Who we are

We are a medium sized charity supporting children and young people in Surrey and surrounding areas who have been bereaved or who are facing the bereavement of a close family member. We are the only charity in our local community providing a range of services that give the opportunity for children and families to come together in person. We know we make a difference to children and young people at a really difficult time and support them to move forward with their lives.

About the role

Our current director is moving on to a new and challenging role nearer to home. We are seeking a Charity Director to take our strategy forward; we are aiming to reach all children and young people in our local communities who need our support through their bereavement journey and extend the range of services we can provide. This is a broad role in a growing organisation with limited resources, it involves a mix of operational, strategic and external facing activities.

They will have skills in income generation, fundraising, relationship building, managing a small team of dedicated staff and managing limited resources to provide the largest impact for our children and families. Who we are.

Unitas is a unique and vibrant youth centre with state-of-the-art facilities. It is at the heart of the Barnet community.

“Unitas” was named by local young people, and opened in summer 2019 as the second OnSide Youth Zone in London.

At Unitas, they believe that all young people in Barnet should have the opportunity to discover their passion and their purpose, to find out what they’ve got and where it could take them. The Youth Zone is a purpose-built space fizzing with energy and crammed with incredible facilities. It is staffed by skilled and dedicated youth workers who truly believe in young people – helping them see what they could achieve, and giving them the skills, confidence and ambition to achieve their potential.

Since opening they have delivered life-changing support to help over 12,000 young people aged 8-19 (and up to 25 for young people with additional needs) from a diverse range of backgrounds to thrive.

The role.

This is an exciting role that sits on the senior leadership team with a significant amount of autonomy for an outstanding fundraiser and leader who is interested in further developing a fundraising function to eventually deliver c.£1.8m fundraising income per annum.

They are at a crucial stage in the evolution of their fundraising. Opened in 2019, our Youth Zone is founded on the OnSide funding model whereby the first four years of revenue is made possible primarily by major donors – Founder Patrons – who each committed a minimum of £25k pa for four years.

Now as they enter year five, they seek the continuation of this support and are in the initial stages of diversifying their income sources. They have also secured significant ringfenced funding to expand the fundraising team, and the incoming Director of Fundraising will have significant scope to shape the team around their vision and strategy. Successful achievement of goals and a sound strategy will allow for further growth in future years in order to sustain, diversify and enhance income.

We are searching for exceptional relationship fundraisers who excel when driving their own portfolio of high-value support and leading by example.

This is a strategic and hands-on role so we are looking for candidates who will relish working cross-organisationally on the SLT as well as coaching and supporting the team to deliver success.

Souster Youth is an exciting Christian youth work organisation in the east Northamptonshire area. We transform the social, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing of young people in our area through our work in schools and the local community. Based at Souster Youth Trust, Thrapston, Northamptonshire, the Director leads a team of 4 staff and over 20 volunteers.

As Director, you will be motivated by your Christian faith to inspire hope in the lives of young people. You will have vision and strategic ability to lead Souster Youth. With excellent interpersonal and communication skills, you will inspire young people, the staff team, volunteers, and a range of external organisations. You will be empathetic to different views and confident presenting and discussing theological and cultural issues. Key Responsibilities

1. To lead the development and implementation of the vision and strategy of Souster Youth Trust.
2. To develop and promote the trust as a leading, innovative, and valued charity, supported by young people, schools, churches and the wider community.
3. To lead the staff team and volunteers, ensuring safe recruitment, management and appraisals, support, training and development.
4. To work closely with secondary schools, ensuring the continuous improvement of the service provided to them in response to emerging needs and opportunities.
5. To maintain and grow networks and partnerships with churches, relevant organisations, funders and other stakeholders.
6. To mentor and support the staff team by working alongside them directly with young people to model good practice.
7. To enable the voice of young people to be heard in decision-making and shaping of strategy and priorities.
8. To ensure compliance with legislation and champion best practice, with particular regard to Safeguarding, Health and Safety and other policies.
9. To oversee the administration and financial systems.
10. To actively manage the budget and fundraising, working towards the financial sustainability of the trust.
11. To work with the Board of Trustees, providing advice and reports as required.
12. To engage with regular line management, annual review, and commit to continuing professional development.

Hours: full-time, 28-35 hours per week. Youth Realities hosts a fortnightly 4-day working week policy.
Location: Hybrid working, with in-person requirements from Youth Realities’ office in Colindale (NW9 5XW) and attending events where required in London.
Salary: £46,800 - this is based on current resource and trustees are open to salary increases as funding becomes available.

Job summary

We are looking for a Chief Executive who can provide leadership, aligned with our valies and manage the organisation, working with the Trustee Board to provide vision and communicate a clear and inspiring strategic direction, implementing change as required.

• To lead all staff and volunteers engaged by Motiv8 to successfully achieve objectives in line with Motiv8 valies in an inclusive way
• To develop the policy and strategy of Motiv8 in collaboration with the Board of Trustees
• To oversee and lead implementation of policies and strategy to deliver Motiv8 strategic aims now in the coming years
• To ensure that Motiv8 maintains and develops policies that reinforce inclusion and diversity in the workplace, that addrss all kinds of harrassment and protect minority and youth groups with whom Motiv8 works
• To represent Motiv8 on behalf of the Board of Trustees, to develop relations with our staff members, volunteers, partnership and stakeholder groups
• To further develop Motiv8 in line with the charity's objectives, to implement necessary change and ensure that Motiv8 exhibits ongoing relevance.

London Youth has a track record of providing high quality outdoor learning and trips away from home, for over 75 years.  You will be joining us at a critical time as we seek to provide these opportunities for more children and young people than ever before.

As the Director you will oversee the smooth operation of Hindleap Warren, in East Sussex, and Woodrow High House, in Buckinghamshire.  You will also lead on the safety and safeguarding aspects of London Youth’s work, supported by a strong and well-qualified team.

Having already undertaken substantial renovations at Woodrow during the pandemic, London Youth is making plans to improve the Hindleap site.  You will be leading that capital investment programme.

London Youth aims to make more trips happen for our member youth organisations and young Londoners who would not otherwise get the chance. You will have a key role to play in maintaining existing support for this work and securing new opportunities.

Working closely with a highly committed and skilled Senior Team, the Director of Outdoor Centres is a key appointment to the team to enable us to realise our ambitions.

Chief Executive Officer, Remote, 35 hrs Salary £90,097

GFS is a feminist organisation with a mission to empower girls and young women in England and Wales to live their best lives. Girls as young as 6 tell us that they cannot be themselves. This causes problems for them and society. So, we offer an early intervention service for girls living in areas of deprivation to have the greatest impact.

This is an exciting role with an opportunity to lead the charity into the 150th Year of delivery and with a new strategy to address need. It will involve working with the leadership team and all departments but also the board and their support committees, the ambassadors, and presidents as well as the wonderful team of volunteers across England and Wales.

Role Purpose:

Street Child is a rapidly growing, child-focused, humanitarian and development organisation. In 2023, Street Child celebrated reaching over one million children across 25 countries over its fifteen years of existence. This was accomplished with and through a growing network of more than 200 national and local actors. The Regional Director will be a standard bearer of this ambition in East and Southern Africa, providing leadership across all countries where Street Child is operational while monitoring and pursuing growth opportunities across the region. As Street Child’s most senior representative in the region, the Regional Director will guide and drive the organisation to deliver on the objective of ensuring all children are safe, in school, and learning.

As Street Child actively seeks opportunities to expand its support for the most marginalized girls and boys, the Regional Director will be responsible for providing outstanding leadership and for resourcing and delivering high impact programming across East and Southern Africa. The Regional Director will work to identify and advance partnerships with regional, national, and local actors, as well as donors. This will require bringing a strong network to the role along with energy to represent Street Child in organisational, regional, and global forums. As Street Child country teams drive delivery for girls and boys, the Regional Director will work with country directors to develop high-functioning teams to deliver and resource ambitious regional and country strategies.

The Regional Director will manage one regional programme coordinator and will progressively assume responsibility for line management of country directors in East and Southern Africa.

Key Responsibilities:

• The Regional Director will act as chief motivator, working collaboratively with country, regional, and head office teams to:
• Cultivate enthusiastic and high-performing teams through outstanding leadership:
• Build, lead and motivate an ambitious and enthusiastic team of Street Child Country Directors and Strategic Leadership Teams.
• Oversee and support the recruitment and development of passionate, motivated, and technically excellent Street Child staff.
• Strengthen Street Child’s culture of learning, for both staff and local partners, by identifying professional and organisational development opportunities that respond to self-identified capacity gaps.
• Build a supportive network of learning and information exchange between regional county teams.
• Be a frequent in-person presence in operational countries, sometimes spending extended periods to support leadership at the country level, including in insecure contexts.
• Oversee the management of partnerships in countries in East and Southern Africa where Street Child does not maintain a direct presence.
• Drive resource mobilization across the East and Southern Africa region, for country programmes, regional strategy, and partners:
• In close collaboration with country leadership, identify country-level needs, seek out opportunities, and support in the development of winning proposals for country programmes.
• Across the region, identify needs and gaps, and drive new potential expansion opportunities in line with Street Child’s global strategy.
• Guide programmatic excellence across the region through robust strategy development and high-quality programme delivery:
• Develop a technically robust and evidence-based regional strategy that identifies Street Child’s comparative value and strategic goals in the region, across humanitarian, development and refugee contexts.
• Continuously consult with Country Directors, programme managers and local partners to ensure programme design and delivery is iterative, adaptive and quality-assured and impact is clearly measured.
• Provide support to local partners to develop organisational development plans and their own high-functioning leadership structures.
• Oversee and work closely with the regional finance team in their development and delivery of accurate, value for money budgets and robust operational processes.
• Ensure that operations and programmes in East and Southern Africa are conducted in line with Street Child’s policies and standards, including in the areas of safeguarding, safety and security, HR, finance.

1) Be a passionate representative of Street Child and our partners, across the organisation and in external forums:

• Represent Street Child at the highest level in East and Southern Africa, including pro-active participation in relevant coordination mechanisms at national and regional level.
• Represent Street Child and the needs of children in East and Southern Africa in global for a as required.

2) Advance and diversify partnerships with the local actors who respond to the needs of girls and boys in their communities, and with donors who can resource the work:

• Lead the development of strategic partnerships with relevant actors including donors, INGOs and local/national government, including at the regional level.
• Oversee the development of a resource mobilisation strategy for the region based on Street Child’s expertise and donor priorities.
• Lead and/or support Country Directors in the development of high-quality and highly competitive institutional funding proposals.
• Proactive engagement with Street Child UK head office and programmes team on strategic, networking and fundraising activities.
• The Key Responsibilities provide a high-level view of the Regional Director role. These responsibilities will evolve as the Regional Director expands Street Child’s reach across East and Southern Africa. Street Child operates with an entrepreneurial spirit that may require staff to step-up and step-in to reasonable tasks beyond the initial description of their role. The Regional Director may occasionally be called upon to provide surge or scoping support to other parts of Street Child Programmes as delegated by the Director of Global Programmes.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Significant senior management experience, leading high-functioning programme regional or county teams in the humanitarian and development sector. Previous experience as a country or regional director is preferred.
• Strong strategic thinker, with demonstrated expertise developing, resourcing, and delivering strategic plans at the regional or country level.
• Demonstrable experience of proposal development and/or winning funding; Experience in both humanitarian and development contexts.
• Strong command of the localisation agenda, and commitment to local level leadership and decision-making.
• Strong experience delivering high quality education and/or child protection programming.
• Excellent written and spoken communications in English.
• Experience working in the East and Southern Africa region.
• Demonstrated experience working closely with and in support of a multitude of partners including those from local civil society, government, and the private sector.
• Excellent relationship building skills, with an ability to skillfully navigate both national and international stakeholders.
• Willingness to actively engage in program development with country teams including extended missions to support at country level (significant travel expected).
• Additional language skills with a preference for Swahili, Portuguese, French, Somali, or other regional language
