An exciting opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a bereavement counsellor in the award-winning Suicide Bereavement Service, delivered by Mind in Bexley together with partners South East London Mind and South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. The service offers a community resource with open access to adults and young people bereaved by suicide across South East London (Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark). The integrated team provides both one-to-one and group support, with the aim of reducing the risk of further deaths by suicide in this vulnerable group.
We are seeking an experienced bereavement counsellor who can work compassionately to deliver trauma-informed therapeutic support to people aged 13 and over bereaved by suicide. You will have evidence of post qualifying counselling experience, including of multidisciplinary working. You will be non-judgemental, caring, and resilient, with a good understanding of the issues presented by bereavement through suicide.
The ability to adapt your approach to a wide variety of people, being inclusive and sensitive to service users’ cultural and religious backgrounds, is essential. You will need to be able to work with sensitivity, respect other team members, and be open to learning. The role is demanding, so you will need to be emotionally intelligent and able to work within clear boundaries whilst being a reflective practitioner.
The team’s office is at the Bethlem Royal Hospital in West Wickham, Bromley. The successful candidate must be able to attend fortnightly team meetings at the office and be available to provide in-person counselling at least one day per week (either at the Bethlem Hospital or in the Lewisham/New Cross area).
This is a part time role, working days must include Thursdays, with the other days being flexible from Monday-Friday.
We are particularly interested in hearing from people able to work Mondays, Fridays or evenings to meet the needs of the serice.
The role may involve occasional evening and weekend working. You will be willing to work therapeutically face-to-face, by video call and by phone call, in response to client needs.
You will join a close, supportive team who share a passion for helping people cope with the impact of traumatic bereavement. You will have ownership over your work, while being well supported through regular supervision and reflective practice. For the right candidate, this unique role will be deeply rewarding.
Essential requirements for the post:

The Role
What will I be doing?
You’ll be responsible for a range of activities, including:
- Maintaining and updating the full suite of personnel records for staff
- The timely and accurate generation and issue of employment contracts/amendment to terms and associated paperwork
- Overseeing the quality of data held within the HR system and other HR software and offer guidance to users of the systems and administrative support
- Preparing and accurately entering all monthly salary information on to the HR system
- Recruitment support for all Institute vacancies and managing the recruitment process
- Overseeing the probation and induction process for new starters and to conduct new starter induction sessions
- Developing new, and streamline existing administrative processes and procedures
- Generating system reports as and when required
About You...
The role is ideal for someone with good generalist HR experience and up to date knowledge and understanding of key HR legislation and HR systems.
We are looking for an organised and dependable individual who has a proven ability to work with within a small team, and who can communicate effectively with a wide range of people both in written and oral form.
Proven experience of accurate data entry and monthly payroll processes is essential along with previous experience of effectively following administrative processes.

- Build strong relationships with schools, health services, local authorities, commissioners, and community partners.
- Represent the service at local and regional forums, influencing CYP wellbeing strategies.

Qualifications, knowledge, and experience
- More than 2 years post-qualified at graduate or post graduate level Counselling Diploma or equivalent [of two years minimum duration including personal counselling or psychotherapy].
- BACP Registration or Accreditation and/or other eligible Professional Accreditation e.g. UKCP/HPC.
- Strong team-management and line-management experience is required, including demonstrated experience in supervising, developing, and supporting staff.
- A good level of understanding in therapeutic or counselling theory and practice and working to short-term models.
- A sound understanding of child developmental processes, Child Protection and Vulnerable Adult Safeguarding issues and procedures, along with proven experience in safeguarding young children.

Role Overview:
Reporting to the Operations Manager, The Premises Officer will be responsible for the security of the building and the safety of staff and learners, when on duty. The post is to cover evening shifts at the school, 5-10pm during the term dates and various additional hours to cover annual leave out of term dates, including the weekends.

Main Duties/Responsibilities
- Set up studios as required, directed by the Operations Manager or the Curriculum Manager.
- As directed, maintains the security of the School and the safety applying the closed down procedure at the end of each day , students and staff have safe access, unexpected visitors and contractors show identification and sign a visitor book; reports all incidents e.g. security breaches, threatening behaviour, theft to the Operations Manager or the most senior officer on duty.
- Ensure all of the facilities, studios and teaching spaces are prepared ready for each class throughout the School's opening hours e.g. putting away equipment, cables, turning off heaters, clearing studios of rubbish, emptying bins, any cleaning as required during operational hours.
- Assumes full responsibility for the building and the safety of students in the absence of more senior staff, contacting the Key Holder (Operations Manager/Head of School) in the case of an emergency.
- Assists the Operations Manager with minor repairs as required.
- Assists with the delivery, unpacking and storing of stock and stores.
- Operate the school Art Shop and sell a range of art materials to students at designated hours, and refreshments to students in the evenings and at weekends, if required.
- Handles cash accurately, including use of cash tills and credit card payments, maintaining security of cash and stock at all times.
- Assist and contribute to key school events including operational tasks related to them such as setting up exhibitions, and technical support for tutors in using IT facilities for teaching and learning equipment.
- General administrative and operational duties including taking payments from students for fees and materials, using the school MIS system to enrols students, ensuring that all details are inputted correctly to ensure accurate record keeping and check course information on the school website and make necessary updates.
- To carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within the overall function, as directed by the Head of School.

Job Summary
The Senior Partnership Officer will play a pivotal role in building, strengthening and diversifying Bipolar UK’s high‑value relationships, with a particular emphasis on corporate fundraising and identifying strategic, mutually beneficial collaborations that support the charity’s long‑term needs.
