CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

For over 40 years, Being There, a medium sized charity, has provided practical, emotional and social support to those affected by life limiting illnesses across much of Greater Manchester. The services of the charity are delivered by an enthusiastic cohort of volunteers managed by an established and capable management team.

After steering Being There though the Pandemic and the recent economic impact on charities, our long serving CEO, Karen Mercer, is retiring. We are therefore looking to recruit a new leader for our team.

We are looking for someone who can:

· Understand and navigate the challenges of charity funding in difficult economic circumstances.

· Lead, motivate and develop the management team, administration staff and volunteers to expand the service.

· Raise the profile of the organisation.

· Seek out and develop relationships with similar organisations, client groups, existing and potential funders.

SSAFA’s Network & Community team, operating across the UK, are proud to announce this role as part of their strategic development plans.

This is a new fundraising opportunity to help provide support for serving personnel, veterans and their families ensuring that no-one battles alone.

Supported by the Statutory Grants Manager, this role is fundamental in developing, supporting and championing new and existing fundraising from heath providers and local authorities. The aim is to increase income generation in this area whilst raising SSAFA’s profile within local authorities and health care provision. This initiative will require relationship development and bid writing skills to create effective proposals for support.

SSAFA is entering into an exciting period of strategic development within this proven income stream. If successful, you will be the part of a small team with potential for career development.

There will be an occasional need to travel across the UK and to work evenings and weekends at key events.

Local Motion Project Manager

The role

The post holder or this role will be responsible for the work of LocalMotion in Oldham and ensuring that local people, community organisations and institutions can collaborate to achieve their shared vision.

The shared purpose of LocalMotion is to learn how all elements of our societal structure, including funders, sectors, and citizens, can work together equitably within a geographical place to positively disrupt the normal patterns and vicious cycles that are holding communities back, to reimagine a more just future for everyone. And for the collective learning to influence change at a local and national level.

The main things you will be asked to do in this role

· To provide effective and visible leadership of the LocalMotion work in Oldham, both within Oldham itself and within the wider LocalMotion movement and network.

· To ensure that Oldham’s LocalMotion work is delivered in line with LocalMotion aims and values and strives for excellence in coproduction and collaborative practice.

· To actively connect with people, communities organisations and institutions in order to maximise the reach and impact of this opportunity.

· Work with the local coordination group to establish the ways of working and processes required to share power and devolve resources and leadership to drive forward the work to achieve our local vision.

· To ensure the local coordination group in Oldham is well supported, is reflective of the communities of Oldham and has the practical support it needs to carry out its functions and responsibilities.

· To ensure that the LocalMotion resources are spent in accordance with the grant agreement, the budget and that all reporting, due diligence and learning requirements are met.

· To ensure the LocalMotion work in Oldham is well documented, and we are able to share learning and impact with key stakeholders.

· To work with local partners, funders and other stakeholders to secure additional resources that will help achieve Oldham’s LocalMotion vision.

· To contribute to LocalMotion learning and governance events (approximately 4-6 per year) as part of the wider network and be a representative of the work in Oldham, including delivering presentations and sharing learning and insight.

To organise and host events and visits to further the objectives of LocalMotion

Hours: 28 hours per week (Monday to Friday, with some evening and weekend work)

Length of contract: 3 years with the possibility to extend.

The purpose of this role is to support NEON’s work to build organising capacity in UK social movements, including through NEON’s Worker-led Transition project. You will:

• Build support for a worker-led transition in the climate movement and communities, with an emphasis on local and regional coalition and capacity-building in key industrial regions, as well as strengthening relationships with the trade union movement

Citizens Advice Hammersmith and Fulham is recruiting for Advice Services Managers, who will be responsible for the supervision, quality and monitoring performance of the advice and information team. We’re a thriving advice organisation that is part of the national Citizens Advice network. We provide information, advice and casework support to around 10,000 people a year. Our services are delivered by a team of around 40 paid staff and 60 volunteers. Our services provide 154 units of accommodation to people experiencing homelessness and have complex needs. The services are 24 hour supported accommodation sites. Line Management and Leadership

• Ensure service responsibilities and requirements are carried out effectively. This includes but is not limited to; welfare checks, risk assessments, support sessions, safeguarding checks, training and development, and other responsibilities required for effective service delivery.
• Support the team to carry out their day to day duties and responsibilities, offer guidance and support as necessary. 
• Work proactively to ensure the service and team meet and exceed Key Performance Indicators, and work in line with professional codes of conduct.
• Empower residents and participants to make decisions to take control over their lives, by creating an enabling environment.
• Be part of the operational on-call Rota for providing out-of-hours support across the operations directorate.

Risk Management

• Follow relevant risk assessment and management procedures, share relevant information with others as necessary.
• Ensure all case recording and information is accurately recorded in a timely manner, ensuring confidentiality and GDPR.
• Champion, and act as a point of reference for safeguarding concerns within the service(s). Ensure all staff attend relevant safeguarding and training and use knowledge to coach and advise the team.

Property and Housing Management

• Ensure the accommodation in which residents live is clean and maintained to a high standard
• Ensure all repairs and maintenance issues are correctly reported and managed through to completion.
• Ensure a provision of high quality housing management service is provided to residents. 

Financial Management

• Manage the service budget and review monthly management accounts: Set budgets and ensure resources are maximised.
• Promote effective cost control mechanisms and other financial activities.
• Maintain financial management within the service.

Other

• Some of what else is included: Contract management and Internal auditing, admin, and general other duties as required. 

Other responsibilities than those described above may be required to be undertaken from time to time and will be expected to be performed to as long as it is within the capability and level of the position. Please refer to the JDPS attached for more information.

KEY CRITERIA

What we are looking for:

• Understanding and/or experience of working with people of complex backgrounds, ex-offenders, mental health, substance misuse, challenging behaviours
• Experience of working with and engaging with diverse groups of people from varying backgrounds
• Previous experience in people management and development
• IT Proficiency, including Microsoft Office, and the ability to navigate and learn new case management systems and other types of organisational software.
• Ability to promote the service and provide outreach-based provision, with an ability to liaise and work effectively in partnership with stakeholders
• Understanding of Housing Management, including voids and evictions

As a valued and integral part of the Fundraising and Communications team, our successful candidate will lead a small sub-team to generate at least £500,000 income each year, including the direct line management of a Senior Fundraising Officer, who you will support to line manage the Fundraising Assistant.  We will count on you to implement effective processes and procedures across the Fundraising and collaborating teams, manage and refine processes for recordkeeping and devise, maintain and update our Fundraising Handbook.

You will also be expected to manage the development and implementation of our Individual Giving Strategy and our Individual Giving income stream through single and regular giving appeals, as well as managing a portfolio of challenge events nationally that provides excellent stewardship for a range of participants.  Developing and designing high-quality applications, presentations, and pitches to secure five-, six- and seven figure funding opportunities from Trusts & Foundations, Corporates and High Net Worth Individuals is a key element of this role, as is providing excellent stewardship to existing donors.

Location: Southwark, Haig House Hybrid

Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract, 12 Months Maternity Cover

Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday

Salary: £41,172 to £42,192 per annum (Inclusive of London Supplement)

We’re looking for a passionate and experienced direct marketing professional that thrives on leading, delivering and overseeing multi-channel campaigns and projects.

As a Supporter Development Manager, you’ll have a crucial role in engaging and developing our existing supporter-base through a range of activity. As well as being a confident project manager, you’ll need to be a strong communicator to engage with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure our campaigns hit deadlines and deliver targets.

Understanding your budgets and campaign performance is also a vital part of this role as you’ll play an important part in budget development and management. Our programme is always focussed on further developing and growing our supporter engagement and financial support, so this role requires strong knowledge of audience segmentation, planning in a supporter-centric way and campaign KPIs. It’s also important to understand how we’re compliant and working within all regulations and as well as best practise processes.

You will be contracted to our London Hub, Haig House. Under our Future Working framework, there will be some flexibility for working remotely/at home, using our collaboration tools to work with but with a minimum expectation of two days/week connecting directly face-to-face with colleagues at the hub.
