Job description
Global Programmes Development Lead
Salary: £49,091 to £59,999
Location: London, hybrid, Tuesday to Thursday in the office, Monday and Friday from home. Overseas travel required
Contract: Permanent

This is an opportunity to lead institutional funding for an international humanitarian and development charity and play a central role in developing the partnerships and funding needed to deliver programmes in the UK and internationally.

The Global Programmes Development Lead will take responsibility for growing and strengthening the organisation's institutional funding portfolio. Working across country offices, affiliate offices and programme teams, you will develop donor relationships, build a strong funding pipeline and lead the development of high-quality bids and proposals.

Crucially, this is not simply a bid-writing role. You will help shape institutional funding strategy, understand international donor markets, identify where investment can unlock growth and make sure donor relationships are managed well after funding has been secured. The role also manages two members of staff.

You will:
  • develop and implement an institutional funding strategy
  • identify and develop relationships with institutional and international donors
  • maintain a strong funding pipeline and identify emerging opportunities
  • lead complex proposal and bid development
  • develop donor mapping and use market intelligence to anticipate funding opportunities
  • oversee institutional donor portfolios and donor stewardship
  • work closely with country and programme teams on funding strategies and proposals
  • provide accurate income forecasts and financial analysis
  • strengthen grant management and institutional funding capability across the organisation
  • line manage and develop two team members
About you
You will bring significant experience securing funding from institutional and international donors, alongside strong bid writing, research, negotiation and proposal development skills.
You will understand programme design, implementation and evaluation, and have experience of grant management, budgets and financial forecasting.

You will also be confident building relationships and influencing across a complex international organisation. Experience of fundraising in international markets is important, with experience of Middle Eastern donors particularly valuable.

International field experience and an understanding of relevant humanitarian and international development standards will also be important, as will the ability and willingness to travel internationally.

This role will suit someone who understands that successful institutional fundraising involves considerably more than responding to opportunities. It requires strong donor intelligence, credible partnerships, excellent programme development and the discipline to build a sustainable pipeline for the long term.

We want you to have every opportunity to demonstrate your skills, ability and potential; please contact us if you require any assistance or adjustment so that we can help with making the application process work for you.
