The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in major gifts fundraising and a proven track record of securing large gifts. Mid-Level Giving Officer

Position Objective:

The Mid-Level Giving Officer will support PETA’s impact and growth through their work with an exciting portfolio of mid-level donors typically giving £250 - £999 size gifts. They will be responsible for managing all aspects of cultivating, stewarding and soliciting from this pool of valued supporters, including Vanguard Society Members, to provide a first-rate donor experience while deepening members’ engagement and financial support. The Mid-Level Giving Officer will also work collaboratively with other departments to enhance the mid-level donor experience, identify and refer major donor prospects to the appropriate team members, and ensure that efficient processes are in place.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain a portfolio of Vanguard Society donors and prospects
• Creating engaging donor journeys and presenting opportunities for deeper engagement
• Develop and implement donor-specific plans of strategic communication touches by phone, email and mail. This will include updates on PETA’s progress and victories, messages of gratitude, invitations to events, and asks to donors to increase their financial support. 
• Manage a portfolio of Vanguard Society and mid-level donors, each giving £250 + or with the capacity to make annual gifts at a higher level (at one time as well as cumulatively), including cultivating and stewarding each donor to increase their engagement and giving.
• Solicit and close gifts from assigned mid-level donors.
• Regularly qualify new prospects and donors in their capacity, inclination, affinity, and readiness to give.
• Track and achieve key activity and revenue metrics, while meeting weekly with the manager to report on progress, challenges, and opportunities.
• Ensure that mid-level donors’ database records are updated in a timely fashion. Document pertinent information (meetings, correspondence, notes, etc.) for the purpose of enhancing and developing PETA's donor database.
• Coordinate and collaborate with other teams and colleagues, including legacy, direct response, data, prospect research and communications, to enhance the donor experience and ensure that efficient processes are in place.
• Stay up-to-date on mid-level fundraising techniques and methods used in the nonprofit sector and attend professional-training opportunities as well as weekly coaching and progress reporting meetings
• Conduct oneself in a professional, friendly and truthful manner to donors.
• Perform any other duties requested by the supervisor.
• Acknowledge, thank and recognise donors appropriate to their level of support, and ensure restricted gifts are appropriately allocated
• Work with key PETA staff to find ways to engage donors in our mission, including by meeting supporters face to face or over the phone
• Monitor donors’ motivations and help to contribute to tailor cultivation events
• Maintain a clear understanding of – and the ability to articulate – PETA's objectives as well as details of specific PETA programmes
• Keep all donors in the portfolio up to date on the campaigns and initiatives of PETA and our affiliates
• Document pertinent information for the purpose of enhancing and developing donor profiles, including demographic, donation, correspondence, membership, and personal information for Vanguard Society members
• Maintain and expand knowledge of relevant departmental software (e.g. Raiser’s Edge, NXT, etc) in order to improve communication with donors
• Assist with the preparation and proofreading of mailings and other communications, as needed
• Monitor the acknowledgment process at Woods, working closely with staff to ensure that acknowledgements and welcome packs are sent out efficiently and that queries are passed to us within the agreed timeframe

Prostate Cancer Research

Prostate Cancer Research is seeking a Head of Individual Giving to oversee their individual donor, legacy and in memory income streams, currently raising approximately £800k per annum.

Prostate Cancer Research aims to develop and deliver breakthrough medicines and treatments to achieve a world where people are free from the impact of prostate cancer. The charity believes that it is only through research that we can build a future in which no family will have to fear losing a loved one to prostate cancer. In the last four years the charity has expanded the amount of research it funds by four times.

This is a newly created role to increase the impact of the fundraising strategy, lead on its implementation and set the foundations for the future growth in an area of fundraising where the charity believes there is huge potential. It’s also an exciting opportunity to take the results of a current strategic review on individual giving and take the insight and tools gathered to build the individual giving programme and develop a strategy for people, products and campaigns to grow income.

The charity is seeking a professional with a great understanding and track record of success in individual giving and who is keen to explore new audiences and innovative approaches. You will have experience in executing acquisition, retention and growth strategies and of achieving significant income growth through individual donations, in memory and legacy income streams. THE ROLE
The Contracts Manager will join our Operations team to represent the Woodland Trust locally, supporting a diverse portfolio of sites within North England, in line with the Trust’s standards and ensuring the safety of our colleagues, visitors, contractors and volunteers. It shall be the Contracts Manager’s responsibility to support Site Managers’ in the preparation and delivery of grant applications, operational contracts and projects including silvicultural operations. 

The Contracts Manager will initiate, develop and project manage new innovative projects within and across the woodlands, working with external partner and a cross-departmental team of foresters, people engagement specialists, communications specialists and funders.

They will identify opportunities to streamline services, develop our contractor base and maximise the income and grant aid potential of work programmes. They are responsible for ensuring that all necessary agreements, mitigations and consents are in place in preparation for the delivery of contracts and in accordance with all Woodland Trust Health and Safety policies and procedures.

This is a 2-year fixed term contract until end of April 2026. A company car will be provided with this role.

THE CANDIDATE
With previous experience in land-based management in the forestry, woodland management, or nature conservation sector, you’ll have experience in writing and reviewing site management plans, budget and contract management, and Health and Safety management.

You’ll have experience in the writing and delivery grant schemes across woodland creation and for specifying, instructing, and supervising woodland management operations. You’ll be experienced in planning, monitoring, and delivering multi-disciplinary projects to time and to budget and in engaging with contractors and suppliers on pricing, implementation, and delivery.

You must have a proactive ‘can-do’ attitude, excellent communication skills, be commercially aware and able to build effective partnerships internally and externally.  You’ll have experience engaging with external stakeholders, communities and volunteers with a collaborative approach. A working knowledge of the operational, ie Forest Works Management of woodlands would be desirable.

A full driving licence is a must have, along with the ability to undertake travel across a wide area, sometimes to remote locations. Occasional overnight stays will be required and you will be expected to live in the region and within easy reach of key sites in North England.

C4WS Welfare Coordinator Advert 2024:

C4WS Homeless Project (registered charity, no 1189622) which provides support to people experiencing homelessness year-round, through a well-established winter night shelter in Camden, a lunchtime club, Jobs Club, mentoring scheme, hosting scheme and various other activities. We are passionate about helping people rebuild their lives after homelessness and working towards living independently.

What We Do:

Every winter, we work with a number of churches in the London Borough of Camden who offer their venues to us to run a night shelter. We operate from a different venue every night of the week, and run one circuit, accommodating 16 guests.

We provide camp beds and offer a hot evening meal. Our guests leave in the morning after a hot breakfast, ready to attend activities and meetings in our offices in Euston.

Advice and Support

Whilst the shelter operates seasonally, every winter, our team works year round, dedicated to offering advice, advocacy and practical support. This can be accessed by former night shelter guests, and via our weekly drop in, Friday Club. Guests can also access other services provided by C4WS including lunch, laundry and showers.

The Role:

Our small, dedicated team is looking for a Welfare Coordinator, to deliver holistic welfare support to all those who access our services. You will work alongside another member of the team to ensure that guests are supported both during and after their stay in the C4WS night shelter to ensure the stability of their move on.

You will possess a passion for working in the homeless sector, supporting those experiencing homelessness to rebuild their lives and ideally have direct and relevant experience of working with this demographic, or similarly vulnerable and/or disadvantaged groups.

As well as providing Welfare Support, you will also be a presence at the shelter for up to two evenings a week during the shelter season (November – March) including weekends, and you will need to lead a team of volunteers to ensure the safe running of the shelter on those occasions.

C4WS is a small charity, that delivers an outstanding service to those who access our support. It is thanks to a wide network of referral partners, corporate and individual volunteers, plus the support of several religious communities in Camden, who we have worked with over the last 20 years, that we can have such a positive impact on a person’s life. You will become part of that network, and learn more about the sector, as well as being focused on the current landscape of homelessness in the Borough of Camden.

Role Purpose

The Community Engagement Manager (Maternity Cover) role will be a critical piece of our Community Programmes team, which provides support to founders at every stage of their startup journey. The Community Programme offering includes a roster of events including panels, masterclasses and workshops, as well as mentoring and coaching opportunities, and peer-to-peer engagement opportunities. We work with an exciting range of partners across the private and third sectors to connect underrepresented founders to networks and capital that will help launch and grow their mission-driven businesses.

We are looking for a driven, process-oriented self-starter who is interested in a role that will expose them to a variety of activities across the Community portfolio. As the Community Engagement Manager, you’ll work directly with the Co-Head of Programmes to ensure the systems we need are in place to support the team to deliver their support offering and that we are constantly learning and evolving our programme offering from Founder feedback and engagement.

You’ll be responsible for developing and delivering programmes and events for the graduate community, as well as contribute to our community engagement strategy – helping us to set up new aspects of our programmes and collaborating with programme managers and coordinators across the portfolio to contribute to a more engaged community of entrepreneurs.

Responsibilities

Graduate Community Engagement

• Maintain the community engagement strategy for enhanced engagement between founders and a more cohesive founder journey across all stages
•  Maintain the end-to-end design and management of the founder experience in the graduate community platform (Circle)
• Helping founders to widen their networks and facilitate connections that can provide critical support and direction via our graduate community platform
• Work collaboratively across the Programmes team to ensure entrepreneurs who engage with Hatch are connected to the best programmes, resources and offers for them
• Maintaining a list of partnership perks for the  community
• Understanding both founder needs and partnership opportunities and coordinate the creation of  relevant resources, content and perks to meet these
• Attend ecosystem events and speak on behalf of Hatch, and engage the wider team in doing the same
• Helping to ensure consistent relationship management and communication with partner organisations

Programme delivery and development

• Reviewing existing insights and conducting research to refine existing and new peer-to-peer programmes for Hatch founders and graduates
• Engaging mentors, experts and facilitators, where applicable, to support with the leadership of peer-to-peer programmes 
• Planning, facilitating and evaluating networking opportunities for founders to build and foster  community engagement
• Developing and managing  support  opportunities for our graduates to increase their access to capital, contracts, and connections
• Working collaboratively with Marketing and Communications team to drive engagement through founder and graduate communication channels
• Managing the content strategy and maintenance of the Resource Hub, to ensure accessibility of content for founders outside of a cohort programme

Systems and administration

• Maintaining the KPI tracking system to record programme founder participation, feedback and learning outcomes
• Feeding into the development of a new CRM system to help us better manage our founder and partner relationships
• Supporting the development and maintenance of our calendar of activities, showcasing engagement opportunities to our founders and the public
• Reviewing and suggesting improvements and innovations  to systems and implementing system changes

Monitoring and evaluation

• Supporting the collection and collation of feedback from volunteers, mentors and founders in order to monitor and improve participant experience
• Working with the Fundraising team to report on Community Programme KPIs, anecdotal feedback, and to support with the generation of case studies, for funder reports and fundraising pitches
• Collecting and analysing relevant data for the resources webpage, graduate community platform, as well as keeping up to date with any relevant tech updates and training required for monitoring the data

Other 

• Gaining and maintaining in-depth knowledge and understanding of Hatch’s work, priorities and future plans and acting as a spokesperson for the charity when required
• Representing Hatch externally at speaking  and networking opportunities 
• Other duties that may be required from time to time as part of a small, dynamic team

Person Specification 

• Excellent time-management and organisational skills
• Comfortable collecting and generating insights from data for reports
• Experience of working in a fast paced, complex environment, working collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders and project managing cross-departmental work
• Exceptional communicator, both written and verbal, and comfortable talking to a wide range of people
• Online community management experience would be desirable
• Creative problem solving skills: always looking for things to improve and suggesting ways of improving them
• Ability to work independently , as well as collaboratively with the wider team, and identify potentially more effective ways of working
• A passion to support and connect underrepresented founders to start and grow businesses that will have a positive impact in the world
• Strong interest in equitable and impactful entrepreneurship – experience as an entrepreneur yourself would be a bonus
• Strong understanding of the entrepreneurship ecosystem across the UK and the needs and challenges of entrepreneurs
