Our service works in partnership with the Ministry of Justice and St Mungo’s to deliver a pan-London Housing Advice and Interventions Service, launched in June 2021. At the heart of this work is a commitment to empowering people on probation to move forward with stable, secure housing, often a critical turning point in their journey. As a member of our team, you will be co-located within probation offices and will work closely with Probation Services, ensuring clients receive the guidance and practical help they need to either maintain their current accommodation or access new housing options.
In this role, you will support a caseload of clients across designated boroughs, undertaking in-depth assessments to identify their housing, employment and financial needs. Through tailored advice and focused support, you will help them access appropriate services, build their independence and make meaningful progress towards a more secure future. The work you do will directly shape the course of people’s lives, helping them overcome barriers and take confident steps toward long-term stability. About you:
- Some understanding of working in supported housing or floating support services, with a demonstrable knowledge of Housing and other related Legislation or a relevant qualification.
- Experience of managing complex and difficult situations in relation to vulnerable client group(s).
- Ability to effectively liaise with a range of service providers or agencies in order to establish or improve services for clients.
- An understanding of the principles underlying a quality service, and customer focused, with proven ability to empower service users.
- Ability to be self-motivating, work under pressure, and manage time effectively, prioritising different areas of work according to need.

About the role
You will help clients to maintain independence and to thrive, by offering practical assistance, support both in the home and in the community. Providing advice, advocacy, coaching and encouragement to enable households to resettle and to prevent homelessness. All our Support Workers hold a ‘caseload’ of households and are responsible for developing outcome focused support plans, managing any risks and continually assessing need. Shelter staff are highly knowledgeable and capable and we provide our staff with a range of training opportunities, in subjects such as: housing and homeless legislation; benefits and welfare; safeguarding and risk management.

About you
You will need a relevant background that includes experience of housing, homelessness and welfare benefits law and supporting people who are vulnerable and/or have multiple and complex needs. Through this you will have a good working knowledge of safeguarding frameworks. Proficiency using a range of IT tools to carry out your work, including Microsoft Office applications is important too. If you have experience of using case managements systems this is an advantage, but not essential. The role will need you to visit clients in their homes so you will need a valid driving licence and be willing to use your vehicle for work purposes - for which an essential car user allowance will be paid.

We specialise in emergency homelessness work, intensive support to children and families and people experiencing domestic abuse, and/or multiple disadvantage and have been providing housing advice and support to the people of Sheffield for over 20 years. We take a holistic approach to help people to deal with interrelated issues that can impact their ability to get and keep a home, so they can thrive within the community. These include high intensity support, legal representation, practical DIY assistance and specialist housing, employment training and welfare benefits advice. The clients we help have a range of issues include physical and mental health conditions, drug and alcohol use, income and money management and domestic abuse.

akt is the UK’s national LGBTQ Youth Homelessness charity. We provide safe homes, mentoring, and support to ensure that no young person needs to choose between a safe home and being who they are. 24% of young people facing homelessness in the UK identify as LGBT (National Scoping of LGBT Youth Homelessness, akt, 2015) and 78% of LGBTQ+ young people cited an absence of family support (The LGBTQ+ Youth Homelessness Report, akt, 2021). The charity was founded in 1989 and operates service centres in London, Manchester, Newcastle, Bristol and works online through a Digital Service to offer support to young people outside of our four office regions. akt works with over 800 vulnerable young people a year providing both face to face and online assistance.
Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for a Housing Support Worker to join our new Supported Housing Scheme in Lambeth, an LGBTQ+ supported housing service with six units for young people aged 18-21 years. The service is due to open in late May 2025 and is part of a three-year funded joint project with Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing Association and Lambeth Council. The role is part of the Services team and is supervised by the Supported Housing Manager. Other members of the team include another part time Housing Support Worker and a part-time Youth Engagement Coordinator.
Please note this is a part time vacancy working 17.5 hours per week. The pro rata salary for hours worked is £15,257.50 (£30,515 full time equivalent). Hours will be worked on a Week A / Week B rota basis, Monday to Sunday between 10am and 8pm.
Job Summary
In this role you will be responsible for supporting residents to reach their goals and aspirations and move on to independent living. This will involve:
- Supporting young people – building positive and affirming relationships, co-producing holistic strengths-based support plans, coaching and supporting young people with independent living skills and providing them with advice, guidance and support.
- Safeguarding and risk management – working in partnership with Social Services to support young people to keep themselves safe, attending strategy meetings and implementing associated action plans, creating and upkeeping evidence-based risk management plans.
- Service delivery and development – record keeping contributing to KPI tracking, contributing to the development of best practice around supporting LGBTQ+ young people across Lambeth, ensuring young people’s experiences and voices are centred with an emphasis on co-production.
- Partnership working – championing and prioritising residents’ intersectional needs, partnership work with young people and key partner agencies to support young people to achieve their goals.
- Case recording and information management – accurate and timely updating of records, maintaining high standards of safeguarding, protecting personal and confidential information.
- Property and Housing management – creating a safe, welcoming and psychologically informed home environment for young people, where their safety and wellbeing is at the centre of everything you do, and their LGBTQ+ identities are celebrated.

We are looking for a Trainer and you could soon be helping us to help better support professionals and their clients with housing problems.
About the Role
You will deliver training to a variety of external customers, focussing on housing and homelessness. The overall aim will be to support capacity and capability of the housing and homelessness sector to achieve better outcomes. You will need to keep your knowledge up to date and contribute the insights you gain from training delivery and observing our front-line services to develop existing and new courses, ensuring excellent quality and positive feedback. Also, you will participate in consultancy and mystery shopping as needed.
About you
To succeed, you will need experience of delivering and developing training courses which are engaging and interactive, along with a strong understanding of housing and homelessness law. You will also have a sound knowledge of IT tools such as webinar and e-learning platform and Microsoft applications. The role will involve travel to deliver training as needed.

We are recruiting for an Assistant Shop Manager to join a busy and creative team in Hackney. You will join an exciting team and collaborate to build a group of volunteers from all walks of life, raising money to fund Crisis’ work ending homelessness. We are bold with a culture of continuous review and improvement, where we try new things, take risks, and sometimes fail. There will be numerous opportunities to improve our team’s effectiveness. Your voice will count!
We also work closely with local artists and universities. We’d love you to bring your own ideas, along with your experience of fashion, retail and current trends, to this role. You will have opportunities to build your own skills and career progression through training and development – many of our shop managers were promoted internally. Your duties
As a Deputy Manager, you will be responsible for line-managing a dedicated team of outreach workers and navigators, ensuring they deliver high-quality services to individuals experiencing rough sleeping. Your leadership will be vital in driving operational effectiveness and supporting the team to engage with people who need help most.
You will work closely with local authority partners, statutory and voluntary services, and key stakeholders to ensure an integrated, person-centred approach to tackling rough sleeping. You will also contribute to the development and delivery of service strategies, bringing your expertise to enhance the partnership working ethos that is key to Tower Hamlets’ approach.

Introduction to the Role
We are looking for a Research and Policy Officer (Maternity Cover) to join our expanding Policy and Research department, which also oversees the TDS Charitable Foundation. This is a pivotal role supporting our mission to improve standards in the private rented sector through impactful research, thought leadership, and policy engagement.
The successful candidate will play a key part in delivering our research programme, including overseeing flagship projects like the Voice of the Tenant and Voice of the Landlord surveys, and producing high-quality qualitative and quantitative research.
You will also support the smooth running of the Charitable Foundation’s grant-making and governance activities and contribute to our work influencing policy and practice across the UK’s private rented sector.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Research
1. Collaborate with external research contractors to deliver the regular ‘Voice of the Tenant’ and ‘Voice of the Landlord’ Survey.
2. Ensure the research findings are widely disseminated through different channels, including events, publications, briefings and digital content.
3. Help identify research gaps and contribute to the development execution of new research projects or commissioning of external research.
4. Conduct proactive desk-based research to identify emerging trends, new policy developments, and partnership opportunities relevant to the Foundation and the sector.
5. Undertake in-house research activities, such as literature reviews, focus groups, stakeholder interviews, where required.
