About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Finance Assistant to join our not-for-profit Finance Team. The role is responsible for the day-to-day processing and recording of Library transactions including receipts and payments, effectively, efficiently and accurately.

In this pivotal role, you will:

· Create, manage, and maintain accurate and complete purchase ledger and sales ledger data, and ensure supplier payments are made on time

· Manage entries in the Continia document-capture accounts payable system and Microsoft Business Central finance system

· Maintain a logical audit trail for all transactions

· Assist with preparation and processing of payroll

· Support the Library’s staff and budget holders

About you

We are looking for someone who

· Has demonstrable practical experience of effective purchase/general/sales ledger operations and management of financial processes in a not for profit and/or membership organisation

· Is fluent in the use and understanding of accounting software for medium sized entities/charities (Microsoft Business Central preferable)

· Has experience of supporting payroll processing (preferably in Sage)

· Has experience with Microsoft Dynamics or other CRM software for membership and/or charitable donations data 

· Has demonstrable ability to work both effectively as part of a team, and to work independently

· Is able to plan, prioritise and carry out routine work to a consistent standard, with attention to detail and meticulous concern for accuracy

· Has good interpersonal and communication skills; able to convey information clearly and courteously, in person, by phone and in writing

The rapid rise and use of digital technology have permeated much of society and transformed the way many humans interact. To this end, since mid-2024, HFF has established and will continue to grow a multi-year research portfolio in the UK and the US on the Effects of the Usage of Digital Technology on Brain Development, Social Behaviours and Mental Health in Children and Young People.  In 2025, we ran our first annual call and recently announced the outcome of these awards on our website.For our second annual funding round in 2026, we recently released an open call for proposals. 

As we continue to build our funding portfolio through annual funding calls, we are now looking for a Senior Funding Manager to join the small HFF Science Team in a permanent role. 

SUMMARY PURPOSE - WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING AND ACHIEVING

The Senior Funding Manager is a newly created role in the HFF Science Team.

You will work with the Director of Research and the Senior Programme Officer to administer the Foundation’s science portfolio of grants schemes, awarded grants and associated activities. You will manage and deliver the end-to-end grant application, review and award processes. You will act as a key point of contact for external liaison relating to the schemes. 

Working with the rest of the team, you will also help to develop and deliver events for Foundation grant holders. The role may require some domestic and international travel, including to meet grant holders for horizon scanning, monitoring and impact assessment purposes.

You may also contribute to the Foundation’s wider portfolio of work, and the delivery of our strategy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Senior Funding Manager, you will: 

• Take a leading role on managing a diverse grant portfolio from pre-application to post-award, ensuring robust due diligence, clear communication with applicants, high-quality committee preparation, supporting good governance and decision-making, and smooth implementation of funding decisions.
• Provide proactive and collaborative funding operations support to the Science Team and other HFF colleagues.
• Lead, coordinate and deliver funding schemes and calls, setting timelines and workflows, and managing all aspects of associated funding committees to enable efficient, well governed decision making.
• Act as a trusted advisor, offering guidance to applicants and colleagues on funding policies, applicant eligibility, assessment processes, allowable costs and best practice.
• Oversee, coordinate and deliver high quality peer review and governance, selecting appropriate expert reviewers, managing conflicts of interest, ensuring timely and transparent assessments.
• Ensure effective post award grant management and continuous improvement, resolving complex queries, assessing change requests, monitoring compliance and progress, and contributing to process enhancements that support high quality funding operations. 
• Partake in monitoring and impact assessment purposes – annual reports, end of grant reports, etc.
• Liaise with other funding organisations, as appropriate, for example, on the operation of joint funding schemes.
• Contribute to the HFF Science’s wider activities, which may include developing and delivering events for HFF grant holders such as a mini conference or workshop. This may require some domestic and international travel.
• Contribute to the Foundation’s wider portfolio of work, including drafting and providing information for papers for meetings of the HFF Trustees.
• Perform any other duties that might be reasonably expected, and which are commensurate with this level of post.

The Role:

The Donor Engagement & Communications Lead will creatively bring together the right people, information, and messaging to demonstrate the impact of philanthropy and partnerships at the Festival, and deploy appropriate strategies to maximise donor satisfaction and retention.

Able to write and develop content for a range of donor constituents on a variety of artistic forms, they will ensure fundraising is integrated into communication channels at all levels, and that frontline fundraisers on the team are equipped with the materials and content they need to grow and maintain fruitful donor relationships.

They will work closely with fundraisers and colleagues across the Development team to lead and manage the donor recognition and stewardship programme, as well as develop reports, updates and activities that connect supporters directly to the impact that they enable.

The Donor Engagement & Communications Lead will also foster productive internal relationships, particularly with colleagues in the Audiences department, to develop content and materials which articulate the Festival’s fundraising priorities and outcomes.

We’re looking for experienced social media and communications professionals to join our freelance moderation team.

Our moderators support a range of charity partners, working across always-on activity as well as high-profile campaigns and appeals. You’ll act as the voice of each organisation — engaging with supporters, answering queries, and ensuring conversations are managed safely and effectively.

This role is well suited as a flexible, additional source of income. Most of our moderators are freelancers or consultants working alongside other roles.

Working pattern

Moderation takes place between 9am and 9pm, Monday to Sunday.

Rather than working in one continuous block, you’ll complete your hours in short check-ins across the day to maintain coverage and meet response time targets.

Each account is allocated a set number of ‘active moderation hours’ per day (e.g. 2-3 hours), which are spread across multiple sessions.

For example, 3 hours may be split into 5-6 check-ins throughout the day.

• Monitor activity throughout the day

• Complete a final check before 9pm

HMC is seeking a confident and capable Community Manager to deliver our community-based 'Wednesday Service' for migrants and refugees. Our Wednesday Service is a multi-functioning hub, offering a warm, welcoming space for appointments and activities, and has long been the heart and soul of HMC's service.

We are seeking an Access to Justice (A2J) Coordinator to coordinate the provision of vital diagnostic immigration advice for vulnerable migrants. The role will coordinate the diagnostic advice appointment pathway from start to finish. This includes:

• Receiving, processing and triaging new enquiries for support
• Working with the Immigration Team to identify appropriate cases to be offered diagnostic advice
• Coordinating advice appointments with specialist external advisors and confirming the appointment details with the person receiving advice
• Disseminating written advice notes from the Advisors
• Coordinating follow-up actions, including referral into HMC’s Immigration Team for casework support (approx. 40% of people who access diagnostic advice are provided with onward support by HMC) or providing appropriate signposting for those we cannot offer long term support.

This post revives a dedicated Access to Justice Coordinator role within HMC’s structure, to support the newly funded provision of diagnostic immigration advice in Hackney.

Working closely with the Creative Lead and wider Communications team, you will manage end-to-end creative workflows from briefing and planning through to delivery, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on brand, and to a high standard.

You’ll coordinate designers, copywriters and external suppliers, manage project timelines and resources, and act as a key link between internal stakeholders and the creative team. This is a fast-paced, collaborative role that requires strong organisation, attention to detail, and the ability to balance multiple priorities effectively.

Beyond project delivery, you’ll also support internal communications, help maintain key planning tools and systems, and contribute to improving processes across the team.

The Philanthropy Administrator is the backbone of a team that raises up to £18m each year to support young people across the UK. This role brings rhythm, structure and momentum to busy, high‑value fundraising activity, making sure ideas turn into action and plans land smoothly. Your organisation and coordination keep the philanthropy team focused, effective and able to deliver at pace.

You will keep the engine running day to day. This includes coordinating donor events and engagement activity, managing CRM updates and RSVPs, arranging travel and logistics, supporting senior colleagues and keeping finances, invoices and budgets on track. Whether you are pulling together event packs, setting up meetings or making sure suppliers are paid on time, your work removes friction and creates space for fundraisers to do what they do best: build relationships and secure vital funding.

This role has a direct line to impact. When the philanthropy team is well supported, income flows and that income funds programmes that help young people develop skills, confidence and opportunities for the future. You will be part of a collaborative, inclusive team where strong administration is valued, trusted and celebrated for the difference it makes.
