We are looking for a Finance and Payroll Officer to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Finance and operations, this role will ensure that appropriate financial processes and systems are followed and developed to support our charity’s sustainable growth and safeguard our financial health. The Finance & Payroll Officer will ensure that financial tasks and transactions are undertaken in an efficient, effective and timely manner and, importantly, that relevant financial information is provided to keep the Senior Leadership Team informed to make the best decisions for the charity. The role will also cover responsibility for all payroll operations, ensuring that all payments are accurate and on time and that appropriate and accurate information is provided to the Director of Finance & Operations, HMRC, pension providers and other external bodies. We are looking for a confident and experienced individual to join our supportive team. Previous charity finance knowledge and Xero is helpful but not essential, above all we want an individual to be tenacious, curious, diligent and show strong initiative.

About the role

This role is responsible for managing and developing the charity’s portfolio of Trusts and Foundations, securing significant gifts and growing the long-term potential of this portfolio (target for 2024 is £378,000). There are no direct reports, however the successful candidate will be expected to work closely with Senior Management Teams, other departments and stakeholders to build and develop cases for support to help fund our much-needed work.

The successful candidate will utilise their expert writing skills to shape those cases for support into compelling, high-quality proposals and reports.

Being able to build relationships with a wide range of audiences including funders is key. Inspiring them to support kidney patients across the UK and engage with the kidney community, enabling them to tell their stories and better communicate how larger Trust grants can make a real difference for people with chronic kidney disease.

A dynamic, self-motivated, ambitious and pro-active fundraiser is required for this role, demonstrating enthusiasm for the projects and services we are seeking funds to support.

About you

The ideal candidate for this role will have experience and a proven track record of successful income generation and delivering against targets.

You will have demonstratable experience in researching potential Trust funders, submitting compelling proposals, securing funding and project managing successful bids through to completion of the grant award.

You will also have a background in report writing and demonstrating grant impact whilst being able to build relationships with funders, individual/major donors and senior stakeholders.

Experience of providing excellent supporter care, building mutually beneficial long-term relationships with funders is a must for this role.

Key responsibilities
Research and process management
• Work closely with our Director of Patient Support Services (Patient Grants, Hospital Grants, Advocacy and Counselling) to fully understand our work, and with our Director of Finance to fully understand the costs of delivering our work
• Build strong cases for support, ensuring that you have all the information needed to create compelling proposals and reports for high and mid-value funders
• Research and identify prospective Trusts and Foundations and other grant giving bodies
• Grow and maintain a strong Trust funding pipeline, creating new Trust prospects for our priority funding areas
• Develop our long-term Trusts and Foundations strategy, and agree ongoing budgets and targets for this income stream
• Maintain accurate records including tracking and analysing opportunities, results, and outcomes

Fundraising
• Identify and manage a pipeline of high-value prospects and opportunities which have the potential of delivering five and six figure grants
• Work with colleagues across Kidney Care UK to develop and submit high-value and high-quality Trust and Foundation bids for a range short, medium and long term projects
• Develop relationships with the Senior Management Team and other key stakeholders across the charity maximising every opportunity for cultivation and development
• Plan and organise opportunities for funders to view Kidney Care UK’s work first-hand, ensuring all safeguarding procedures are followed and met.

Reporting
• Compile comprehensive and compelling progress reports to feed back to grant makers in a timely fashion and incentivise continued support
• Alongside the Director of Finance prepare accurate budgets detailing spending of specific grants
• Draw down on any multi-year grants as outlined in our annual budget
• Provide briefing notes and income pipeline on donor activities and potential funding opportunities.

Chief Operating Officer

We have an exciting opportunity for a Chief Operating Officer to join the team in this hybrid-working role.

As the Community Shop and Online Manager for our flagship store in Mere Green you will lead a team of paid staff and volunteers. We are looking for a dynamic and collaborative Membership Operations Team Leader who is passionate about membership operations and looking for a rewarding supervisory opportunity.

The Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) is a membership organisation dedicated to supporting our members to improve the standard of medical practice across the fields of radiology and oncology. Members are the lifeblood of the RCR and we’re seeking a Membership Operations Team Leader that will ensure member’s interactions with us are seamless, easy and professional.

As the team lead you play a critical role in supporting the high-performing Operations team through day-to-day supervision to meet service-level agreements and deadlines. You’ll ensure the smooth functioning of our membership processes, act as the first point of contact for queries from the team and provide an excellent service to our members, doing your part to contribute to the overall success of the RCR.

If you are a team player with solid supervisory skills who is results driven, proactive and inspired by the mission of the RCR this could be the role for you.

What you’ll do:

• Coordinate and deliver the members’ annual renewal processes and manage communications channels and copy.
• Manage the member life cycle and regularly review operational processes, policies and practices, with oversight from the Membership Operations Manager.
• Supervise the Operations Team in line with goals and objectives agreed by the Operations Manager, providing motivation, coaching and direction on a day-to-day basis.
• Be the point of contact to assist and support members of the Operations Team in relation to member escalations and queries.
• Work closely with the Operations Manager to manage and plan current and future workload to ensure the team meets deadlines, provides an exceptional service and reaches service level agreements (SLAs).
• Develop comprehensive and presentable reports to support data-led decision making, renewals tracking, KPI targets or to provide insights.
• Management of budget lines assigned to operational activities to ensure favourable terms are achieved.

What you’ll need:

• Knowledge of membership systems and procedures.
• Experience of managing a high degree of administration processes efficiently.
• Knowledge and experience of using a database and managing data quality.
• Experience in prioritising, planning and managing various different tasks/workloads in order to achieve personal and team targets.
• Demonstratable experience of supervising a team to work effectively and consistently to achieve departmental and individual targets.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Clear and analytical thinker with the ability to exercise sound initiative, judgement and discretion.

As a Community Shop Manager for St Giles Hospice you will lead a team of paid staff and volunteers. You’ll be empowered to make decisions locally whilst working within a supportive framework. You’ll work within and for your local community ensuring that engagement and support is understood and promoted.

You’ll have great commercial skills, an understanding of why customer service is key and want to be part of a successful team. Ideally you’ll have previous retail management experience, be able to demonstrate strong leadership and have the ability to work with and motivate any team. 

Reporting into a Regional Manager you will be responsible for ensuring that your store runs efficiently and delivers a positive financial contribution to the Hospice. You’ll also have the support of a Regional Supervisor, available to provide encouragement and development of best practice.

Head of Lotteries and Gaming

The Head of Lotteries and Gaming will lead the charities Lotteries and Gaming team which has the goal of generating and inspiring support from both new and existing supporters.

Main Responsibilities:

• Develop a clear vision and strategy to deliver sustainable income growth within the Lotteries and Gaming channel.
• Drive and oversee all day-to-day activity around lotteries and gaming, ensuring campaigns are effectively coordinated and that broader teams are enabled to support delivery
• Proactively find ways to increase the impact of the Lottery and Raffle income streams by developing and testing new approaches to player recruitment, retention and engagement
• Take ownership of and oversee day-to-day lottery administration processes
• Working with the Head of Supporter Services ensure an exceptional welcome experience for new supporters and work collaboratively to ensure that ongoing processes for thanking are effective 
• Manage external suppliers ensuring that expected quality and service levels are maintained whilst cultivating a culture of a mutually beneficial partnership. 
• Supported by the Executive Director of Individual Giving and Lotteries ensure compliance of the KSS lottery activities against the charities Gambling Commission license conditions
• Ensure that the operations of the entire income stream, including those delivered by external parties, adhere to guidance and legislation set out by associated regulatory bodies. This includes but is not limited to the Gambling Commission, Charity Commission, Fundraising Regulator and Chartered Institute of Fundraising best practice guidelines
• Partner with colleagues within the broader Income Generation and Marketing and Communications Teams to ensure consistency of the charity’s brand and message within the department’s activities.

About you:

• Experience of delivering income growth within Individual Giving through prize led fundraising, whilst delivering excellent service to all donors.
• Practical experience collecting and using data to monitor campaigns and make evidence-based recommendations
• Experience of using databases to input, update and extract supporter or customer data
• Experience of leading and managing teams, and motivating, and developing team members.
• Demonstrable knowledge of implementing successful Lotteries and Gaming strategies, processes and campaigns.
