisation’s long term sustainability and sound financial management, including creating the annual budget for approval by the UK Board.
• Collaboratively reviewing the charity’s financial controls and performance, including a final review of the monthly accounts (UK and Uganda), and overseeing the internal audit of our accounts with the finance committee.
• Ensuring the organisation is financially compliant according to the Charities Commission and meets all statutory requirements.

HR

• Recruiting, training, developing and managing staff and volunteers in the UK to help to build the capacity of the organisation as needed. This currently includes line managing: Ugandan Country Director, Development Manager, Communications Manager
• Support the Country Director with recruitment in Uganda.
• Creating a strong sense of team spirit and a culture of appreciation and reliability within the team by reinforcing organisation values and ensuring accountability.

GOVERNANCE

• Working closely with and supporting our UK and Ugandan boards to ensure that the governance of the organisation is strong.
• Lead on creating, reviewing, and developing policies, procedures and systems, including but not limited to ensuring quality safeguarding and risk management for the organisation.
• Ensure the organisation is appropriately prepared for potential risks
• Ensuring the organisation is compliant according to the Charities Commission and meets all statutory requirements.

COMMUNICATION

• Overseeing the communications strategy of the organisation, ensuring the website, social media, newsletters, annual report and mailings out to supporters are kept up to date by supporting our Communications Manager. This includes drafting and checking copy and promoting and marketing events and campaigns for the organisation to raise funds and awareness.
• Being an advocate for the organisation, by seeking and maximising opportunities to represent the organisation, to help raise awareness and support for the work we do and the needs of street connected children generally.

PROGRAMMES and OPERATIONS

• Leading and collaborating with the wider team to develop and improve our programmes through regular evaluation and learning reviews.
• Support the Country Director to ensure the organisation operations function smoothy, and that the strategic plan can be implemented.

PARTNERSHIPS

• Representing S.A.L.V.E. in partnerships and networks such as the Consortium for Street Children to ensure that we are making the most of funding, partnership and advocacy opportunities.
• Manage relationships with key partners in the UK and internationally, to ensure we are collaborating to achieve the greatest impact.

SAFEGUARDING

• To be the Safeguarding Lead within the organisation, and continually strengthen safeguarding as a priority in all our work.

MONITORING AND EVALUATION

• Support the Development Manager with the effective functioning of the organisations M&E system, Upshot. Ensure all team members are meeting their monitoring, evaluation and learning obligations and objectives.

SKILLS REQUIRED

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

Fundraising and External Relations

• Proven and demonstrable track record of securing income from multiple sources, including Trusts and Foundations, corporate partners or institutional donors.
• Direct experience of preparing, writing, and managing significant funding applications, including multi-year or high-value proposals.
• Ability to represent an organisation confidently to donors, partners and external stakeholders, including through public speaking and networking.

Leadership and Management

• Senior leadership or management experience within the charity or social purpose sector, with evidence of leading teams, managing performance and developing organisational capacity.
• Demonstrable ability to build and maintain positive working relationships across teams and stakeholder groups.

Strategic and Operational Capability

• Proven ability to develop, review and implement strategies, organisational systems, policies and procedures that support growth, quality and compliance.
• Strong understanding of budgeting and financial oversight, with experience of interpreting financial information to inform decision-making.

Governance, Compliance and Safeguarding

• Knowledge of charity governance expectations and safeguarding responsibilities, ideally within organisations working with children or vulnerable groups.
• Commitment to good practice, ethical leadership and accountability.

Personal Attributes

• Highly proactive, solution-focused and resilient, with evidence of managing challenges constructively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

DESIRED CRITERIA

Fundraising

• Experience of cultivating and stewarding significant individual donors or corporate sponsors over time.
• Experience of delivering presentations, talks or fundraising-driven events to external audiences.

International and Cross-Cultural Experience

• Experience working in an African context or supporting programmes delivered within Africa.
• Previously lived or worked in Uganda, or having strong personal ties or lived experience relevant to the Ugandan context.

Leadership and Governance

• Experience of working collaboratively with a Board of Trustees or equivalent governance body.
• Experience of leading organisational change or growth phases.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning

• Experience using programme data or M&E systems to inform fundraising proposals, impact reports or strategic decision-making.

Qualifications

• Relevant academic, management or professional qualification (e.g., international development, charity management, safeguarding, finance, leadership).

King George & Queen’s Hospitals Charity is entering a pivotal new chapter as it becomes an independent NHS charity, with a clear three-year strategic plan and ambitious plans to grow its impact and income.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Head of Fundraising (Philanthropy and Partnerships) is a senior, hands-on role responsible for developing high-value fundraising to complement the Charity’s successful community fundraising and events programme. The role will lead the growth of philanthropy, corporate partnerships, and trust income, working closely with Trustees, NHS colleagues, and the fundraising team.

A major appeal is being explored to support the £35m planned development of a new A&E department at Queen’s Hospital. A transformational project with the potential to attract significant philanthropic support.
