Job Overview
We’re seeking a compassionate, hardworking Animal Care Assistant to join our hands-on care team. You’ll be responsible for maintaining high standards of care and hygiene while supporting animals on their journey toward recovery and adoption.
Responsibilities
- Feed, groom, and clean animals and their enclosures
- Observe animal behaviour and report concerns to senior staff
- Support enrichment and rehabilitation activities
- Assist with basic medical care and record-keeping
- Ensure the environment is safe, clean, and welcoming
- Work as part of a small, dedicated team
- Interact with visitors and volunteers where required
Requirements
✅ Previous experience working with animals (paid or voluntary)
✅ Passion for animal welfare
✅ Level 3 Diploma in Animal Care or equivalent
✅ Comfortable with physical work (lifting, cleaning, outdoor tasks)
✅ Reliable and able to work independently or in a team
✅ Willing to work weekends and bank holidays
Desirable (but not essential)
- Experience with [e.g., exotic animals, wildlife, farm animals]
- Full UK driving licence
