Role

Sexual violence in prisons has long been ignored, leaving men without adequate support. Over the past year we have been part of a committee with HM Prison Service, Metropolitan Police and NHS England to develop a Service Level Agreement on responding to serious sexual assaults within prisons in London.

This three-year NHS-funded pilot is designed to:

• Train prison staff to understand the impact of sexual violence on male, boy, and non-binary prisoners.
• Raise awareness of sexual violence within prisons and equip staff with the tools to respond appropriately.
• Establish and strengthen referral pathways for survivors in London prisons.
• Gather key insights to inform future service provision and systemic change.

As a Trainer on the Prison Project you will work alongside two dedicated therapists. By embedding trauma-informed approaches within the prison system, this role will empower staff, improve survivor outcomes, and lay the foundation for long-term change in how sexual violence in prison is addressed.

Main responsibilities include:

• Deliver comprehensive training sessions to prison staff, healthcare teams, mental health professionals, probation officers and other key stakeholders.
• Develop bespoke training materials, toolkits, and resources to support ongoing learning for prison staff.
• Facilitate reflective practice sessions (‘trauma clinics’) to help staff process and improve their responses to survivors.
• Work closely with prison leadership teams to embed best practices into their safeguarding policies and procedures.
• Liaise with the Young People’s Therapist and Adult Therapist to align training with the therapeutic support available in prisons.
• Gather insights from prison staff on barriers to disclosure and challenges in supporting survivors.

About the role

We’re seeking a PPIE Manager to lead and strengthen patient involvement across mitochondrial disease research. As an equal partner in the LifeArc Centre for Rare Mitochondrial Diseases, The Lily Foundation leads the programme’s patient and public involvement strategy.

While the initial priority for this role is delivering the PPIE strategy for the LifeArc Centre, as a permanent member of the team, you’ll be responsible for building a sustainable involvement infrastructure that extends across all Lily Foundation research workstreams.

You’ll become a ‘patient expert’ who can bridge the gap between the patient community and the scientific world. You’ll be proactive in upskilling and empowering both patients and researchers, ensuring that lived experience remains the compass for future research.

Key responsibilities

• Lead LifeArc Centre delivery: Work closely with LifeArc leadership and researchers to embed meaningful patient involvement across research activities and work packages.
• Develop the IMPACT network: Grow and support our national patient involvement network, identifying opportunities for families to contribute to research design and documentation.

Essential knowledge and skills

• Professional background: A background in science, nursing or research, with the proven ability to digest complex medical concepts and ‘translate’ them into accessible, jargon-free content.
• PPIE expertise: A deep understanding of Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement best practices and the different stages of the research cycle.
• Training and facilitation: Confidence in designing and delivering workshops or capacity-building activities for audiences ranging from families to senior researchers.
• Exceptional communication: Confidence in building relationships with families, senior academic leads and industry partners.

About the job

The role of Families Project Worker involves supporting a caseload of families living in temporary accommodation. The role requires a combination of specialist knowledge and excellent relationship building skills to support residents with varying degrees of mental health, addiction and trauma related issues to engage with appropriate support, improve their experience of temporary accommodation and to access suitable housing solutions.

The role is dependent on excellent communication and joint working with colleagues and a variety of partners and professionals; including the NHS, Probation Service, local council services and other third sector organisations.

The role requires a high degree of motivation to support complex and vulnerable people, often in a lone-working situation. With a passion to work collaboratively with others for the good of our service users, and with some experience of working in a related field in a voluntary or paid capacity.

A high degree of emotional intelligence is required to support service users, many of whom have complex emotional needs, with backgrounds of trauma, neglect, abuse, crime and low self-worth. A role of this nature will experience a range of emotions from joy to grief and as such requires a high degree of resilience to cope with the emotional demands of the role.

Making decisions, “in the moment” to do the right thing to mitigate risk with service users can place high emotional demands on the job holder. The role is highly reactive, unpredictable and at times, chaotic. The role therefore requires a high degree of self-awareness to one’s own resilience levels and exercising appropriate levels of self-care.

We are looking for new team members to join our service supporting Carers across Havering to improve their health and wellbeing, and access wider support that meets their needs.

This is a great opportunity to support local communities, working with Adult Carers and Young Adult Carers and helping them to make informed choices, build confidence, sustain their independence, and access support that meets their individual needs. You will carry out assessments to understand people’s individual circumstances and level of need, working together to co-produce support plans. This will involve meeting Carers in community settings and conducting home visits. The team also facilities coffee mornings and activities offering Carers opportunities for peer support and to take a break from caring.

You’ll build on your local knowledge to signpost and facilitate access for Carers to support services, including financial and benefit advice, housing, health and safety home systems, and leisure and social activities. You will support the development of escalation plans so that Carers are prepared for unforeseen circumstances that would impact negatively on ability to care.

We have full and part-time roles available (minimum 22.5 hours), and applicants should have relevant personal or professional experience of working with Carers and/or vulnerable adults in a relevant sector. This is a key role within the Income Generation team.  You will take ownership of a defined geographical area across South Warwickshire and become the Hospice’s visible ambassador, focused on building sustainable support pipelines across communities, businesses and individuals.  You will work closely with colleagues across the Income Generation team, including retail, to support events, campaigns and supporter engagement to maximise opportunities and build joined-up supporter journeys.

You will be a confident relationship-builder, with experience of developing fundraising or partnership opportunities across local communities.  Your work will help ensure that more families across South Warwickshire can access compassionate hospice care when they need it most.

The Shakespeare Hospice provides compassionate care and support to people across South Warwickshire facing life-limiting illness.  Every year, our services support hundreds of people through diagnosis, treatment, survivorship and bereavement. 

The role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Sussex Community Housing Hub team in providing technical advice and support to communities engaged in rural and community led housing projects.

Community-led housing involves local people playing a leading and lasting role in solving housing problems, creating genuinely affordable homes and strong communities.

You will be working in conjunction with other members of the Hub to help deliver quality affordable housing schemes that these communities are truly proud of.  

The role

This is a senior, externally facing post reporting to the Chief Executive. You'll manage a caseload of community-led housing projects, lead a small team of advisors, and work in partnership with communities, parish councils, housing associations, local authorities, landowners, and developers across East and West Sussex.

You'll also play a part in shaping Druv Homes, AirS's emerging housing association.

What you'll be doing

• Guiding community groups through all stages of the housing development process — from vision and site identification through to planning, funding, and scheme delivery
• Advising on site selection, RP partnerships, planning applications, S106 agreements, and funding strategies (both capital and revenue)
• Building and managing relationships with a wide range of partners — communities, RPs, local authorities, planners, developers, and agents
• Supporting communities to access funding and drafting bids where needed
• Overseeing professional advisers (architects, engineers, etc.) commissioned by community groups
• Leading project team meetings, maintaining project plans, and problem-solving
• Contributing to lobbying and sector advocacy alongside national partners
• Keeping pace with policy and legislative changes in affordable housing and community-led development

What we're looking for

Essential:

• At least 5 years' experience in affordable housing development
• A relevant degree (surveying, building, business management or equivalent experience)
• Proven track record in project management and scheme delivery
• Experience working with local authorities, RPs, and community organisations
• Team management experience
• Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills

Desirable:

• Experience of rural affordable housing and community-led models e.g. Community Land Trusts (CLTs)
• Knowledge of rural housing policy
• Background in the not-for-profit sector
• Experience reporting to boards or executive teams

Practical

The role is based in Lewes with hybrid working. Regular but infrequent travel across East and West Sussex is required — a driving licence or equivalent transport access is essential.

Director of Finance

Due to the retirement of the current post holder, we are seeking an experienced Finance Director to join the leadership team at Compton Care.

We are a large independent charity, specialising in palliative care, based in Wolverhampton. We provide specialist care to the people of Wolverhampton, Dudley, East Shropshire and South Staffordshire, caring for several thousand people every year in one of our two locations, or within our patients’ own homes. 

Considered to be a large hospice offering modern palliative services, we are partially funded by the NHS but in the main are supported by commercial and charitable giving.

The Finance Director’s post is an integral part of the Charity's senior management team, working closely with the Chief Executive, setting the strategic direction of the organisation and ensuring it has the financial systems and resources to implement its strategy.

We are looking for someone who ideally has previous Director level experience. In return this full-time position is being offered on a very senior management (VSM) salary of circa £88.5K.  We would also consider part time work for the right candidate. 

Compton also offers hybrid working, but expectations are that you would need to be in the office for 60% of your working week. .

You will be responsible for all aspects of Compton’s finances ensuring accurate and complete recording of all financial transactions, adherence to internal controls, procedures and all financial compliance standards. You will report to the Chief Executive and work closely with the leadership team and Board of Trustees, whilst managing the organisation’s Finance and IT teams.

Community Connector: The Role

The Community Connector will engage with a wide range of local trusted organisations (LTO’s) to activate the start of the cycling journey for adults and families. They will effectively communicate the aims and benefits of the project to LTOs/referral partners. They will advocate the benefits of cycling to the target audience, whilst recognising the barriers that people may face in participating. They will actively seek opportunities to better understand the lived experience of adults and families and barriers they may face to being physically actively and mentally well.
