Role Overview:
The Head of Marketing & Sales plays a pivotal role in driving the organisation’s growth. You will develop and execute multi-channel strategies delivered across the funnel from enhancing brand visibility and generating leads, nurturing leads to conversion, right the way through to supporting customer retention and advocacy. This varied role offers the opportunity to expand market reach with our current services, as well as helping launch new products into existing and untapped markets, while delivering a strong RoI.
As well as being a commercial and strategic leader you will need to be a hands-on problem solver, ready to roll your sleeves up to support a small team to deliver where needed. You will be pivotal in ensuring we achieve our mission and deliver impact for post-16 students.
You will report directly to the Chief Revenue Generation Officer who leads the revenue team, comprising of digital marketing and content specialists as well as membership support staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Membership engagement and growth: Developing and executing strategic marketing and sales strategies to drive member engagement, growth and retention with our flagship membership and subscription services.
- Brand positioning and visibility: Ensuring we have a powerful brand that punches above its weight to increase market share, drive competitive advantage and to position the organisation as a thought leader within the sector.
- Marketing analysis and segmentation: Conducting market analysis/research within existing and untapped markets to uncover insights to segment audiences and tailor marketing messaging and activities effectively to drive conversions.
- Digital marketing: Overseeing digital marketing strategies, including website optimisation, email marketing, search marketing and social media marketing to drive traffic and conversion across the funnel stages.
- Content and creativity: Oversea content strategy and creation across various formats and channels, ensuring innovation and creativity to stand out in a crowded market.
- Data-driven decision making: Using analytics to test strategies, measure results and generate insights in order to iterate and improve performance, tracking key metrics and leading the team to deliver and report against agreed KPIs.
- Budgeting and resource management: Tracking spend, ensuring cost effective allocation of resources and reporting on RoI.
- Leadership and collaboration: Leading and mentoring the team to perform against growth and revenue targets as well as collaborating with other departments to ensure a unified approach.

Purpose of the Role

Digital Marketing

- Set up digital advertising campaigns through Meta, Google Ads and other platforms

- Monitor social media communications (both comments on posts and direct messages) and respond in a timely and appropriate manner.
Design & Brand
- Be a guardian of the ArtsEd brand, ensuring correct and effective use of our branding and house style both internally and externally.
- Ensure all digital information is accurate, up to date and relevant.
- Ensure ArtsEd embraces and celebrates diversity and inclusion through all digital marketing touchpoints.
- Develop and manage image library including liaising with relevant staff to select images, co-ordinating in-house photography and film requirements, up-dating plasma screen and fulfilling external requests for images.

Graphic Design
- Create print and digital advertising material using Canva or similar software.
- Design and create in-house digital signage and support the Marketing Officer where needed.
- Support the print production process, liaising with printers and publications, proof reading and adapting print collateral as required.
Recruitment
- Lead on the implementation and delivery of a robust digital marketing strategy to optimise student and pupil recruitment across the whole organisation. This will include:
- Building on existing digital activity to maximise its reach and impact against all of our target audiences, including digital and associated print advertising.
- Managing an associated programme of recruitment focused events and activities, both virtual and face-to-face, to raise our profile and to maximise our enquires, registrations, applications and acceptances across all of our activities.
- Supporting the relevant teams in the delivery of this programme, which will include existing activity e.g. Day School and Sixth Form Open Days, degree audition days and our outreach programme.
- To programme our email marketing conversion communication using software Mailer Lite/MailChimp
- Overseeing the production of all marketing collateral.
Social Media
- Overseeing the planning and delivery of a social media plan that aligns with and enhances all strands of the marketing and communications strategy
- Create engaging and content drive social media assets.
- Oversee and a schedule the delivery of day-to-day social media content
- Work with the marketing officer to Launch as short form video content strategy for all platforms with aligns with the Marketing and organisations strategy.
- Be the expert in understanding movements regarding social networks ensuring ArtsEd has a presence and brand building content on the right platforms.
- To have responsibility for all digital advertising, including social paid adverts.
Website
- Manage through line managed staff all aspects of the ArtsEd website, ensuring that it remains relevant to all users at all times. This will include:-
- Ensuring factual content is kept up-to-date, imagery and video is regularly refreshed and that the overall site reflects ArtsEd’s unique offer.
- Identifying opportunities to create and update brand focused content
- SEO
- Analytics
Market Analysis/Planning
- Review and analysis of data to identify competitor tactics, market trends, new opportunities and challenges.
- Ability to understand different audiences and relevant content to ensure successful conversion rates and enhance the student and stakeholders experience.
- Explore new methods for collection of data and how this can be used to improve recruitment processes
- Complete quarterly digital impact reports
- Measure and report performance of all digital marketing campaigns and assess against goals (ROI and KPIs).
- Implement regular surveys of students and staff, collecting quantitative and qualitative material to support marketing and communication campaigns.
- Stay up to date with the latest trends and best practices in online marketing and measurement.
- Shape outcome based on data.

The Directorate operates as an in-house agency providing consultancy, creative generation, and managing all marketing across all channels and platforms.
Key responsibilities of the Head of Marketing:
- The core responsibility is to lead and deliver against all marketing objectives across the organisation – this includes working with Fundraising, Evidence and Policy, Commercial and Membership & Volunteering Directorates to develop strategies, activities and marketing communications. The role is very varied with good opportunities to generate creative solutions across our channels, including website, email, app, events, PR, magazines and social media.
- We are also implementing a number of new initiatives for the charity including revising our Vision, Mission and Values, plus developing a new brand proposition. This will be rolled out across the year and will require the Head of Marketing to work closely with the Director of Marketing & Digital and the CEO to implement this. We are also working on a new website to launch under the new brand proposition in early 2025 – the content and activation of this falls under the remit of the Head of Marketing, with the Director of Marketing & Digital supporting on strategy, and the Head of Digital providing all delivery.
Essential experience, skills and knowledge required for the Head of Marketing role:
- More than 10 years Marketing and Communications experience with at least three years at senior management level

Reporting to the Head of High Value and Legacy Fundraising you will:
Key Responsibilities
• Manage the development, delivery and implementation of the Legacy Strategy to deliver sustainable long-term growth
• Lead the Legacy and In-Memory team to maximise Legacy & In-Memory income for Sue Ryder and ensure an excellent stewardship and supporter experience
• Be able to interpret and act on data insight and produce robust reports about legacy income and the legacy pipeline
• Work with colleagues to ensure excellent stewardship is followed through in the Charity’s administration of legacy gifts
• Take the lead on the annual planning budgets, forecasting and variance reporting on monthly management accounts for Legacy and In-Memory Giving
• Keep abreast of the latest trends and innovations in Legacy and In Memory Giving
• Plan and lead innovative marketing campaigns including using digital channels
• Lead and manage the promotion of Legacy & In Memory Giving, working closely with colleagues in the care centres and across the organisation to promote a Legacy culture and drive growth across the legacy pipeline
The successful applicant will bring:
• Extensive Legacy & In Memory fundraising experience with a minimum of two years at manager level
• A track record of delivering innovation in generating income from Legacies
• Experience of planning, implementing and monitoring large budgets to agreed deadlines
• Experience of leading, inspiring and empowering colleagues to promote legacies and deliver excellent results
• Excellent communication skills – written and oral with the proven ability to communicate with persuasion and credibility
• Excellent Marketing skills to deliver growth from consumer marketing across multiple mediums including digital
• Experience of managing and motivating advertising/marketing agencies to deliver exceptional results
• The ability to analyse data and produce detailed reporting on campaigns and performance
• A thorough understanding of the Legacy Administration process and ILM standards
It is essential you are educated to degree level or have direct sector experience of Legacy Fundraising at manager level for a minimum of two years.

The role of the Senior Digital Marketing Executive is to ensure we provide a great supporter experience to any person, company or organisation who donates to the Epilepsy Society and to help the fundraising and marketing teams increase our number of supporters and fundraisers through digital acquisition.
As part of the Charity’s in-house marketing agency, you will support in responding to briefs from other departments and work closely with their teams to create and deliver marketing plans which deliver on revenue and strategic priorities. The postholder will be responsible for a range of tasks to support the efficient and effective running of a fundraising and marketing team dealing directly with donors at all levels to ensure they have the best donor experience. We need someone to help us to reach new people online, drive income and build an enhanced online supporter experience.

About you:
We are looking for somebody with extensive experience of working in a national media or PR team, ideally within a charity. You will have significant experience of managing reputation management issues along with supporting governmental lobbying and influencing and affecting change in policy.
Experience of delivering pro-active PR campaigns with an excellent understanding of the media and experience of managing external PR agencies. You will be a highly proficient writer with the ability to direct and manage projects with multiple stakeholder involvement..
Key Responsibilities:
· Develop and lead a national PR strategy for Sue Ryder, with the aim of supporting income generation and increasing public understanding of the charity and measured against KPIs
· Manage and lead a responsive and pro-active national PR team which operates an out of hours service

· Work to position Sue Ryder as an expert commentator on end of life and bereavement care within the national media
· Manage reputation management issues with the support of the Head of PR
· Manage our current roster of celebrity ambassadors and deliver against a celebrity outreach strategy to bring additional high profile supporters on board.
· Manage the retained PR agency ensuring that projects are delivered on time and on budget and achieving agreed evaluation metrics.
· Line management of the Case Studies Manager, National PR Manager and National PR Officer
· Develop and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues across the organisation, including members of the executive leadership team.
· Manage the day-to-day reporting against the PR departmental budget

Sue Ryder’s specialist teams are there when it matters, from caring for those with a terminal illness to helping others manage their grief. They provide expert care to people at the end of their lives whatever their health needs and do this from their seven specialist centres and in people’s homes. They also offer bereavement support nationally as well as campaign for change so that everyone who is approaching the end of their life or grieving has access to the right support, at the right time.
This is an exciting and integral role at Sue Ryder who are seeking an experienced legacy and in memory fundraiser to lead a programme that brings in c£7.5-8million a year. You will develop and implement an innovative fundraising strategy that is focused on sustainable growth and providing exceptional stewardship.
Legacy and in memory giving are both priority income streams for the charity; you will work across the charity to inspire and empower colleagues to promote these income streams among supporters, service users and their loved ones.
There are some exciting projects and campaigns on the horizon to get involved with, including a big campaign in the autumn and working with a brand agency to review their fundraising proposition.
About the role
As Senior Legacy and In Memory Manager, you will:
- be responsible for legacy and in memory income of between £7.5-8million a year;

In this unique and exciting new role you will lead, manage and deliver high-level effective campaigns within a commercial environment. · High level of technical skills and ability including use of marketing automation tools – ie. CRM systems, Google AdWords, SEO, analytics packages inc Google Analytics 4, and ad management platforms
· Ability to interpret data insights, conduct A/B testing and make data-driven decisions to optimise campaign effectiveness to achieve goals
