Job description

The organisation:

We are delighted to be partnered with a growing health charity, to help them find a brilliant Philanthropy Officer for this 12 month maternity contract. The charity is based just South-West of London and has 3 sites that you can work from. They work in a hybrid model, with 3 days a week in one of their offices. This role is focused on developing the major donor, trust and foundation and legacy programs to maximise income and meet annual targets.

 

You will be responsible for:

  • Manage a small portfolio of current and prospective donors, focusing on identification, cultivation, stewardship, and bespoke prospect pools for projects
  • Project manage supporter events, project visits and other major donor cultivation events as directed by the Philanthropy Manager
  • Develop strategic, mutually beneficial partnerships with organiastions across the region and use the Charity’s activities to drive more sponsorship and donations
  • Deliver comprehensive and tailored solicitation and stewardship plans for all prospects, donors, and supporters. Ensure each supporter for whom you have responsibility receives appropriate, consistent, and timely stewardship, and are given the opportunity to support the Charity through as many appropriate means as possible
  • Work with the fundraising team to identify funders and prospects which overlap into other areas of giving to share leads and contacts, identifying links and opportunities to maximise charity income and influence
  • Using the database and our network of staff, trustees, and supporters, identify, research, approach and cultivate new and existing prospects
  • Working with the Philanthropy Manager, to create case for support, stewardship documents and stewardship matrix. These include individual donor care plans, written communications and reports, face to face meetings and innovative and engaging events and visits
  • Identify and manage the coordination of gift acknowledgment, major gift level gift thanking and subsequent recognition opportunities
  • Together with the Philanthropy Manager, support the development of philanthropic relationships with new and existing funders to ensure successful solicitation of major gifts, repeat gifts and increased value gifts
  • Work across fundraising teams to identify relevant prospects, co-ordinate approaches and steward donors appropriately
  • Compiling and drafting major donor research and profiles, writing cases for support and fundraising proposals.
  • Keep up to date with relevant fundraising legislation, trends, methods and developments which affect the Charity

 

Person specification:

  • An understanding of the Philanthropy fundraising market and trends
  • Good knowledge in philanthropy fundraising or a similar role
  • Good knowledge of major donor fundraising across the range of work procedures and practices, underpinned by theoretical knowledge and relevant practical experience
  • Ability to apply a broad range of communication and writing skills to influence, motivate and persuade a wide range of people to donate
  • Excellent networking, interpersonal skills, and confidence in promoting the work of the Charity to funders, both by phone, video call and in person.
  • Creative and lateral thinker with an innovative and strategic approach to attracting new business. Able to make judgements on complex funding opportunities which require careful analysis, interpretation, and comparison of a range of options
  • Experience of securing gifts more than £10,000 and of delivering income growth from developing relationships with major donors or trusts
  • Experience of researching corporates and high net worth individuals and identifying opportunities with an understanding of sector trends
  • Track record of personally securing gifts more than £50k and of delivering income growth from developing relationships with major donors, companies and/or trusts
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills, including the ability to deal with people at all levels, both internally and externally.

 

What's on offer:

This role is offering a salary of £36,000 - £44,500, depending on experience, for this 12 month contract. This will be hybrid, with 3 days needed in one of their sites located just South-West of London. This is a fast moving role and applications will close as soon as a suitable candidate is found.
