The next few years will be critical in determining what kind of world we all live in. We need to urgently reverse the loss of wildlife and put nature into recovery at scale if we are to prevent climate and ecological disaster. About You 

Are you a strategic communicator with a passion for policy, public affairs and making a real difference? Do you dream of using your skills to make a real difference in conservation and farming? We have an opportunity at the heart of The Wildlife Trusts for someone keen to ensure that natures’ recovery is at the heart of UK farming, food and land use policy? If you have experience in UK farm and land policy, with excellent advocacy and communication skills, and would like to work for one of the UK’s bestloved nature charities, then we have an exciting opportunity for you 

Working within our small but highly impactful team, the Land Use Policy Manager will work to influence the development of land use and farm policy, to improve the quality of decisions taken at a project and strategic level to deliver The Wildlife Trusts’ ambitions for natures recovery and nature friendly, climate resilient farming and food systems. 

You will develop and manage strategic relationships to position The Wildlife Trusts as key instigators of change, building climate and nature’s recovery into rapidly changing farm, land and policy. You will also be supporting the Federation of Wildlife Trusts’ work on farming and food. 

We are looking for an organised and resourceful individual who has proven experience of working with various sectors to influence farm policy and strategy. You will have a commitment to wildlife conservation, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and be confidence in communicating to diverse audiences.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced educator and manager to expand and progress our school strategy work even further, supported by a brilliant team of school officers, tutors and volunteers. We are looking for someone who is a persuasive communicator, passionate about the benefits of nature for pupils and staff as well as being highly organised. You are comfortable building relationships across schools including with senior leaders as well as being able getting stuck into the day-to-day delivery to children and young people where needed. This role will enable you to make a real difference to nature’s recovery and to be part of our vision to get 1 in 4 schools taking action for wildlife by 2030.

We have been running a school service for over 30 years engaging young people with the outdoors. We meet with between 2,000 – 3,000 young people, predominantly from primary schools, every year at Lower Smite through our popular outdoor school trips covering key elements of the science curriculum. Everything we do is fun, interactive and hands-on. We embed nature connection pathways into our programmes with a focus on creative and artistic practice. This includes our creative science sessions where we explore classification and evolution through collage and printing.

The role will be focusing on progressing our work around the natural learning journey, develop a model to move schools through the journey and track their progress. At the heart of this is overseeing and helping to deliver core elements of our school offer and working with the Wilder Schools Team and our school partners to develop new programmes and workshops.

Wildlife and Countryside Link is a coalition of 90 environmental charities. We are looking for a Policy Officer to help develop, advocate and win policy improvements for nature.

The Government has promised to halt the decline of nature by 2030 and to net zero by 2050, committing to decarbonising our energy systems as a core government mission. Such commitments have been made within the backdrop of a challenging economic environment. The next few years will be critical in securing nature based solutions as part of the drive to reach net zero and in developing our understanding of and engagement with private investment for nature’s recovery as these fledging funding streams evolve.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Policy Officer to convene environmental policy experts to agree bold shared policy positions. This role will focus on economic systems change, including innovative work on ways to drive private investment in nature; and on the role that nature must play in helping us to adapt to and mitigate the effects of climate change. There will be lots of thinking, lots of writing, and lots of opportunities to shape shared campaigns with excellent opportunities to engage with and work alongside some of the leading experts in these policy areas. You will also play a key role in delivering those messages to key influencers in Government and in Parliament.

So, we are looking for someone with a keen eye for detail, a good networker with the ability to listen and negotiate, and a reasoned and convincing style of written and verbal communication, with a passion for nature conservation.

Your key responsibilities will include: 

• Community & Stakeholder Engagement – Building and nurturing relationships with local communities and key stakeholders to support coexistence with wildlife.
• Community Organising – Leading and implementing an evidence-based approach that empowers communities to take meaningful action for nature.
• Social Science & Impact Measurement – Overseeing the monitoring and evaluation of our engagement efforts, working closely with the Monitoring & Evidence team.
• Leadership & Collaboration – Managing and supporting a team of passionate community organisers while working in partnership with a wide range of organisations and experts.
• Strategic Development – Championing community organising within Kent Wildlife Trust, influencing best practices and securing sustainable funding for engagement initiatives.

 
Our work includes exciting species reintroduction and wilding projects such as Pine Martens, European Bison, Red-billed Chough, and Beavers, as well as large-scale landscape restoration projects. Your responsibilities will include delivering Yorkshire Wildlife Trust’s legacy marketing strategy and in-memory giving programme.
