Job description

Please note that there is a requirement for this role to be worked over four days, with Friday as the non-working day.

The Diocese of Leeds is seeking a dedicated People Advisor to join our team. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the HR needs of the Diocese, coaching managers, and developing a range of impactful HR-related projects. This is a unique opportunity to apply your expertise, helping us champion professionalism, inclusion, and employee wellbeing.

Your Role:

  • Deliver expert HR advice and support to staff, clergy, and parish representatives on various employment matters.
  • Coach and empower line managers to foster a positive employee relations environment.
  • Develop, review, and update HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with legislation and best practices.
  • Lead and implement engaging HR projects aligned with the Diocese's annual service plan.
  • Provide end-to-end recruitment and onboarding support, promoting safer recruitment practices.
  • Deliver training and development sessions for employees, clergy, and parishes.
  • Champion equality, diversity, and inclusion throughout employment practices and leadership relationships.
  • Collaborate with external providers and internal teams to support employee wellbeing and workplace adjustments.

What We're Looking For:

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • Proven HR experience, including policy development, provision of sound HR advice, and employee relations.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and coaching skills to build strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to managing projects and driving initiatives.
  • A willingness to learn and develop knowledge in diocesan employee and clergy practices.
  • Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace.
