We have an opportunity to work for our Adult Carers Team as an Adult Carers Support Advisor. You will provide emotional and practical support to Adult Carers in the London Borough of Bromley, aligned and working closely with the integrated care networks.

• To offer emotional and practical support to build resilience for carers on a one-to one basis.
• To provide support face to face, over the phone and in group settings.
• To develop and run local support groups.
• To actively target those carers facing multiple issues, most likely to fall into crisis
• To support carers to access and where appropriate complete Carer’s Assessments
• To build and maintain a network of contacts with local service providers

• To organise and participate in events for carers and or to raise awareness of carers needs, such as but not limited to Carers Week and Carers Rights Day
• To run an active caseload within the KPI requirements of the Bromley Well contract.
• To input cases on to the Charity log system accurately
• To ensure that services are accessible to carers.
• To participate in the provision of news and the production of the Carers newsletter
• To collaborate with other Bromley Well partners, including Mencap/MIND etc. to ensure effective appropriate referral pathways for quality service provision.
• To abide by and take part in the development and review of policy and procedure for the Carers pathway.
• At all times to maintain the professional integrity and reputation of the Charity and represent their main interests in any dealings with other bodies, groups and individuals.
• Attend staff meetings, supervision and organisational events as required.
• Collect case studies to help demonstrate AGE UK Bromley and Greenwich’s Adult Carers Support service’s impact.
• To undertake any other duties commensurate with the purpose and remit of the post.
• Undertake out of hours and weekend work as the role requires for which TOIL will be granted

Working closely with the prison and their staff, people in prison, Shannon Trust volunteers and mentors, this post will lead the delivery and development of our literacy and numeracy programme at HMP Aylesbury, maximising opportunities for people in prison to learn to read.

Ideally you will have some experience of prison settings underpinned by the ability to build relationships and personal qualities that include resilience, determination and a problem-solving approach.

This role will be prison-based. The Role:

This role will cover a wider area of executive support including governance, meeting management, senior leadership team support, managing on-line gatherings, travel management, diary management, correspondence management and relationship management.

The post-holder will be key in supporting the WWP in this, and also, with both WWP and CEO, in mapping out the key events and activities over a 6 year cycle, so that there is a clear structure for the new WWP (and ultimately successor to CEO ) to come into and work with. They will also assist the CEO in “standard agenda planning” for the board, for example, the induction of the new Board in early 2025.

Whilst the role is for 3 days per week, ideally this would be flexible, with the individual working more days at certain times (for example during the Board week) and less at quieter times.

MU is a small team, (about 25) and there is an expectation that all will show flexibility in helping out on areas not explicit in their role descriptions, when time and their expertise and ongoing workload allow

Who we are looking for

The ideal candidate should be proficient in handling the Microsoft suite, zoom, familiarity with handling databases and finance systems. They should be confident in taking minutes in board meetings, experienced in acting as a project manager, able to use a project tool to facilitate planning of schedules for SLT, Board and committees throughout the year, and possess excellent relationship skills, confident to liaise with board members and provincial presidents from around the Globe.

Work Location

This role will be based at our Head Office in central London. Mothers’ Union operates a hybrid working model. Staff are required to work an aggregate minimum of 90 days per calendar year (pro rata for part timers) at our Head Office, Mary Sumner House in central London. Tuesdays are our anchor days where every staff member is expected to be at the office. The 90 days includes anchor Tuesdays.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our new service supporting Unpaid Carers across Lewisham to improve their health and wellbeing, and access support that meets their needs.

The team works with unpaid Adult Carers, Young Adult Carers and Young Carers, completing statutory and holistic assessments to understand people’s individual circumstances and level of need. You will carry out home visits and community meetings, co-produce support plans, and develop effective relationships with Unpaid Carers, families, and professionals.  

You’ll build on your local knowledge to signpost and facilitate access for Unpaid Carers to support services, including financial and benefit advice, housing, health and safety home systems, and leisure and social activities. You will also support the development of escalation plans so that Unpaid Carers are prepared for unforeseen circumstances that would impact negatively on ability to care.

Applicants should have relevant personal or professional experience of working with Unpaid Carers and/or vulnerable adults or children in a social care, health, education or voluntary and community sector. You’ll need a practical understanding of barriers faced by Unpaid Carers, and an awareness of cultural differences and access to services. Experience of working in mental health or dementia services would be an advantage.

You should be an excellent communicator and able to motivate and empower others. This is a full-time role.

About this job

Please note this role is part-time 21 hours/or 3 days a week.

Our Helpline runs from 9am to 7pm Monday to Friday, and we’re looking for an enthusiastic, warm and experienced individual to support our dedicated Helpline Volunteers and Befriending Volunteers within the Helpline team.

This role requires working flexible hours, including 9am–5pm, 10am–6pm or 11am–7pm between Monday to Friday to meet services and volunteer needs (3 days a week).

If you’re passionate about offering high quality information and emotional support and have relevant Helpline experience, we’d love to hear from you.

You will be providing continuous support to all our volunteers at the Helpline team, directly contributing in providing information and support to our Helpline enquirers, with both proactive and reactive content and information on prevalent topics or trends affecting the MS community.
