Community Centres Manager Jobs

The Autism Centre of Excellence exists to improve access to high quality support and remove barriers and stigma for autistic people, but to do this we need to grow our funding.

We aim to raise £5 million over the next five years to increase our reach, impact and activities, whilst creating a sustainable and predictable income stream for the charity. To do this we need to systematically build a pipeline of donors and supporters, to build profile and new relationships. In the short term we need someone who can lead the development of a series of applications to trusts, foundations and other sources of funding to support our priority workstreams.

Main duties and Responsibilities

• Primary focus will be on managing and soliciting income from your own portfolio of high value trusts, foundations and statutory funders, securing gifts of between £10,000 - £1,000,000 to successfully achieve the charity’s ambitious fundraising targets.
• Secondary focus will be on the planning and delivery of first-class Special Events and Major Donor fundraising.
• Create a robust prospect pipeline of effectively researched and qualified funders, ensuring a continued flow of prospects through the pipeline, taking a sales approach to lead generation and the assessment of the warmth and value donors.
• Deliver effective research of prospective and existing donors, which enables us to raise significant income through both new and existing relationships; utilising our networks effectively.
• Implement effective cultivation and stewardship journeys that provides a high-quality supporter experience to your portfolio of donors and prospects.
• Deliver first-class relationship management to ensure excellent ongoing relationships with donors in both a written and face-to-face capacity.
• Deliver exceptional writing skills through proposal and bid writing and day-to-day communication with donors and colleagues.
• Fully understand the charity’s projects and activities to both ascertain their suitability as funding propositions and communicate them in a compelling manner to funders.
• Work closely with operational colleagues to develop compelling and thorough cases for support to inform our research and fundraising strategies.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We have an opportunity for a dedicated person centred Deputy Manager to join the team in Brent. You will be responsible for working alongside the Service Manager (SM) to deliver high quality, trauma-informed services to residents and participants, with a focus on recovery reablement, rehabilitation, and ensuring a psychologically informed environment (PIE). ABOUT THE SERVICE

Synergy, Brent is a Housing Related Support (HRS) Service for a range of vulnerable people who have been or are at risk of homelessness. The age eligibility criteria for the service is adults between the ages of 18 to 60, who are identified to have low/medium support needs. Some of the needs we support are:

• Single homeless between ages of 18 to 60
• Socially excluded individuals
• Ex-Offenders
• People with substance misuse
• Mental Health (Low)
• Learning disability (Low/Medium)
• Women who have come from domestic abuse environments and situations who may need low level support as part of their resettlement following a move on from a refuge or other safe domestic abuse supported accommodation.

OVERVIEW OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

LINE MANAGEMENT/LEADERSHIP

• Provide leadership to employees throughout the employee life cycle. This includes but is not limited to; Recruitment, onboarding, inductions, probation reviews, support and supervision, employee relations, performance, learning and development, staff wellbeing and support, grievances, sickness, disciplinaries, retention and other areas which fall within the employee lifecycle.
• Hold regular, high quality one to ones and team meetings, support effective teamwork and communication. Support with ensuring a culture where constructive challenge is welcomed, and conflict is managed supportively in line with relevant policies and procedures.
• Build and manage effective relationships across the organisation and ensure consistent communication, whilst upholding SIG’s values, policies, and procedures. Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to drive ongoing improvement to the service in line with best practice.

SERVICE DELIVERY

• Support the Service Manager with the day-to-day operational delivery of the service and work directly with colleagues, residents, participants, and other stakeholders to provide a high-quality, holistic service which meets the presenting needs of all relevant stakeholders.
• Ensure service responsibilities and requirements are carried out effectively. This includes but is not limited to; welfare checks, risk assessments, support sessions, safeguarding checks, training and development, and other responsibilities required for effective service delivery.
• Support the Service Manager to ensure the service and team meet and exceed Key Performance Indicators, and work in line with professional codes of conduct.
• In conjunction with the Service Manager, facilitate a program of continuous improvement in an environment where residents and participants are cared for, supported, and have access to resources they need to achieve positive and sustainable outcomes.
• Empower residents and participants to make decisions to take control over their lives, by creating an enabling environment.

RISK MANAGEMENT, INFORMATION MANAGEMENT AND CASE RECORDING

• Follow the relevant risk assessment and management procedures, share any relevant information with partner agencies as appropriate.
• Ensure all case recording, and information is accurately recorded in a timely manner, ensuring electronic records are protected in line with GDPR, and kept up to date and written to a high standard.
• Alongside the Service Manager, champion, and act as a point of reference for safeguarding concerns within the service(s). Ensure all staff attend relevant safeguarding and training and use knowledge to coach and advise the team.

PROPERTY AND HOUSING MANAGEMENT

• Create and manage a welcoming, psychologically informed home environment for residents and participants, ensuring a continuous focus on safety, health, and wellbeing.
• Ensure the accommodation in which residents live is maintained to a high standard, in line with SIG’s property standards and meets all legal and statutory health and fire safety requirements to operate safely, effectively, and efficiently.
• Ensure all repairs and maintenance issues are correctly reported and managed through to completion.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

• Provide support in setting the service’s budget and reviewing monthly management accounts; manage set budgets effectively and ensure resources are maximized.
• Maintain financial management within the service, including but not limited to, invoice management, arrears management, management of petty cash, and expense claims.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

• Contract Management and Internal Auditing; Ensure due diligence is carried out and records are well maintained.
• Administration duties will vary, including operating online systems and ensuring correct processes are followed alongside GDPR and confidentiality.
• Other duties may include but are not limited to, maintaining clean and tidy environments, removing rubbish, ordering supplies, arranging in house events and activities and other general on-site duties.

Other responsibilities than those described above may be required to be undertaken from time to time and will be expected to be performed to as long as it is within the capability and level of the position. 

KEY CRITERIA

What we are looking for:

• Understanding and/or experience of working with people of complex backgrounds, ex-offenders, mental health, substance misuse, challenging behaviours
• Experience of working with and engaging with diverse groups of people from varying backgrounds
• IT Proficiency, including Microsoft Office, and the ability to navigate and learn new case management systems and other types of organisational software
• Understanding and/or practical knowledge of the social and societal marginalisation that can be attached to people with mental health issues, addiction, exploitation, homelessness and within the criminal justice system
• Ability to promote the service and provide outreach-based provision, with an ability to liaise and work effectively in partnership with stakeholders
• Ability to follow organisational policies and process in line with external governance

What we would like, but not essential:

• Previous experience in people management and development
• Understanding, knowledge, and/or practical application of key legislation – Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, Mental Health, Criminal Justice, Social Care, and Housing, and Health, Safety and Environment
• Understanding of Housing Management, including voids and evictions

Literacy Tutor

The Creighton Centre is a local charity with a long history of working in Hammersmith & Fulham, caring for older, vulnerable and disabled people. We tackle problems caused by social isolation and disadvantage by developing and providing programmes that offer people practical solutions and emotional support.

The Learning Disability Outreach (LDO) project needs a Literacy Tutor to teach people with learning disabilities, helping them to improve their reading and writing skills, to enhance their lives and achieve their aspirations. The teaching will be mostly in a 1-to-1 capacity, or with small groups. You will need some experience of teaching literacy skills and a compassionate attitude.

An interest in gardening and educating people in a small community garden would be a bonus, although not essential.

The Mulberry Centre’s vision is to be known and respected by everyone living or working within reach of our services who may become affected by cancer.All the services at The Mulberry Centre are geared towards supporting the physical and emotional needs of someone following a cancer diagnosis or at end of life, including their carers, families and friends who also might have to stop working to look after them. It can be difficult to know where to start and what you are entitled to, but we are here to help them every step of the way. To assist us in this endeavour, we are looking for an experienced full-time Welfare and Benefits Information Lead.  You will assist clients in claiming welfare benefits, grants, and any financial aid that may be available to them. This includes informing them of any financial help available, supporting them with applications and following up on claim as necessary.  Where anyone has been given an end of life diagnosis you will be required to start the application on their behalf. In addition, you will also conduct financial wellbeing assessments in the community and schedule one-on-one application completion consultations with individuals who request your assistance.

This vital role will suit an enthusiastic and dynamic person who has excellent communication skills, being able to deal with complex matters effectively both verbally and in writing.  You will need to understand the issues involved in interviewing people within a time defined period. The ideal applicant will have emotional resilience to deal with people who have experienced cancer or bereavement. About the role 

Smart Works Reading exists to empower all women who need help getting into work. We aim to support 1000 clients with our Interview and Preparation service per year. As such, we require vital funding from Grants, Trusts, Corporates and Foundations to enable us to achieve our mission. We also need support to deliver our annual calendar of corporate events.

We are seeking a Fundraising and Partnerships Manager to join our small and ambitious team. The successful candidate will build a strong pipeline of grant funders, gifts from Trusts & Foundations, and corporate donations, incorporating both core and restricted funding.

The successful candidate will report directly into our Board of Trustees, and work alongside our small staff team, with the objective of maximizing local funding opportunities, expanding our portfolio of grant funders and corporate donations, and attendant relationships, and contributing to a growth in income for the charity. The successful candidate will be responsible for researching and identifying prospective funders and corporate partners, writing and submitting high-quality applications and proposals, and delivering excellent grant management, donation and stewardship updates. They will also work closely with the Events Trustees to deliver an exciting calendar of corporate and community fundraising events, and lead our annual sport challenge, Cycle for Smart Works.

We are seeking a proactive self-starter, with experience in philanthropic fundraising and relationship management, excellent written communication skills and demonstrable attention to detail. Duties and responsibilities

• Building excellent relationships and networking with corporate and community partners, generating awareness and income of minimum £165k for the centre across grants, events and corporate fundraising.
• Maintain database with relevant income tracking and pipeline data to facilitate regular KPI and financial reporting to the Board of Trustees. 
• Lead our annual signature corporate challenge - Cycle for Smart Works - to target income c. £25k, including managing the project locally from planning to delivery, identifying and onboarding corporate and community participant teams and stewardship of the programme.
• Securing one-year and multi-year grants from a range of Trusts and Foundations, including traditional grant funders, local charities, family foundations and corporate foundations to meet income targets c. 100k. 
• Researching and identifying prospective grant funders, and corporates, donors and individuals who could support Smart Works Reading, and building and maintaining long-term relationships.
• Writing high-quality grant applications, working collaboratively with the Chair of the Board and staff team to deliver creative and compelling proposals for both core and restricted funding.
• Maintaining strong relationships with current and prospective funders, including the preparation of impact reports and sharing regular updates on grant management.
• Maintaining an accurate data record of pledged, banked and prospective income for the Reading centre, working in collaboration with Smart Works Charity to maintain local management accounts. 
• Representing Smart Works Reading to a diverse range of stakeholders and audiences to generate income and raise brand awareness within the local community.
• Support the Events Trustee with stewardship of fashion and retail partners, including venue and catering supporters, as well as our corporate partners supporting the charity.
• Support the delivery of our signature fundraising events, including high-end supporter events and fashion sales, where the Events Trustee manages the project from concept to execution and ensures income targets are met.
• Developing and implementing new initiatives to raise funds for the charity, for example, Fashion Club, following other centre’s initiatives. 

Personal specification 

Essential Criteria 

• Experience generating income of at least five figures from philanthropic income. Demonstrable experience securing corporate partnerships.
• Experience in cultivating strong and positive relationships, both internally and externally, with multiple and senior stakeholders.
• Presentation skills, to prospective partners and able to tell the Smart Works story. 
• Experience working with grant applications and/or funding proposals, presentations, and utilising arrange of tools to identify new funding opportunities.
• Excellent written communication skills and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to prepare high-quality funding proposals and reports for different audiences.
• Target driven with excellent organisation and time management capabilities, demonstrating an ability to prioritise and work to deadlines.
• Creative and proactive approach to problem-solving, with an entrepreneurial attitude towards fundraising strategy.
• Passionate and enthusiastic about the mission and vision of Smart Works, demonstrated through clear initial research and understanding in the written application.

Responsible for:  CHWS Crisis Support Workers and Recovery Space Workers

Hours: 36 hours per week (full time) worked within a 7-day rota (7days a week/365 days a year) The current service operates a daytime service, 9.00am – 6.00pm and evening service 3.00pm – 11.00pm

(This will include weekend work, approximately one in three weekends)

Location: Main place of work will be Fairfield House, 10 Altyre Road, East Croydon.  Some of the team will be based at Croydon Health and Wellbeing Space at the Whitgift Centre, Croydon (and other locations that may be used in the future) and the Outreach Worker will be predominantly working from the Community Hubs around the Borough.

Mind in Croydon is a charity concerned with the welfare of people with mental health problems living in the London Borough of Croydon and the surrounding areas. Mind in Croydon delivers Mental Health Transformation Program services alongside Croydon BME Forum, these include Croydon Health and Wellbeing Space and Mental Health Personal Independence Coordinators. Other services include Recovery Space, Advocacy, Active Minds, Carers Support, Peer Support In-Reach, Social Networking, Counselling, and an Information Service.

This exciting role will manage the provision of a non-clinical Recovery Space (crisis café) funded by South London Partnership Commissioning. This project operates in the day and evenings, people are referred by our Trusted Assessors in various Teams such as Croydon University Hospital, Psychiatric Liaison, Assessment and Liaison, Croydon College, Home Treatment Team and others.

The aim of the service is to divert people, who would be better supported elsewhere, away from Accident and Emergency (A&E) and towards services that can support with their immediate crisis within the Borough of Croydon. The Recovery Space Service Manager leads this service which is non-clinical but a warm and welcoming setting to support and hold individuals during the day and evening. The Recovery Space service referrals will not be accepted after 10pm for attendance at night.

The role will work closely at senior operational level with external partners, clinical, commissioning, and voluntary sector organisations to plan, develop and promote the highest quality service. They will manage a team of nine staff, three are Crisis Workers, operating a day service, one outreach crisis worker also operating during the day and five Recovery Space Workers in the evening.  The role will need to produce reports, develop, and implement policies and procedures in line with best practice and to ensure the service is making a difference to people’s lives.  The role will work with other service managers including those managers within the Transformation services to ensure a One Team approach to provide an effective and efficient service for clients.

• u  To be the Health and Safety Officer for YMCAES to ensure that the organisation complies with all current legislation and to encourage good practice throughout the YMCAES. 

• To be responsible for ensuring all risk assessments are up to date and accurate:
•   to carry out regular building risk assessments
•  where necessary support and advise staff in completion of risk assessments
•  to ensure fire risk assessments are carried out in accordance with legislation and good practice
•  To be responsible for the maintenance of YMCA buildings and sites. Including preparation of cyclical maintenance plans and to arrange and supervise necessary major works to be scheduled and safely carried out in accordance with the project plans. 
• To be responsible for managing the online maintenance system (Pyramid) ensuring accurate recording and reporting of:
• daily reactive maintenance tasks
• planned and cyclical maintenance tasks
•  all regulatory building compliance requirements.
•  To manage YMCAES building contracts and to comply with the Accepting Contracts and Procurement policies and procedures. 
• To be responsible for the compilation and upkeep of the preferred provider list of contractors.
• To put in place and manage a call out system for managers to respond to any emergencies relating to buildings.
•  To be responsible for all ground maintenance including management of a ground maintenance worker and/or external contracts. 
• u  To maintain the fleet of vehicles owned by YMCAES, including insurance, tax, MOT, fuel and maintenance.
•  To support HOCS for responsibility of all insurances required by the YMCAES. Ensuring compliance with legislation and efficiencies and effectiveness of all policies. Also, to ensure that necessary inspections and certification of lifts and other equipment are carried out as per requirements of insurers and current legislation.
• To provide the CEO and Head of Housing with advice and guidance around technical and regulatory requirements on YMCA property developments and acquisitions of new buildings.

 To work with the HOCS to prepare a budget for central costs (buildings and vehicles) and to manage this budget through the year. 

To prepare and present a report to the quarterly Governance and Risk Committee which has a remit for overseeing the organisational risk management framework, incident reporting and regulatory compliance. 

•  Any other duties are required to be performed within the grade and renumeration of the role.

DESCRIPTION

Job Purpose:To manage the facilities and services that support the core functions of YMCA East Surrey (YMCAES), including maintenance across multiple sites.

New Horizon Youth Centre has been commissioned by the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) as part of an Alliance with Safer London, St Giles Trust and the Anna Freud Centre to deliver on their Children and Young People’s Violence and Exploitation and Reduction support service. The commission will run from June 2024 for three years. As part of this, an additional service will be set up within the NHYC Youth Justice team specifically to deliver on the Alliance contract. The Services Manager will be the key operational lead for the Alliance, and oversee successful delivery of housing casework services to young people fleeing violence and exploitation who are referred in. You should have experience of working in services that support young people fleeing violence or who are impacted by the criminal justice system, and have a solid understanding of housing options for young people under 25. You should be exceptionally well organised and have excellent partnership management skills.

The Women’s Centre Cornwall has grown from its early roots as a Rape Crisis Centre into an innovative, award-winning feminist organisation which provides a wide range of services for women and girls in our communities. Our work with survivors of sexual and domestic violence is our core specialism as we believe that there can be no real gender equality without a complete cessation of violence against women. In addition, we provide community-based activities across Cornwall and support women ex-offenders across Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and HMP Eastwood Park in Gloucestershire.

 PURPOSE

We are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Training Manager to oversee the planning, design, delivery, and evaluation of our annual training initiatives. Collaborating across teams, she will identify needs, develop programs, and ensure staff and volunteer development across the organisation. The role involves creating engaging materials, using innovative methods, and monitoring program effectiveness. Aligned with organisational goals, the Training Manager will foster a culture of learning and inclusion, contributing to a skilled and motivated team dedicated to advancing the Women’s Centre Cornwall’s mission of empowering and supporting women in the community. RESPONSIBILITIES 

• To review all existing training, update material and improve the organisation-wide training provision.
• Designing, organising and promoting a range of high-quality courses for staff and volunteers across the organisation.
• To deliver and facilitate TWCC training programmes, both internally and externally.
• Line management and supervision of 2 Training Coordinators, motivating and supporting them to meet their objectives.

Your experience of relationships development and management will help with developing new schools as well as supporting existing school relationships. Katherine Low Settlement has worked with older people since its conception in 1924.They are a core part of the community that we continue to work with. Our services include an Older People's Lunch Club, Contact Club, T’ai Chi for Elders, exercise and social sessions, and support online.

Key Objectives for the Elders Core Service Manager Role:

• Communication: Oversee communication for the Core Programme, including newsletters, activities calendar, annual reports, and social media platforms.
• Meetings: Attend meetings on behalf of the Core Programme as required.

• Budget Management: Manage project areas to budget and maintain financial records as agreed with the Head of Programme.
