Main Purpose of the Post 

To take the lead for Human Resources within Salford CVS, under the direction of the Deputy Chief Executive.

Salford CVS is recruiting a proactive Human Resources Officer to lead our HR function. Working closely with the Deputy Chief Executive, you’ll manage HR records, support recruitment and induction, ensure compliance with legislation and GDPR, and maintain up‑to‑date HR policies and processes. You’ll also coordinate staff training, benefits, and HR metrics to support organisational development.

This role is ideal for someone organised, confident with HR systems, and passionate about supporting a positive workplace culture.

Specific Duties

• Maintain all Human Resources records for staff members including holiday and absence records, staff appraisals and reviews
• Ensure that current Human Resources legislation is being correctly implemented across the organisation.
• Identify and recommend areas for system improvement
• Ensure that appropriate policies are in place and being followed by the workforce
• Support recruitment process lifecycle
• Support staff inductions and help staff to understand Salford CVS policies and values
• Coordinate any external staff benefit schemes, for example Hospital Saturday Fund
• Coordinate staff training and development requirements and to incorporate these into an organisation-wide training and development plan
• Compile and analyse information on HR issues, training, or other areas within the remit of this job function

The role also includes regular liaison with food support agencies and organisations supporting communities with information and advice about financial resilience and debt advice, improving mental wellbeing, becoming more active, losing weight, healthy eating and reducing drug and alcohol use.

Sounds great, what will I be doing?

The main purpose of this role is to provide high-quality support and interventions to clients with mental health needs who require early intervention and prevention. The postholder will support clients throughout their time in the service, empowering them with the skills to cope independently, while working in line with organisational values, the ethos of recovery, and principles of co-production. Responsibilities include managing a caseload of clients, delivering group activities and programmes, and clearly communicating the aims, objectives, pathways, and service model to enable clients to fully participate in and co-produce their support. The role also involves helping service users engage effectively with community professionals, developing peer support networks and community-based approaches, monitoring the health, wellbeing, and safety of service users, and contributing to the core work of the service. Accurate and timely administration, referrals, assessments, and service reviews are required, alongside participation in supervision, appraisals, training, and team development activities. Flexibility, initiative, and a collaborative approach are essential to ensure effective service delivery and support for both clients and colleagues.

Here's what the team will be looking for

The ideal candidate will have lived experience of mental health care pathways, including emergency department attendance, acute admissions, and community mental health services, alongside a solid understanding of the issues affecting individuals with a range of mental health conditions. They will be able to communicate effectively and provide support with dignity and respect, forming and sustaining trusting relationships with service users, carers, peer support workers, and professionals. Strong listening and verbal communication skills are essential to engage appropriately with service users in crisis, colleagues, and external agencies, both in person and over the phone. Knowledge of recovery tools, local mental health and wellbeing support, and the ability to assess needs, risks, and aspirations to provide appropriate signposting are required. The candidate will demonstrate strong prioritisation, time management, and the ability to work dynamically under pressure. Proficiency in IT, including MS Word, Outlook, and internet functions, as well as good literacy and numeracy skills to produce clear written correspondence, is expected. They will have a sound understanding of safeguarding issues and the ability to address them appropriately, work effectively both independently and as part of a team, and support the induction of new peer staff and volunteers. Strong communication, partnership building, and interpersonal skills are essential.

This is an excellent opportunity for a doctor with the appropriate qualifications and experience to further develop their career in palliative medicine within a supportive, multidisciplinary hospice environment.

You will work alongside experienced palliative care doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals to deliver holistic, person-centred care to patients living with life-limiting illness, and to support their families and carers.

Key Responsibilities

· Provide high-quality medical care to patients admitted to the inpatient unit

· Participate fully in the medical on-call and weekend rota supporting the 24-hour service

· Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic palliative and end-of-life care

· Contribute to clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement activity

· Participate in teaching and education programmes, including clinical supervision and formal teaching

· Support junior colleagues and contribute to a culture of learning and continuous improvement

The main duties are similar regardless of previous experience. Doctors with less experience in palliative medicine will receive appropriate supervision and support to undertake all aspects of the role safely and confidently. Ongoing professional development and education will be actively supported.

At Bardet-Biedl Syndrome UK (BBS UK), we are dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by this rare genetic condition. Our charity provides specialist support services that help children, young people and families feel informed, supported and able to navigate complex health and care systems, working in partnership with NHS Highly Specialised BBS Clinics.

We are seeking a compassionate and organised individual to join our Clinics Support Team as a Patient Liaison Officer (PLO). This role offers a unique opportunity to deliver charity-led support within specialist paediatric clinics at Great Ormond Street Hospital, working alongside NHS multi-disciplinary teams while remaining part of a close-knit and supportive charity team.

About the Role

As a Patient Liaison Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring families feel prepared, supported and heard before, during and after their clinic appointments. You will provide emotional and practical support, advocacy and system navigation, helping families to understand their care and access appropriate support, while referring more complex casework to BBS UK’s specialist Advice Service.

You will:

• Support families before, during and after NHS Highly Specialised BBS clinic appointments

• Facilitate clinic attendance by preparing families for appointments, addressing concerns and helping to reduce “Did Not Attend” rates

• Attend specialist BBS clinics at Great Ormond Street Hospital, and St Thomas' Hospital, providing on-the-day support to families and clinicians (Approximately 2-4 days per month)

• Act as a key point of contact between families and clinical teams, supporting communication and information-sharing

• Provide light-touch advocacy, information and signposting in relation to health, education, social care and local authority support

• Identify unmet needs or emerging issues during clinic interactions and refer families to the BBS UK Advice Service for specialist advocacy and follow-up

• Support families during key transition points, particularly the move from paediatric to adult services

• Maintain accurate and confidential records using BBS UK’s CRM system (CharityLog)

• Contribute to service evaluation, quality improvement and the wider work of BBS UK

This is a home-based role with attendance at clinics in central London and occasional travel to other clinic sites and BBS UK events. Travel expenses will be reimbursed in line with BBS UK policies.

Who We’re Looking For

We are looking for an experienced individual with a background in supporting children and families, who can work confidently in a clinic-based, people-facing role.

Essential Experience & Skills

• Experience working with children, young people and families, ideally within health, social care, education or the voluntary sector

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage sensitively with families experiencing distress or uncertainty

• Experience providing emotional and practical support to individuals with complex or long-term conditions

• Ability to organise and manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively and work independently
