Purpose of the Role
Lead the charity’s fundraising and communications strategy to grow sustainable income, build strong relationships, and raise the organisation’s profile. This role will drive innovation, strengthen donor engagement, and ensure our story connects with supporters and funders.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising Strategy & Innovation
Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to meet and exceed income targets.

We're looking for a Supported Housing and Contracts Officer to join our dedicated team in Wembley.
This is a permanent full time (37 hours a week) role where you'll be in the office two days a week and working remotely for the other three.
The starting salary is circa £32,000 - £40,000 per year depending on your experience.
The Role
As a Supported Housing and Contracts Officer you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of our supported housing schemes, both leased and directly managed.
You will be the main contact for our managing agents, ensuring that they meet their contractual obligations. You'll coordinate the completion of escalated maintenance works, planned maintenance programmes and recommend improvements and adaptations to projects.
In your directly managed properties you will be responsible for rent and housing duties and carrying our weekly fire panel inspections.
What we'll need from you:
Our Supported Housing and Contracts Officers need a background in housing, this can be general or supported housing. You will also need to be a great communicator with experience in building relationships with both external and internal customers.
You'll be logging and monitoring enquiries and complaints as well as managing the teams databases, so will need excellent IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and have experience working with different systems.
Along with:
- A good understanding of contract management and compliance
- Experience of working with Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
- An understanding of the provision of support services to vulnerable tenants
- Experience of report writing
- The ability to collate and analyse data
Your own transport would be an advantage but is not essential.

The Financial Accounting & Control Manager will report into the Head of Central Finance and lead a team of four, overseeing primary ledgers, balance sheet reconciliations, statutory accounts production, tax compliance, and treasury management. The postholder will be responsible for ensuring operational effectiveness and technical compliance across financial processes, while providing high-quality financial advice and guidance to colleagues across the organisation.

We offer short term residential care in our Halfway Homes or Drug Rehabilitation Centre to help children to transition off the streets, and follow up care and support for when a child has been resettled home to their family. We also offer educational support, and/ or business skills start up and training where assessed to be needed to help a child to settle home successfully and to ensure their family can thrive in the long term.

Our Journey
S.A.L.V.E. International was founded in 2008 by Helen Huthwaite and Nicola Sansom. Since then, we have gone on to resettle 978 street connected children with their families. We have also supported 378 young people through education, rehabilitated over 1000 street connected children at our Residential Centre and initiated 495 small businesses to support families. Over the years, our advocacy work has included being part of Small Charity Week in the UK parliament, and being part of a delegation to the UN with the Consortium for Street Children.
Today we employ 4 staff in the UK and 27 in Uganda. Our annual turnover is approximately £300k. New developments in our work include sports programming and a very promising tailoring course. We are well on track to achieve our 2022-27 strategic goals - reaching more children, expanding support for girls, strengthening families and improving our funding sustainability.
Looking forward, the demand for our services continues to grow, whilst charities in general are facing a very difficult financial position. We are looking for a Chief Executive Officer who will consolidate and develop existing initiatives and continue to diversify our provision. They must be able to enhance our efforts to improve our long-term financial sustainability. Working in collaboration with the Board, they will develop our next strategic plan in line with our vision and values.
Job Purpose

Key Activities
The following activities are intended as a guide to the main responsibilities of the post and are not an exhaustive list of duties and tasks. STRATEGY
- Lead the organisation by working collaboratively with our global team of staff, volunteers, and board members to ensure a strong strategic plan is in place, which is reviewed and improved over time to maximise the organisation’s impact.
FUNDRAISING
- Leading and championing our fundraising strategy. Helping to develop our one off and regular financial supporters through finding new opportunities and networks, giving talks, ensuring quality timely communications, and reporting to existing supporters.
- Supporting and co-working with our Development Manager to research new application prospects, and helping to maintain and develop the income from our existing network of corporate, organisational and Trust and Foundation partnerships and donors. This includes writing and reviewing funding applications and reports as needed.
- Lead on the drafting of larger or multi-year funding applications, with support from the Development Manager to finalise.
FINANCE
- Overseeing the budget and financial management of the organisation to ensure the organisation’s long term sustainability and sound financial management, including creating the annual budget for approval by the UK Board.
- Collaboratively reviewing the charity’s financial controls and performance, including a final review of the monthly accounts (UK and Uganda), and overseeing the internal audit of our accounts with the finance committee.
- Ensuring the organisation is financially compliant according to the Charities Commission and meets all statutory requirements.
HR
- Recruiting, training, developing and managing staff and volunteers in the UK to help to build the capacity of the organisation as needed. This currently includes line managing: Ugandan Country Director, Development Manager, Communications Manager
- Support the Country Director with recruitment in Uganda.
- Creating a strong sense of team spirit and a culture of appreciation and reliability within the team by reinforcing organisation values and ensuring accountability.
GOVERNANCE
- Working closely with and supporting our UK and Ugandan boards to ensure that the governance of the organisation is strong.
- Lead on creating, reviewing, and developing policies, procedures and systems, including but not limited to ensuring quality safeguarding and risk management for the organisation.

COMMUNICATION

This includes drafting and checking copy and promoting and marketing events and campaigns for the organisation to raise funds and awareness.
- Being an advocate for the organisation, by seeking and maximising opportunities to represent the organisation, to help raise awareness and support for the work we do and the needs of street connected children generally.
PROGRAMMES and OPERATIONS
- Leading and collaborating with the wider team to develop and improve our programmes through regular evaluation and learning reviews.
- Support the Country Director to ensure the organisation operations function smoothy, and that the strategic plan can be implemented.
PARTNERSHIPS
- Representing S.A.L.V.E. in partnerships and networks such as the Consortium for Street Children to ensure that we are making the most of funding, partnership and advocacy opportunities.
- Manage relationships with key partners in the UK and internationally, to ensure we are collaborating to achieve the greatest impact.

- To be the Safeguarding Lead within the organisation, and continually strengthen safeguarding as a priority in all our work.

- Proven and demonstrable track record of securing income from multiple sources, including Trusts and Foundations, corporate partners or institutional donors.
- Direct experience of preparing, writing, and managing significant funding applications, including multi-year or high-value proposals.
- Ability to represent an organisation confidently to donors, partners and external stakeholders, including through public speaking and networking.
Leadership and Management

Your main accountabilities will include:

What is a Fixing Factory?
Fixing Factories do what they say on the tin! We help people fix their broken electricals and learn new fixing skills, shifting us from our current take-make-waste linear system towards a repair economy fit for the future. They generate public interest in repair. Through a series of stepping stone activities, we take people from never having looked inside an electrical item towards, if they wish, fixing for others.
The Fixing Factories is a partnership between The Restart Project and Possible, funded by The National Lottery Community Fund. It launched in April 2022 and we currently have three operational sites across London in Camden, Haringey and Hackney.
Each new Fixing Factory site grows and nurtures a community of repairers, is strongly linked with local residents and stakeholders, and is driven by engaged teams of volunteers. There is a range of offers; from free community repair events to paid workshops and retail - as we develop a replicable model which will support our long term goal of ‘a Fixing Factory on every high street’.

As one of our Fixing Factory workshop managers, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day operations of our two newest Fixing Factory sites, helping members of the public to fix their broken items, and managing a successful team of volunteers and freelancers to support along the way.
You’ll deliver a programme of activities to teach people the basics of repair and change their mindset around electronic waste. The two new sites will be trialling a scaled-back Fixing Factory model compared to our other three sites, so you’ll be a key part of developing and iterating a new way of delivering a Fixing Factory.
The two new sites will be in shared spaces with other community organisations. A key part of this role will be to build and maintain positive relationships with others managing and using the spaces.
You will split your time between the two new Fixing Factory locations, working remotely with a passionate Fixing Factory team, including workshop managers for other sites, and a central development and project management team. You’ll also work closely with Possible, our partner on the Fixing Factories project.

Key responsibilities
Activity and delivery
- Take responsibility for overseeing on-site repairs at the two Fixing Factory locations, ensuring they are completed safely, effectively, and to a consistent standard.
- Deliver a regular programme of activities at the two sites, including community drop-in repair sessions, workshops for the general public, and sessions for volunteers to repair damaged electronic goods.
- Work with the Fixing Factory Lead to make changes in response to feedback and project needs.
- Participate in the necessary training needed for the role.
- Take responsibility for ensuring health and safety, safeguarding, and first aid protocols are implemented and adhered to at the two sites at all times.

Volunteer management
- Help build a volunteer community at both sites that feels empowered to take the lead on the delivery of some of the core Fixing Factory activities.
- Supervise Fixing Factory volunteers and freelancers, including leading volunteer inductions, regular work and wellbeing check-ins, volunteer team meetings, and celebrations with support from the Fixing Factory Lead.
- Create an open, welcoming, inclusive environment for volunteers, whilst encouraging collaboration and skill sharing.
- Ensure there is a sufficient and growing pipeline of volunteers and freelancers, including leading recruitment for specific roles to run core Fixing Factory activities.
Relationship management
- Build and maintain positive relationships with local stakeholders, including the managers and users of both shared sites, members of the public, local repair businesses, local authorities, volunteers, and community fixing initiatives, with support from the Fixing Factory Lead.

Monitoring and evaluation
- Collect and train volunteers to collect monitoring and evaluation data related to the Fixing Factories with support from the Fixing Factory Lead.
Income generation
- Work with the Fixing Factory Lead to track and grow onsite income-generating activities to ensure that the shop meets its objectives for financial sustainability. This includes overseeing:
- Paid workshops and training sessions, including generating bookings from the public
- Potential for small-scale sales of refurbished items
- Encouraging donations during the delivery of core activities
Finance management
- Follow agreed Fixing Factory finance processes, including correct and timely categorisation of regular project income and expenditure (training will be provided) with support from Fixing Factory Lead.
- Manage your Fixing Factory locations' day-to-day site finances: petty cash, buying materials, workshop consumables, and reimbursing volunteers' expenses.
Communications
- Respond to enquiries about your Fixing Factory sites via email with support from the Fixing Factory Lead.
- Update the Fixing Factory website, Eventbrite, and Ticket Tailor booking systems for events with support from the Fixing Factory Lead and Possible comms team (training will be provided if needed).
- Publicise workshop activities and off-site events locally with support from the Fixing Factory Lead.
- Respond to press and comms requests when needed (for example, providing quotes or facilitating visits from journalists). This does not necessitate acting as a ‘live’ press spokesperson unless you are comfortable with this.
- Where requested, facilitate comms team interactions with your Fixing Factory volunteers, including requests for interviews and comms training requirements, with support from the Fixing Factory Lead when needed.

Essential Criteria
- You are able to repair electrical items independently, confidently, safely, and quickly, or you demonstrate an understanding of electrical knowledge with the ability to learn how to repair electrical items quickly - this will include changing plugs and repairing items such as toasters, kettles, and power leads
- You have a strong commitment to safety and wellbeing - we have some golden rules to keep everyone healthy and safe - especially around electricity - you will be the guardian of these and be able to recognise and call out when you spot unsafe working practices
- Passion for teaching others how to repair - you have experience teaching others to repair, or you are keen to learn
- Proven excellent time and task management - you’re highly organised, enjoy implementing processes and systems to maximise efficiency, and are target-driven
- Proven to be focused and meticulous when recording information - you’re a stickler for detail and understand the importance of keeping accurate records up to date on a timely basis for successful project delivery
- Experience working in and with the community, including outside of normal working hours - you find this more rewarding than challenging, making time for whoever walks through the door, as well as being able to work regular weekend and evening hours
- Demonstrable excellent in-person communication skills - and the ability to interact with and manage members of the public, volunteers, and other stakeholders in a variety of practical scenarios

Role outline and purpose
The Senior Policy & Public Affairs Manager will be accountable for overseeing public affairs activities, policy development and supporting influencing activity to advance the goals of the Supportive Communities programme. The role will plan and lead public affairs activities, policy development and support influencing strategy and activities, providing in-depth expertise across the programme with a specific focus on our emerging community design priorities and our work with a range of stakeholders, local/regional decision-makers and national policy-makers in the communities space.

What you will be achieving
The Grants Officer will be a member of the Biomedical Grants and Policy Department. You will work with a Grants Manager to administer a portion of the Academy’s portfolio of grants schemes and activities. Senior Manager: Finance

This respected and forward-thinking charity is seeking a strategic and collaborative Senior Manager: Finance to join its Senior Management Team. This is a key leadership role, offering the opportunity to strengthen financial systems, influence organisational strategy and help shape the charity’s next phase of growth.

Hours: Part-time, 22.5 hours per week (0.6 FTE), worked flexibly
Contract: Permanent
Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 per annum FTE (P/T - £27,000 - £30,000 for 22.5 hours per week)

About the role:
As Senior Manager: Finance, you will be a vital member of the Senior Management Team, responsible for ensuring the charity remains financially sound, compliant and strategically informed. You will play a central role in modernising financial systems, strengthening processes and providing high-quality financial insight to support decision-making at all levels.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact, with scope to shape financial infrastructure, explore digital tools and support long-term sustainability. As the organisation continues to evolve, the role may expand over time by mutual agreement.
In this role, you will:
- Produce accurate and timely financial reporting, including management accounts, forecasts, dashboards and cashflow projections.
- Lead the annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts, supporting the development of longer-term (3-5 year) financial planning.
- Maintain and enhance financial systems, controls and processes, including reviewing or implementing new accountancy software and digital solutions.
- Oversee year-end processes, statutory accounts and audit preparation, working closely with external auditors and the Treasurer.
- Ensure full compliance with charity finance legislation, Charity Commission requirements, SORP, HMRC obligations, VAT, payroll and pensions.
- Provide clear, strategic financial advice to the CEO, Trustees and senior colleagues, highlighting risks, opportunities and financial performance.
- Support bids, tenders and fundraising proposals through detailed financial analysis and costing.
About You
You will be a confident and proactive finance leader with strong charity or not-for-profit experience, able to balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery. You will enjoy working collaboratively and using financial insight to support life-changing services.
You will have:
- Significant experience in a senior finance role, ideally within a charity or not-for-profit environment.
- Strong knowledge of charity finance, SORP, statutory reporting and audit processes.
- Experience of budgeting, forecasting, cashflow management and financial modelling.
- A proven ability to improve financial systems, processes and controls.
- Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to present financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues and trustees.
- A strategic mindset, with the ability to identify risks, opportunities and improvements.
