Job Title: Service Manager 

Location: Bermondsey, near Surrey Quays station. This location has step free and lift access. Work from home can be flexible upon prior agreement with Head of Service (Line Manager)

Salary: £41,600

Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:00. Onsite face to face service, with flexibility around these hours required as per resident and service requirements. All managers, including this position will take part in the out of hours on call duty.

About the Role

We're seeking a Service Manager to lead our new service which is opening based in Bermondsey, an Independent Approved Premises (IAP) commissioned by Criminal Justice Services (CJS). The service works with residents who have recently been released from prison and helps them to reintegrate into the community, and restart their journey to independence. The team will identify resident needs alongside any licensing restrictions, and will create tailored, person centred support plans including housing support, activities, and personal journey outcomes to help them to reintegrate. The team work in a multi disciplinary approach, working alongside probation services, job centres, mental health teams, and other community partners, with a focus on risk management and public protection. 

As a Service Manager, you will lead the team by providing line management and leadership support to enable and empower the team to deliver high quality support to our residents. You will drive service outcomes in line with our contractual requirements, ensuring quality, consistency, within a trauma informed setting. You will ensure all aspects of the service run smoothly and in collaboration with our internal teams and external partners. We're looking for someone who is solution focused, and has a real passion to create a safe space where individuals can thrive to meet personal outcomes.

The successful candidate will have prior experience managing finances, ideally for a charitable organisation or not for profit, however you do not need to be a fully qualified accountant. You will have team management experience with the ability to motivate and support staff and bring experience of embedding policies and processes to ensure smooth running of the organisation. You will be a self starter with the ability and drive to learn aspects of the role that you are not as familiar. The post will work to maximise potential and develop both new and existing donors, through targeted donor development campaigns, supporter acquisition and retention programmes.

The post holder will work flexibly across the Individual Giving income streams including individual donations, campaigns, gifts in memory and legacies. As part of this, a key responsibility will be the relationship management and support to any of our supported families who choose to fundraise for SSCH. This role will also support with legacy administration.

The successful applicant will have demonstrable experience within a fundraising or comparable role. Ideally the candidate will have some legacy administration experience.

The role oversees the strategic direction and delivery of TMF’s bilingual e-mentoring programme, Together Making Futures, supporting disadvantaged young people (aged 14-19) in Wales. Responsibilities include managing programme operations, communications, stakeholder relationships, and administrative functions to ensure impactful mentoring and sustained engagement. 

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the e-mentoring programme, including strategic planning, financial oversight, and reporting to trustees and donors.
• Oversee and deliver e-mentoring sessions, Insight talks, and Future Routes programme.
• Maintain and develop relationships with education providers, mentors, mentees, business, industry, and university partners.
• Manage communications with stakeholders, including day-to-day queries, press requests, and public relations.
• Administer mentor and mentee registrations, DBS checks, and database management.
• Develop and deliver weekly themes, messages, and training materials.
• Monitor and evaluate programme outcomes, including quantitative and qualitative data collection.
• Support recruitment and engagement of mentors and mentees.
• Develop TMF’s social media and digital presence.
• Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, and equal opportunities policies are upheld.
• Contribute to fundraising, grant applications, and sustainability strategies.
• Organise trustee meetings, facilitate action points, and maintain project documentation.
• Undertake other duties as required to support the charity’s mission. 

Essential Qualifications & Experience

• GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English; A Levels and Degree (or equivalent).
• Experience in project management, education sector, and monitoring/evaluation.
• Strong organisational, written, and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Computer literacy (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Commitment to confidentiality, equal opportunities, and professional standards.
• Ability to work flexibly and prioritise competing demands.
• Enhanced DBS check required for working with young people under 18.
• Driver’s license

Desirable

• Ability to communicate in through the medium of Welsh.

You will use our database daily, keeping information accurate and up to date, and deal with a wide range of enquiries by phone, email and post, providing warm, professional and timely responses.

The postholder will have experience in grant financial management and compliance, and in supporting grantee financial management and compliance. The postholder will have knowledge of Agresso/Navision accounting software and Microsoft Excel and experience in line management.
 
The postholder will also have strong attention to detail with the ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure. The postholder will have strong analytical skills, and an understanding of risk and audit principles. The postholder will have excellent communication skills, able to engage and support both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
 
Desirably, you will have financial experience within an international humanitarian context or similar, including knowledge and experience of IATI reporting. In addition to this, knowledge of charity accounting and tax issues, including the Charities SORP.

Elrha are a remote first organisation and as such this role can be based from home, anywhere within the UK. There are also offices available for those who would like to spend time in the office. This role is full-time (35 hours a week) and initially on an interim basis, funded until September 2026.
