About Us
The Wildlife Trusts are a grassroots movement of people from a wide range of backgrounds and all walks of life, who believe that we need nature and nature needs us. We have more than 945,000 members, over 33,000 volunteers, 4,100 staff and 600 trustees. There are 46 individual Wildlife Trusts, each of which is a place-based independent charity with its own legal identity, formed by groups of people getting together and working with others to make a positive difference to wildlife and future generations, starting where they live and Work.
Every Wildlife Trust is part of The Wildlife Trusts federation and a corporate member of the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts, a registered charity in its own right founded in 1912 and one of the founding members of IUCN – the International Union for the Conservation of Nature. Taken together this federation of 47 charities is known as The Wildlife Trusts.
The next few years will be critical in determining what kind of world we all live in. We need to urgently reverse the loss of wildlife and put nature into recovery at scale if we are to prevent climate and ecological disaster. We recognise that this will require big, bold changes in the way The Wildlife Trusts work, not least in how we mobilise others and support them to organise within their own communities.
About You
Are you a creative storyteller who loves bringing ideas to life through brilliant copy, photography, video and social-first content? We are seeking an experienced content specialist to lead the production of high-impact communications that help more people connect with The Wildlife Trusts’ cause and put nature into Recovery.
Our Head of Communications plays a leading role in enabling The Wildlife Trusts to deliver inspiring, impactful and brand-aligned engagement with our target audiences.
You will bring your experience of translating strategy and audience insights into content that gets people talking, to help strengthen our brand and inspire more people to take meaningful action for nature.
You will be responsible for leading and developing teams tasked with content creation (including publications, events, graphic design and film), social media management and ambassador and influencer relations.
An excellent writer, with a flair for design and the ability to commission compelling photography and video content, you will be brimming with fresh ideas, alongside having a strong track record in delivering to agreed strategic priorities and timeframes.
You will be well-versed in managing creative teams, both in-house and agency, and overseeing the production of high-quality content that reinforces the brand and meets audience needs

We particularly encourage applications from people who are underrepresented within our sector, including people from minority backgrounds and people with disabilities. We are committed to creating a movement that recognises and truly values individual differences and identities.

Full Time – 35 hours per week

Fixed Term Contract until March 2031
Location: Beechcroft House, Vicarage Lane, Curdridge, Hampshire, SO32 2DP
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust is shaping a wilder future for our counties – protecting special places, restoring habitats and inspiring people to act for nature. As part of the UK’s fastest-growing movement for nature’s recovery, we lead with passion, integrity and bold thinking. Join a team where your work has purpose, your ideas matter, and you can help create lasting change for wildlife and people.
We are seeking a Test & Itchen Projects Officer to join our cause.
The Project Officer will focus on delivery of the Test & Itchen Recovery Plan; a new strategic pilot hosted by the Test & Itchen Catchment Partnership. Working closely with co-hosts Wessex Rivers Trust, this role will coordinate a variety of projects and support reporting to a new TICP Strategic Leadership Group, including tracking of delivery against the new TICP’s Catchment Plan. The role has two key functions:
- Collation and coordination of projects between Southern Water and the Catchment Hosts/Catchment Partnership and the creation of a shared priority project pipeline plan.

You’ll coordinate project planning and support delivery between Southern Water and the Test & Itchen Catchment Partnership (TICP), to ensure Southern Water projects are co-developed with wider stakeholders (where applicable). The process will ensure better integration between Southern Water projects and wider TICP based projects, including a shared project pipeline. You’ll go on to manage collaborative Southern Water projects as appropriate.
About you:

Confident managing projects and partnerships, you balance technical insight with strong communication and coordination skills. You build productive relationships across diverse stakeholders, from water companies and NGOs to local communities, and are motivated by delivering real outcomes for nature.
- Passionate about wildlife and driven by the Wilder 2030 vision, you’re ready to help restore the Test and Itchen and support a wilder, more resilient Hampshire.

Role & Responsibilities
We’re entering an exciting new phase. With a bold new strategy, ambitious Nature Recovery programmes (including species reintroductions, landscape-scale rewilding and river restoration), and a rapidly rising public profile — including recent collaboration with Sir David Attenborough on the BBC’s Wild London — this is a pivotal moment for our organisation.
To support this growth, we’re looking for an exceptional Head of Finance to reinvigorate, strengthen and modernise our finance function — ensuring it’s fit for the organisation we’re becoming.
Reporting to the COO and working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, Finance Committee and Board, you’ll lead all aspects of financial management across London Wildlife Trust and our trading subsidiary. You’ll play a critical role in shaping how Finance operates — improving systems, controls, reporting and insight so the organisation can confidently adapt to recent and future growth.
Transaction volumes have increased significantly in recent years, and a key early focus of this role will be leading a programme of operational improvement. You’ll roll up your sleeves, lead the finance team through change, and embed better ways of working that strengthen our foundations while enabling smarter decision-making across the organisation.
- Lead all aspects of financial management for London Wildlife Trust and its trading subsidiary
- Lead a programme of finance transformation, improving systems, processes, controls and ways of working to ensure Finance is fit for a growing organisation.
- Own budgeting, forecasting and multi-year financial planning, producing clear, insightful management accounts and analysis to support decision-making.
- Provide high-quality financial reporting and advice to the SLT, Finance Committee and Board, highlighting risks, opportunities and strategic choices.
- Act as a finance business partner to senior leaders and teams across the Trust, improving financial understanding, ownership and accountability.
- Work closely with fundraising, trading and project teams to support income generation, funding compliance and effective financial oversight.
- Lead, coach and develop the finance team, building a confident, collaborative and improvement-focused finance function.
Our ideal Head of Finance
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)
- Significant experience at Head of, or equivalent, level in the charity sector (likely 3-5 years)
- Strong working knowledge of Charity SORP and charity financial governance
- Experience with delivering and overseeing exceptional financial operations
- Strong financial planning, reporting and insight experience
Closing Date: Monday 26th January at 9am
Interviews: Are scheduled to take place on 4th and 6th February and reasonable adjustments will be offered to all candidates.
Does this sound like you? We’d love to hear from you!
