Position

Hope for Justice is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic professional to join our UK Advocacy Team as an Independent Modern Slavery Advocate (IMSA), who is able to work directly with survivors, offering legal advocacy and specialist support and advice.

As an Independent Modern Slavery Advocate (IMSA), you will provide advocacy and victim services to survivors of modern slavery in the UK - managing a caseload, conducting assessments and developing pathways for survivors.

Key Result Areas:

• Progressing caseload from initial assessment to closure, addressing identified needs
• Building and maintaining partnerships with other organisations (including state and NGO) to create opportunities for survivors of modern slavery
• Supporting the Reforming Society agenda – providing evidence base for reform; providing advice and training, where necessary, to agencies in the community to improve responses to victims of modern slavery thus creating lasting structural change

Requirements

• Strategic and operational knowledge of modern slavery and broader Human Rights legislation
• Understanding of the legal rights and obligations of victims of modern slavery – including an understanding of immigration, housing, community care, welfare benefits, public law, civil law (including access to compensation), debts and victim rights in the criminal justice process
• Advocacy, research and drafting skills
• Experience of leading interviews using a trauma informed approach
• Educated to Degree level
• Previous work with vulnerable adults, ideally with a legal or social work background

Position: Inclusion Coordinator

We are recruiting for an experienced Employment and Transition Mentor to work closely with Autistic/neurodivergent individuals aged 16 to 25 residing in the Bromley borough, to enable skills which will assist them in overcoming barriers to employment and achieving their vocational goals.

This role involves assessment, guidance, and advocacy to ensure that each student reaches their maximum potential. 

In partnership with the London Borough of Bromley, this new unique role has been developed as part of an exciting pilot project funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to support autistic/neurodivergent students to transition from school into further training or permanent paid employment. 

The successful candidate will provide training and workshops to participants and their support networks to enhance understanding and coping skills. In addition, the role will be required to provide training for other stakeholders (employers and other organisations) to raise awareness and ensure they understand the needs of the participants. 

Main Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of participants to help them take the steps they need to gain employment. This can include CV writing, interview practice, work experience, apprenticeships, college and/or other vocational courses, paid employment opportunities.
• Work closely with local employers and engage them in signing up to the Employability programme  
• Act as main liaison between participants and professionals working with the participant to ensure that reasonable adjustments are made to enable success
• Provide information and signposting & collaboration opportunities to participants.
• Work closely with participants to identify and address their employability and reasonable adjustment needs
• Provide emotional and practical support.
• Empower students and families to ensure their views inform decision making and support.

The independent domestic violence advocate will work closely with victims of domestic violence and other forms of violence and abuse, from the point of crisis, to provide high quality independent advocacy and support to survivors of domestic violence at the highest risk and their children. The job involves working within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership protocols and procedures that prioritise the safety of survivors.

The Welfare Adviser will provide high quality specialist welfare benefits and housing advice, information and guidance to our service users, referring them internally and externally for additional advocacy and support as required, following organisational policies and procedures, and ensuring fulfilment of regulatory compliance with our Advice Quality Standard (AQS) accreditation, meeting the standards of quality in the delivery of advice services as required. 2. Manage an adequate caseload of enquiries from LAH service users in a condition of extreme financial need, including those who are homeless  (or on the brink of homelessness).

· Experience of working with people with learning disabilities, or a similar client group

· Experience of training, education, or employment support delivery

·    Experience of job coaching or supporting work placements

·    Understanding of the needs of employers and ability to articulate the benefits of having a diverse workforce to        businesses.

PiP's mission is to empower adults with learning disabilities to achieve their potential. We are a growing, grassroots charity based in West London and run several key services to promote independence and choice for our service users.
