Finance and operations manager – Job Description 

We are seeking a thoughtful, compassionate, and experienced finance and operations manager.  This is a new role in an expanding team that will contribute to the senior leadership of the organisation and be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of the charity, with a focus on financial management.  
Our new Finance and Operations Manager will work closely with the CEO to set and manage the organisation’s strategic plan, drive strategic initiatives, manage resources, and foster a positive and reflective workplace culture. 

Key Responsibilities 

1. Leadership and Team Management  

• Embody the values of The Magpie Project and support the CEO to maintain the core vision and principles of the organisation in all its activities. 

• Support the CEO in overseeing the day-to-day activities of the charity, including deputising for her when appropriate. 

• Cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders (donors, community partners, other non-profit organisations), and identify opportunities for collaboration and partnership to enhance the organisation’s impact and reach. 

• Represent The Magpie Project externally where appropriate. 

• Foster a positive and reflective workplace culture that values diversity, inclusion, and continuous improvement. 

• Implement best practices and internal systems to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. 

• Line-manage three staff members – Kitchen Manager, Donations Manager, and Fundraising Manager – in accordance with existing support and supervision structure. 

1. Financial Management 

• Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including all incoming and outgoing payments and invoices, and maintain accurate records in line with financial best practise. 

• Develop and manage the annual budget and produce management accounts to provide regular reports to the CEO and board of trustees throughout the year. 

• Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for donors. 

• Coordinate annual financial audits and ensure timely submission of annual accounts to the Charity Commission. 

• Maintain financial policies and procedures to ensure internal controls are compliant with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and reporting requirements. 

• Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure sufficient funds are available for day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives, identifying and mitigating potential risks. 

• Liaise with off-site payroll provider and make monthly payroll payments. 

• Oversee management of petty cash, including ensuring there is sufficient petty cash to cover travel money and emergency grants expenses at sessions.

• Develop and oversee processes for the distribution of emergency hardship grants, in line with donor expectations and best practice in record keeping. 

1. Operational Management 

• Support the CEO in the strategic direction and operational management of the charity, including planning, service design, programme management, HR, and workforce development. 

• Develop and maintain relevant internal policies. 

• Lead on risk management within the organisation, identifying potential risks and developing strategies to mitigate them.

• Maintain relationships with external suppliers including DBS service providers, insurers, telephone and internet, banking, and software technicians. 

Person Specification 

• Experience in a senior finance role in a charity, including budgeting, forecasting, and day-to-day financial management. 

• Specific knowledge of charity regulation and financial compliance with the charity commission and other regulators. 

• High level of interpersonal and emotional intelligence to enable a trauma informed, reflective and calm working environment. 

• Experience overseeing or supporting internal operations, including line-management, preferably within a charity. 

• Experience of strategic planning, with the ability to think critically and creatively. 

• Willingness to engage in co-production and co-design to include those with lived experience in all levels of planning, service design and governance, a bonus. 

• Ability to build positive relationships with external stakeholders at every level.

We are seeking an experienced Fundraising Manager to join our team. The Fundraising Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive fundraising strategies to secure financial support, with a focus on trusts and foundations and a willingness to explore other sources such as individuals, corporations, community and other donors. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a highly effective frontline charity supporting migrant women and pre-school children living in temporary or insecure accommodation across London.

Fundraising Manager – Job Description

Contract: 3 days a week

Location: Hybrid/home-based with at least half a day a week on site in Newham.

Reports to: Finance and Operations Mananger

Salary: £30-32k pro rata’d to 3 days a week.

Key Responsibilities

· Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising plans to achieve annual income targets in alignment with organisational goals.

· Work with the COO to develop long-term income forecasts to support organisational
plans.

· Identify new fundraising opportunities across all donor groups and develop innovative approaches to diversify income streams.

· Research, write, and submit compelling grant proposals to trusts, foundations, and other grant-making entities.

· Ensure timely and accurate reporting to grantors to fulfil grant requirements and maintain compliance.

· Support the organisation in the use accurate and relevant monitoring and evaluation data and individual stories, for the purposes of reporting and building a compelling case for support.

· Build and maintain strong relationships with existing donors at all levels (trusts and foundations, corporate partners, community organisations, etc), ensuring a positive donor experience and long-term support.

· Identify and secure new relationships with partners including corporate entities and community groups, to support our mission and objectives.

· Collaborate with colleagues to identify funding needs and develop compelling grant proposals and reports.

· Ensure transparency and accountability in financial management and ensure that spending is in line with grant conditions.

Person Specification

· Experience of trust and foundations fundraising in a charity is essential. Additional experience of other forms of fundraising is a bonus.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling fundraising proposals and reports.

· Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with stakeholders including donors, volunteers, and partners.

· Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies and plans.

· Experience using Salesforce is a bonus.

Coram IAC, is a Voluntary Adoption Agency, which specialises in Intercountry Adoptions. They will play a key role in helping to develop new services and where appropriate will take operational control of these.

About the Role

The Head of Service post holder will take the lead responsibility (under Ofsted registration) as the Adoption Manager of Coram IAC. They will ensure the ongoing delivery of an outstanding VAA that is fully compliant with national minimum standards and regulations; and ensuring high quality adoption support and a sufficient supply of adopters that reflects the diversity of the countries they are adopting from.

Applying to adopt in the UK is open to anyone already in the process with Coram IAC but we do not actively recruit domestic adopters like other VAAs. YMCA West Sussex Transitional Housing provides safe, secure accommodation for young people aged 18-25, who have been, or are at risk of homelessness. Our staff team comprises of Supported Housing Support Workers, Housing Mobile Night Workers and two Supported Housing Managers. We offer a support package alongside the accommodation to actively encourage residents into education, training, employment or voluntary work.

In delivering the role, you will work with the Deputy Supported Housing Manager and the wider housing team to provide effective day to day management of our transitional accommodation service. You will have your own caseload of residents, working creatively and effectively alongside young people to develop their assets and talents and to acquire the skills they need to live independent and fulfilling lives. You will contribute to the smooth and safe running of the service by providing consistency and reliability. You will have a calm, yet assertive manner, being able to handle potentially difficult situations. You will also support young people to safeguard themselves against abuse and risk. There will be times when lone working will be a requirement for this role.

This role is based on site in Horsham and will cover Transitional services across Horsham, Crawley, Burgess Hill and Worthing. Your working hours will be Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.

Harm towards children and young people is a global issue, and can include physical and emotional abuse, neglect and exploitation, sexual abuse and other forms of gender-based violence. This is an exciting opportunity to support a global network of up to 40 partners in strengthening and developing their safeguarding practices and embed our global framework, supporting KTI and our partner organisations to meet institutional contractual requirements.

In this key role, you will lead and implement the safeguarding strategy, working closely with the Director of Delivery and Impact and with the Senior Leadership Team providing advice and updates regarding safeguarding and risk management to our Board, various committees, and teams. You will work closely across functions but particularly within the programmes team, supporting the safer programming of our young people across 20 countries via a network of in-country delivery partners. You will have extensive experience of supporting organisations to deliver safe and impactful programmes, having developed the systems process and frameworks to support this. Our mission is to help children and young people have a fair chance to be who they want to be. We do this by providing a safe home, increasing life skills and self-confidence, and improving emotional wellbeing and mental health.

You will be working as part of the West Sussex night team providing mobile support to our 24-hour services, ensuring that our transitional properties are safe, secure, and welcoming through the night. You will be based at the Horsham Y Centre and will support the static night worker there during the night as well as undertaking your mobile duties. You will regularly complete building checks and monitor CCTV upkeeping health and safety regulations in accordance with YMCA DLG's policies and procedures. You will work to prevent any anti-social behaviour from impacting our neighbours and other residents. You will help to contribute to a great working environment, with a calm, yet assertive manner, being able to handle potentially difficult situations.

In addition, you will work alongside other support staff to maximise the wellbeing of residents by completing one to one interventions with young people who may be experiencing mental health crisis and/or who may need medical assistance.

This is a mobile role, requiring all applicants to have a full valid, UK Driving Licence. You will also be lone working as part of the role, so you will need to be comfortable with decision making and following procedures.

You will work on four nights on, four nights off rota. Although these are long shifts, you will get four days off after, which can provide a great work life balance.

Main Purpose of the Role 

The main objectives of the Corporate Fundraising Manager role is to lead the Corporate Partnerships programme; sourcing, developing and sustaining funding partnerships with a wide range of companies. This is a senior and hands-on role.  You will take responsibility for developing and sustaining your own portfolio of corporate partners working with them to secure significant funds.

Main Areas of Responsibility 

• Implement a corporate strategy which increases income and the number of corporate partners to exceed targets and build the pipeline for future years.

• Provide line management support to the corporate fundraiser(s), including setting objectives, key performance indicators and carrying out appraisals. 

• Secure new business support from companies, taking a strategic and proactive approach to new business development.

• Develop creative and compelling new business pitches, presentations and proposals for a range of corporates including COTY applications, CRM, beneficiary events and cross organisational offers, working closely with the Director of Fundraising & Marketing.

Essential:

· Numerate and literate.

The post holder will be fully involved in all aspects of the day to day management of their designated services, including line managing the relevant front line staff. You will lead and develop competence of direct reports as well as carry caseloads of customers requiring support. What you'll do:

Lead and motivate your team to ensure the championing of and maintenance of a positive local culture within your service

The post holder will have experience of providing support to individuals from a range of backgrounds and will have the ability to build and maintain relationships with employers, and other external stakeholders and agencies.

Magic Breakfast is a registered charity providing healthy breakfasts to children and young people in the UK who arrive at school too hungry to learn, and expert support to their schools. JOB PURPOSE

As part of the Brand and Marketing team, the Social Media Officer will lead on social media strategy for the organization, working closely with teams across Magic Breakfast to develop and diversify our presence on social media. Through innovative, compelling content creation the Social Media Officer will raise awareness of our work and the Magic Breakfast brand. The role's aims are to reach and engage new audiences and to strengthen brand advocacy with exisiting target audiences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Develop Magic Breakfast social media channels to grow an engaging environment for people with lived experience of childhood morning hunger and our wider supporter network.
• Develop and deliver effective strategies that optimise and grow our social media channels.
• Liase with both Magic Breakfast and corporate partners' design, PR and social media agencies to deliver effective and timely campaigns
• Monitor, improve (through testing and optimisation) and report on the performance and effectiveness of social media content and campaigns
• Write impactful and engaging social posts, sourcing approprtiate imagery and developing video content in collaboration with the Multimedia Producer.

The Programme Manager will be responsible for the ‘Training Ground’ programme, overseeing all aspects of the project, and ensuring milestones and output targets are met.

You will manage the participant pipeline and oversee all stages of the participant journey, ensuring impactful mentoring is delivered and that robust tracking is in place. You will provide guidance and leadership to a team of mentors and ensure best practice.

The successful candidate will have a sophisticated understanding of the challenges and barriers facing young Londoners, who are identified as the furthest from employment, and have an awareness of how to support them to progress into employment.

You will oversee the delivery of an employability programme and coordinate all aspects of the programme.

The programme manager will provide 1:1 mentoring to a caseload of participants, giving support to participants to develop essential skills for employment, whilst providing practical support, interview coaching, career information, and guidance.
