We offer support to 16 customers across two locations: Hope House, a 10-bed supported housing facility, and Doddsfield Road, which has 6 floating support flats.

Hope House provides support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, following a shift rota system (staff on sleep-ins receive additional pay beyond the advertised salary). Doddsfield Road offers floating support during working hours.

The team consists of one Contract Manager, one Team Leader, and four Support Workers. Staff collaborate closely with the Slough Community Mental Health Team (SCMHT), and a designated Occupational Therapist works alongside the support staff. Customers also attend Hope College, facilitated by the Slough Mental Health Team, as part of their recovery process and preparation for independent living.

This position presents a valuable opportunity for support workers to gain extensive experience in the mental health sector, thanks to the strong partnership with SCMHT. We have also introduced training directly from SCMHT to help support staff better understand mental health diagnoses and manage crises with our customers on-site.

About this key role
As Policy and Advocacy Lead, you will deliver a bold and evidence-based policy and advocacy plan aligned with St Giles’ three pillars of work: Poverty, Violence & Exploitation and Criminal Justice.  You will also provide strategic advice and support to leadership and executive teams on political and policy developments and ensure our influencing work is inclusive, grounded in lived experience and reflects the values and priorities of St Giles.

We will also count on you to lead the development of policy positions, briefings, consultation responses, and reports, oversee research projects and ensure robust evidence underpins all policy recommendations and to build and maintain relationships with policymakers, government departments, think tanks, and stakeholders.  Leading, managing and inspiring the Policy and Influencing team to deliver high-impact work is also a major aspect of this role, as is collaborating across departments, such as Programmes and Fundraising, to integrate policy work into wider organisational objectives.

We’re currently recruiting full time or part time Mental Health Practitioners to work directly with young people in our schools Mental Health Teams. For this post you need to have a mental health qualification and at least two years’ experience of working with young people. • Support the coordination of various grants processes including the review process, setting-up relevant panels, invoice handling, monitoring and evaluation of the projects and the schemes.

Sounds great, what will I be doing?

This role focuses on supporting a wide range of individuals within and beyond Bromley to develop independent living skills, maintain their wellbeing, and improve their quality of life. The post holder will carry out assessments based on organisational needs, risks, and aspirations to gain a clear understanding of each service user's situation. From this, they will create, implement, and regularly review personalised support plans, working collaboratively with service users and other professionals. Through key working sessions, the role aims to help individuals sustain independence, maintain their tenancy, and build confidence in managing daily life.

The position also involves encouraging service users to engage in activities that promote both physical and mental wellbeing, as well as supporting access to relevant health services, training, employment, and volunteering opportunities. Building positive relationships is essential to fostering independence and financial security. Additionally, the post holder will be expected to liaise professionally with external agencies to ensure coordinated support, while remaining flexible in undertaking additional duties that contribute to the organisation's aims.

How are staff supported to work remotely? 

VoiceAbility has a small number of offices. Employees including Team Leaders are homebased for Administration and meetings will be held online as well as in person in the relevant community.

The Role

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and experienced support worker to join our Young People Support Team based in Hackney. You will provide client directed, person centred support to help young people achieve personal goals and aspirations for independent living, training, employment, and education. About this key role

• Five years’ experience working in charity or related sector

• Successful track record of achieving targets and growth in fundraising teams

• Three years’ experience of line management and of managing a team.

• Experience of creating, implementing, and tracking strategy and securing buy-in 

• A detailed knowledge of fundraising and changing trends in the funding environment
