Job description

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (CLERK TO THE DIRECTORS)

We are working in partnership with the Walthamstow and Chingford Almshouse Charity, an organisation which is proud to have served the local community for nearly 500 years, providing high-quality housing & support for older people and the relief of financial need locally via its grant making programme.

The charity is now seeking an exceptional Chief Executive Officer (Clerk to the Directors) to work closely with the Board of Directors to deliver strategic objectives, ensure effective governance and financial stewardship, oversee property and development activities, and provide leadership to the staff team. You will also play a key role in maintaining the Charity's strong reputation and building productive relationships with residents, stakeholders and external partners

You will be an experienced and collaborative leader who can combine strategic thinking with strong operational delivery with the following:

  • Experience of leading teams, managing stakeholders and delivering organisational objectives
  • Understanding of housing management, property maintenance, health and safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Knowledge of governance, charity regulation and working effectively with boards or similar
  • Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, reporting and performance monitoring.
  • Experience of preparing high-quality reports and presenting information to boards and senior stakeholders.
  • Experience of safeguarding, risk management and working within inclusive, resident-focused environments.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and engage a wide range of audiences.

The successful candidate will be an approachable and visible leader, comfortable balancing strategic responsibilities with operational oversight. You will be a strong communicator, an effective problem solver and someone who thrives on building relationships and delivering positive outcomes for residents, staff and stakeholders alike.

If you feel you have the values and skills to succeed in this role, we very much look forward to hearing from you.

Applications should be submitted via the Charisma Charity Recruitment website and include your CV and supporting statement. For more information, please contact Sandra Smith, Senior Consultant, Charisma Charity Recruitment.
