About the role

Join Macmillan Cancer Support as a Senior External Affairs Adviser, where you will play a vital role in shaping and delivering impactful change propositions and external affairs strategies across the UK. Your work will focus on delivering at-scale change for people with cancer, particularly the most marginalised groups. 

Key responsibilities:

• Provide senior-level advice to develop external affairs strategies aligned with Macmillan’s mission. 
• Lead cross-functional external affairs projects that are evidence-based and impactful. 
• Develop and manage relationships with political stakeholders, policymakers, civil servants and healthcare providers. 
• Provide high-quality insight and briefings to senior colleagues on the political landscape, and what the external opportunities and risks are. 
• Anticipate shifts within the external environment and adapt approaches to maintain our relevance and influence. 
• Collaborate with teams to ensure policy positions are strategic and evidence-based. 
• Represent Macmillan at external events, advocating for improvements in cancer care. 
• Coordinate campaigns to influence public policy and funding decisions.

Peer support groups are an essential part of South East London Mind services. They differ from other forms of mental health services support as participants play an active role in creating an environment for each other where they can use their shared experiences to give and receive support.

The Southwark Women’s Forum is a monthly peer support group led by and for women aged 18+ who are resident in the London Borough of Southwark and are experiencing low to moderate mental health needs. Trans women are welcome to use this service. There are two different groups and we are currently seeking a skilled female group facilitator, with lived experience of mental ill health, to lead and deliver the second cohort on the penultimate Friday of each month.

We hope to expand this service, and with the help of a lived experience co-facilitator, you will ensure that it is a friendly and comfortable space for new and existing participants who may feel isolated or lack confidence due to their mental health. To keep the service running efficiently, you will also monitor group attendance, distribute and collect feedback forms as required, and assist the women with any signposting needs. 

Successful applicants will be expected to undergo an Enhanced Level Disclosure and Barring Service check.

The LARC service aim is to provide a service to support people to avoid rough sleeping, and act as rapid move on service for people with history of sleeping rough and move into suitable alternative accommodation. In the rewarding role of Service Manager, you will:

• Oversee the day to day running of the service, support and manage a team across the project.
• Work closely with local authorities, other housing providers, health and other specialist services to identify support for the clients and rapid move-on.
• Provide line management and motivational support to a high performing team.
• Liaise with partner agencies to build and maintain effective relationships to support effective service delivery. 
• Work on site Monday – Friday in Pagnell Street, Lewisham.

About the role

We are looking for a Laboratory Operations Assistant to join the Service Delivery Team.

As a member of the Service Delivery team, you will provide essential, routine support for the research and Science Technology Platform (STP) laboratories based at the Crick.

Working closely with our floor and quadrant managers, you’ll take ownership of the day-to-day maintenance of one of our bustling science floors, with opportunities to support other areas across the institute. Your responsibilities will include managing stock, coordinating the removal of laboratory waste, and helping maintain the highest standards of lab organisation. You’ll also play an important role in handling hazardous materials and assisting with chemical inventory and tracking.

This is a highly collaborative position and you’ll be part of a dedicated team of Laboratory Operations Assistants and will regularly interact with researchers, operational staff, and internal service partners. Strong communication and a proactive mindset will help you thrive in this dynamic environment.

What you will be doing

As a Laboratory Operations Assistant at the Crick, you will be responsible for:

• Maintaining the organisation and cleanliness of the laboratory areas including the removal of waste.
• Assisting with, or appropriately signposting, general and laboratory queries from Science and other stakeholders, using a variety of communications media (email, Slack etc) to ensure prompt resolution of issues, queries and challenges.
• Stock management of laboratory supplies; including stock checking, updating the online/ electronic stock control book, receiving deliveries and assisting with restocking the store areas. Upholding the chain of custody from the logistics team to the researchers, ensuring cold storage items are stored correctly.
• Manage hazardous materials safely and according to protocols, including preparing hazardous waste for safe disposal. 
• Support communal scientific equipment upkeep.

About you

You will bring:

• Minimum of Mathematics, science and English GCSE and/or experience gained in a relevant technical or service provision role
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office. *
• Able to accurately follow work instructions, record information and carry out tasks in a diligent manner.
• A proven ability to work well with a team
• Self-motivated with a flexible approach and a keen eye for detail. Able to work with minimal supervision using own initiative.

• A good communicator, able to deal confidently and diplomatically with a wide range of people at all levels. 

• Ability to respond proactively to contacts in immediate area to ensure provision of service to the laboratories. Able to escalate issues as necessary to Quadrant Manager.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Executive Assistant is responsible for providing critical, executive administrative support to enable the Executive Director and SteelWatch Leadership team to operate effectively. The Executive Assistant will be a vital team member, ensuring smooth operations across executive functions and key organisational processes. We are looking for a candidate with curiosity and the capacity to adapt as SteelWatch continues to evolve. The Executive Assistant reports to the Operations Director and works closely with the Executive Director on day-to-day priorities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

The role is focused on supporting the Executive Director and SteelWatch Leadership team on a number of tasks, not limited to:

Executive Support

• Stay up to date on ED priorities and tasks. Manage diaries, schedule appointments, set up meetings accordingly, adapting to priorities.
• Organise and book travel arrangements according to diary needs, ED needs, and internal policies.
• Arrange and prepare for meetings with external partners, allies, industry experts, donors and industry meetings, handling logistics (timing, location, travel, virtual arrangements) and ensuring advanced preparation where needed.
• Draft supporting materials (e.g., presentations) and assist with minute-taking, ensuring team input.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Location/remote working

• The position is fully remote with some occasional face-to-face time with colleagues, particularly the Executive Director and Operations Director.

The Role

This role will play a crucial part in supporting a wide range of fundraising, marketing, and communications activities for Cosmic. This role requires someone with a genuine interest in working across multiple fundraising areas — from corporate partnerships and community fundraising to individual giving, events and challenges, trusts and foundations, event support for Cosmic led events, and in-memory and legacy giving. You will bring strong organisational, communication, and creative skills to support activity across these streams. In addition, you will collaborate with the Marketing and Communications Manager to develop engaging social media content, enhance brand visibility, and contribute to impactful digital and supporter communications across all of Cosmic’s channels.

Key Responsibilities

1. Fundraising and income generation support

• Working alongside and supporting members of the Income Generation team, gaining a better understanding of the various fundraising and income generation activities.
• Be a key contact for fundraising enquiries.
• Collation and sending of information, including fundraising materials, to potential and current supporters and advising on queries relating to fundraising.
• Support the organisation, planning, promotion, and delivery of fundraising, stewardship and other events.
• Ensure that all fundraising activity operates with the Fundraising Regulator’s guidelines, code of practice and GDPR practices.

• Social media content capture and uploading of activities at all Cosmic led events onto all relevant channels.
• Coordinate social media channels, scheduling posts, monitoring engagement, and identifying opportunities for growth.
• Support marketing campaigns for fundraising events, appeals, and awareness initiatives.
• Work with the Marketing and Communications Manager to ensure brand consistency across all supporter-facing materials.
• Gather stories, quotes and visuals from beneficiaries, supporters, and partner organisations (with appropriate permissions) to promote activities and support to Cosmic.

ISWAN has recently reorganised the management of our helpline services and created this new role, which will be pivotal to further developing our quality service to seafarers. We have seen significant growth in the number and usage of our helplines and now seek to recruit a second Helplines Operations Manager to ensure we have a management structure capable of coping with further growth.

As one of two Helplines Operations Managers, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of ISWAN’s helplines to ensure our services provide accurate information, appropriate advice, and comprehensive support to seafarers and their families.

Brief role description 

You will be supported by the Head of Corporate Development and Partnerships to be creative in how they grow and uplift new income generation across corporate partnerships. You will have an entrepreneurial approach to your work to identify and attract new organisations whilst maintaining excellent relationships with our established partners, focusing on stewardship, renewals and smart uplifts.
