Job description

Are you passionate about mobilising volunteers to end extreme poverty?

Tearfund is a Christian charity working in 50 countries where conflict, climate disaster and injustice push millions of people into extreme poverty. We are called by Jesus to the places where conflict, climate disaster and injustice push millions of people into the unrelenting hardship of extreme poverty. We exist not just to respond to poverty, but to help end it.

We are seeking a Volunteer Relationship Executive to join our Church & Community Building team within the Global Fundraising Group. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in recruiting, training, stewarding, and coordinating event volunteers for supporter-facing events, primarily at festivals and conferences.

If you are passionate about volunteers and equipping them to thrive and have a meaningful impact,  in the pursuit of ending poverty, this role is for you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement strategies to recruit new event volunteers and ensure effective placement at key events.
  • Provide comprehensive pre-event training, induction, and on-site briefing and coordination for volunteers.
  • Maintain regular communication with volunteers, providing ongoing encouragement and advice to enhance their roles.
  • Monitor volunteer fundraising performance and track KPIs related to recruitment and event performance.
  • Represent Tearfund at a minimum of four supporter-facing events each year, including key conferences and festivals.
  • Provide secondary support to other volunteer streams such as Speakers, Church Representatives, and Community Fundraisers as needed.

If this sounds like the perfect role for you, we'd love to hear from you!

We particularly welcome applications from people with disabilities and those from Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds (in our UK workforce) as these groups are currently under-represented at Tearfund.

Hybrid Working: This role is eligible for hybrid working and you will be required to work from the Teddington Tearfund office and from your home by agreement with the line manager.

Contract information: This is permanent contract, working 21 hours per week. The full time salary is £41,186 per annum and the part time salary is £24,711.60 per annum.

All applicants must be committed to Tearfund's Christian beliefs. The recruitment process will include specific checks related to safeguarding. In addition, personal identification information will be submitted against a Watchlist database to check against criminal convictions as a counter-terror measure.
