The award-winning ISM is the dynamic, change making professional body representing musicians. With a current membership of over 11,000, the ISM is known for its legal support to its members covering a range of issues from intellectual property and employment disputes to contracts. We are also known for our campaigning work on issues from discrimination to Brexit and AI which can cross over into legal services.
The ISM is now looking for a Director of Legal Services to manage a critical part of how we support our members: namely our legal services. You will be managing our brilliant in-house team of lawyers as well as our external associated suppliers. You will also advise the ISM on business related legal issues, ensure policies and procedures are kept up to date and work closely with the External Affairs team particularly on areas which have a legal element such as the Employment Rights Bill.
The provision of legal advice to our members is a core part of what the ISM offers and it is vital that we deliver gold standard legal services, responding to the needs of our professional musician membership. You will be an excellent but practical lawyer able to manage a great team as well as suppliers and contractors. You will be proactive with strong problem-solving skills, great drafting and oral skills, keen attention to detail and good emotional intelligence.
You will be joining a professional staff team who are based in Bayswater, London. The role is full time, of which at least three days will be in the office.

Your new role

The Pathway Administrators sits within The Green House (TGH) under the direction of the Service Manager and Clinical Manager. They will be part of a busy and friendly team and responsible for supporting children, young people and families with accessing our frontline services. The post holders will be the first point of contact for families and professionals wishing to make referrals to our service. They will lead on allocations to our Frontline Services and respond to Subject Access Requests and Pre-Trial Therapy Notes Requests alongside the Service Manager and Data Protection Officer. It is an exciting time to join us as we establish our new service model, deliver a new strategy and look to increase both our local and national visibility. You will be joining an ambitious team who work tirelessly to improve the lives of children, young people and families who have experienced sexual abuse.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Provide a trauma-informed contact via telephone, email, website contact form, voicemail, or text message for Children, Young People and Families referred to TGH, including self-referrals.
2. Provide information about what support services are available and refer/facilitate access to internal, or external support services.
3. Input Request for Support Forms (Referrals) into the case management system.
4. Communicate closely with clients and keep them informed of any wait times, action taken or referrals made on their behalf.
5. Gather information from other professionals at the point of referral or allocation as advised by the Clinical Manager and Service Manager.
6. Take part in promoting services including talks and training to organisations based in key agencies across Avon and Somerset to support staff, volunteers, and clients to build trust and understanding about TGH, our referral pathways and services.
7. To work with the Service Manager and Clinical Manager to manage and co-ordinate appointments for our services, updating our database and associated spreadsheets.
8. Attend organisational meetings as required and communicate effectively with
relevant colleagues across the TGH team.

About the role
This role is a newly created position working within the Youth Access to Immigration Representation and Advice (YAIRA) project providing immigration and asylum support to young people who are in care or are care leavers. The YAIRA Project was set up by Coram CLC and 4 local authorities – Enfield, Islington, Barnet and Camden - to increase access to representation and advice for children in care and leaving care.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a keen interest in upholding the rights of vulnerable children and young people with experience of the care system who is seeking to progress their legal aid career in the charity sector. The role can be split between working from home/office-based with flexibility as to the balance between the two.
The successful candidate will work alongside a senior caseworker already working on the project and together you will liaise with the local authorities involved in the project to implement an effective referral mechanism for children and young persons in their care and have conduct of and be responsible for a caseload of immigration, asylum and associated human rights law matters concerning children, young people and families referred by the local authorities. You will be expected to provide high quality legal advice, assistance and representation to these clients through legal aid casework.

When not working on the YAIRA project, the postholder may be asked to provide paralegal casework support to the wider immigration and asylum team.
