You will provide high quality support to the Head of Audit, Risk & Governance in the implementation and oversight of effective risk management and assurance policies and procedures for the whole organisation.

You will attend the Audit & Risk Committee and other board committees from time to time to present on risk and assurance.  With experience of delivering 2nd line risk and assurance activities within large, complex or heavily regulated organisation, you will be effective in building professional relationships and influencing and collaborating with colleagues from all disciplines and at all levels.

Role Requirements

• Your main objectives is to support the board and senior leadership team in ensuring the charity continues to deliver high-quality, safe, effective and financially sustainable services for vulnerable children now and in the longer-term;
• Under the guidance of the Head of Risk, Audit & Governance, and in collaboration with key stakeholders across the organisation, coordinate and manage the implementation and ongoing development of the charity’s risk management framework; risk policies, risk appetite statement; “risk universe” and board assurance framework / assurance map;
• Undertake deep dive risk assessments and provide assurance over the effectiveness of internal controls from time to time as required by Audit & Risk Committee;
• Undertake a quarterly review of key financial controls and report findings to the Finance, Finance, Investments & Resources Committee and Audit & Risk Committee;
• Monitor and report on the implementation of agreed management actions designed to strengthen risk mitigation strategies / close compliance gaps and provide assurance on these to SLT and trustees.
• Prepare the risk update for SLT, the board and each of its committees including risk heat maps and key risk indicators for the charity’s principal risks.
• Establish effective working relationships with other second line risk, quality and compliance functions and periodically monitor the effectiveness of their activities.
• Liaise with SLT directors to ensure departmental risk registers are in place and appropriately maintained.
• Facilitate risk workshops and provide online training on TCT’s risk management policy and procedures. Meet regularly with risk owners to review risk responses and progress with actions.  Ensure there is an effective process of escalation of significant risks to SLT and trustees;
• Prepare an annual review of the effectiveness of internal control and risk management for the Audit & Risk Committee;

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Education Executive plays an important role in the facilitation and delivery of RLSS UK’s Education Strategy and will be a key contributor towards our organisation’s goal to ensure everyone can Enjoy Water Safely, Free From Drowning. The role supports the Education Manager with the implementation of educational initiatives throughout the whole of the UK and Ireland and works with both external partners and colleagues within RLSS UK to communicate our vital water safety messages to young people in an accessible, engaging and inclusive way. RLSS UK are leading experts in water safety and this role aims to grow both the number of children that receive our life-saving education but also looks to diversify the audience through adaptable resources and new approaches.

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work with the Education Manager and colleagues throughout the organisation to deliver the RLSS UK ‘Education Strategy’, ensuring that that more young people have access to quality water safety education
• Facilitate education pilots and new interventions that are informed by the ‘Education Strategy’
• Administer future developments of RLSS UK’s education packages, ensuring that they are impactful and inclusive
• Work closely with the Volunteering Team to extend the capability of the community to deliver water safety education, providing volunteers, partners, and members with the relevant information and resources, thus standardising the delivery of our education programme
• Communicate regularly with schools, colleges and other educational institutions, encouraging the growth and stewardship of our education workforce, so that RLSS UK is more visible in schools and youth settings across the UK and Ireland
• Deputise for the Education Manager and occasionally represent RLSS UK at wider forums and groups as someone knowledgeable about water safety education
• Work with RLSS UK internal teams to ensure educational resources are up to date, accessible and attractive to a variety of different audiences
• Under direction from the Education Manager, work on new projects and initiatives which particularly seek to make water safety education accessible to ‘harder to reach communities’
• Maintain relationships with external agencies and individuals delivering similar work in the education space to network and elicit best practices

What the job involves

Our Events and Community Fundraising team raises vital funds for Prostate Cancer UK through a wide range of activities, events and challenges. Alongside our own flagship events, we recruit teams for some of the UK’s best-loved sporting events, including the TCS London Marathon, Great North Run and the London Landmarks Half Marathon. The team also organise our flagship walking event, March for Men, and our Tour de France themed cycling event, the Grand Depart Classic.

As Senior Sporting Events Executive, you’ll take the operational lead in delivering income across our third-party events programme, alongside project managing our team of London Marathon runners. You’ll manage at least one Events and Community Coordinator, supporting their development and ensuring the team delivers outstanding supporter care at every stage. You’ll also play a key role in spotting and developing new opportunities within the charity events market.

This is a hands-on role covering every aspect of event delivery; from leading project meetings, setting budgets and developing marketing plans, to crafting supporter communications, managing logistics and providing on-the-day event support. You’ll also oversee post-event processes such as remittance and thanking supporters, ensuring we maximise income and provide a first-class experience for every participant. Working closely with teams across the charity, you’ll help deliver a packed calendar of events and take the lead in coordinating our brilliant volunteers on event days.

You’ll bring experience of working within a sporting events team, with a track record of supporting the delivery of large-scale events; from marketing and communications right through to event-day execution. As Senior Advocate, you will line-manage a team of advocates and be responsible for providing support, developing your team, and managing performance. You will work closely with our Head of Advocacy to review, maintain and improve the quality of our advocacy services, including analysing data and producing reports. You will support the effective and timely allocation of referrals, and you will be a point of contact for queries about our advocacy services.

You will also be expected to manage your own caseload of advocacy referrals. This will involve meeting with clients, professionals and other stakeholders and ascertaining and representing your client’s wishes, views and beliefs.  As such, the role involves travel to locations such as clients’ homes, hospitals, care homes, and community settings. While some work can be completed from home, particularly administrative tasks, access to your own transport and a reliable home internet connection is essential.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Provide appropriate line-management support and challenge to members of the advocacy team, including providing case support to advocates in your team. 

2. Oversee the training and development of your team. 

3. Monitor service capacity and support the allocation of referrals to Advocates. 

4. Ensure, through regular monitoring and feedback, the quality and accuracy of case notes, reports and record keeping from the Advocates in your team. 

5. Respond to relevant queries from referrers, service users, members of the public and other stakeholders. 

6. Maintain a focus on the delivery of a high-quality advocacy service. Review key statistical and qualitative data to ensure the service is reaching agreed targets.

7. Carry a case load of advocacy referrals – the size of your case load will be dependent on the size of the team you are managing and your hours of work. 

8. Promote and publicise the advocacy service in creative ways to ensure it reaches people who may require the service. Promote the service to other stakeholders such as partner organisations and professionals.

9. Keep abreast of developments in relevant legislation and good practice guidance. 

10. Assist the Head of Advocacy and Senior Management Team to determine any future development of the service and take lead responsibility for specific areas of work as required.

11. Be an active participant in the wider YVC team and seek to work with all YVC colleagues to deliver our strategy, maintain quality and embed the values of the organisation.

• Have experience of managing teams of front line workers - ideally within the context of health and social care, and with experience of providing supervision to staff who provide 1:1 support to vulnerable clients

• Have experience of delivering independent advocacy (or a similar type of role involving case work) in a range of health and social care settings

• Have strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to develop team working. Be able to motivate, support and drive high performance in your team. 

• Have a strong focus on collaborative working within a dynamic team and a commitment to helping everyone improve. 

• Be well-organised with an ability to handle a busy workload and prioritise effectively. 

• Have excellent IT skills - ideally experience of using Excel, databases and contact management systems such as CharityLog or equivalent, with an ability to produce reports.

• Be an excellent communicator, with an ability to adapt your approach in order to engage with a wide range of stakeholders 

• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to communicate effectively with vulnerable people who often have significant communication barriers.

Meet your Manager

Main Duties

• Maintain oversight of data being captured in the Microsoft-based impact tool to ensure consistency and quality for supporting organisational planning and decision making
• Support teams in data collection by working with internal stakeholders and ensure data managed by the Impact and Learning team is accurate, complete and reliable
• Contribute to production of reports including dashboards, and presentations for various audiences (internal and external)
• Work closely with the IT team and others to support the integration and optimisation of organisational systems, including the project database, Impact Tool and Matter Management System, and potentially other systems including fundraising and contact management

The Drive Partnership, formed by Respect, SafeLives and Social Finance, is working to transform the national response to perpetrators of domestic abuse. They work to end domestic abuse and protect victims by disrupting, challenging, and changing the behaviour of those who are causing harm. Together they have developed the Drive Project to address a gap in work with high-harm, high-risk perpetrators of domestic abuse. They also work to advocate for systems and policy change- to develop sustainable, national systems that respond more effectively to all perpetrators of domestic abuse Perpetrator Service Operations Manager you will:

• Ensure that all support and advice given is in line with Drive Partnership key messages and strategic objectives.
• You will contribute to the development of the Drive model through service reviews, supporting the Drive Partnership in delivery challenges and implementation of changes to the Drive operational model.
• You will act as a champion for Drive across the area in all aspects of development and delivery. You will be expected to represent the service at local and national events; deliver training and presentations as appropriate.
• You will support the Commissioner and Drive Central Team in identifying and securing resources and implementing future funding plans agreed for the service.
• You will be passionate and committed to working within a multi-disciplinary team and will have a demonstrable track record of working with complex need service users. This may be within the field of domestic abuse, and/or mental health, substance misuse and offending.
