When a person or their family member sustains a spinal cord injury it is a life changing experience. They can experience a huge drop in confidence, lose their independence and can feel isolated and that no one understands what they’re going through. Back Up was started by volunteers and our volunteers remain at the heart of everything we do, including shaping and delivering our range of services.
The Volunteer Development Assistant will be the main point of contact for volunteer enquiries and requests and will work across Back Up to understand volunteer needs in order for the volunteer team to grow and support delivery of our life changing services. They will be responsible for the administration and coordination of the annual calendar of volunteer training events ensuring that prospective volunteers feel supported and well prepared, and everything is in place for delivery of high-quality training.
Lived experience is an advantage; but most important is you sharing our commitment to transform the lives of everyone affected by spinal cord injury.

Programme Manager role
We are now looking for an enthusiastic and committed Programme Manager(s) to join our existing Programme Team in September 2024 on a full or part-time basis (6-month fixed-term with potential to extend). As a Programme Manager, you will be responsible for managing the Yes Futures programmes in-person, in our partner primary and secondary schools in North London, Essex, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire & Buckinghamshire.
Main Responsibilities
You will be one of a small team of Programme Managers, dedicated to delivering excellent programmes which make a positive difference to the lives of students. The main responsibilities of the Programme Manager role are:
Programme delivery
- Responsible for the care and wellbeing of all students in your schools on the programme;
- Communicating with parents where necessary during the programme, by email, letter and telephone;
- Planning and delivering whole-group workshops for students;
- Planning and delivering information and celebration events for students and parents;
- Facilitating the in-person and online volunteer coaching team to deliver student coaching sessions. As well as delivering coaching sessions to students, where required;
- Developing business and charity partnerships for day trips;
- Planning and delivering the day trips included in the programme;
- Supporting the planning and delivery of the Into the Wild residentials;
- Implementing discipline procedures, including reporting serious discipline issues;
- Implementing all necessary Health and Safety and Child Protection procedures, including recording and reporting any incidents;
- Ongoing communication with the school and Yes Futures head office regarding student engagement and progress.
Organisation and administration
- School onboarding, including ensuring that dates are planned, students are recruited and parental agreements are returned;
- Planning and organising the logistical elements of the programme (timetables, activities, sessions plans etc) through liaising with Yes Futures head office, school staff, businesses, charitable organisations and the rest of the Coaching team;
- Creation of Risk Assessments, parent letters and programme-related documents for schools;
- Sourcing materials needed for programme sessions, including lunches for trips;
- Assisting with finance and petty cash where required.
Management of volunteer Yes Futures Coaches
- Managing and developing the skills of your Coaching teams (usually 2-6 adults per school);
- Ongoing communication with your Coaching teams, to foster their enthusiasm and commitment;
- Supporting Coach recruitment for future programmes;
- Supporting the planning and delivery of training for Coaches;
- Maintaining accurate and secure records of Coaches’ personal information, absences, sickness and other relevant information.
Evaluation and reporting
- Facilitating the pre-, mid- and end of programme evaluations;
- Oversight and input of key student monitoring data and impact data;
- Debriefing and ongoing feedback collection from schools and Coaches;
- Ensure all work is carried out in an effective and timely manner to support continued high standards of the Yes Futures programmes.
Programme Managers will also be given the opportunity to support with other Head Office functions, including but not limited to:
- Strengthening our strategy, programme design and theory of change;
- Supporting the marketing of Yes Futures to new schools and customers;
- Developing our fundraising strategy through bid writing and other fundraising tasks;
- Establishing relationships with key partner organisations;
- Planning our future Ambassador offer and other pilot programmes.

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to work with Sustrans as part of the Fundraising and Supporter Engagement team as the E-Commerce Manager.
In line with our ecommerce strategy, Sustrans has invested over the past years to increase sales through our e-commerce shop and now needs to find new approaches to maximise revenue.
As the E-Commerce Manager, you will be responsible for maximising e-commerce revenue by optimising the martech stack, improving audience insights, product development/management and promotion through digital and offline marketing channels.
As part of the Fundraising and Supporter Engagement team, you will work closely with colleagues in Supporter Engagement and Giving, Strategic Communications, Finance as well as external agencies and suppliers.

Prospectus is excited to be supporting St Luke’s Hospice. The hospice’s mission is to provide the highest standards of individualised care for people with life-limiting conditions, palliative and end of life care needs, and their families, living in Basildon and Thurrock districts.
Reporting to the Head of Donor Acquisition and Retention (HODAR) and working within the Fundraising team, the Legacy and In Memory Lead is responsible for managing implementation of the Hospice’s legacy (gifts in Wills) and in memory strategies and developing annual delivery plans. The post holder will strategically plan and deliver promotional and stewardship activity, as well as ensuring provision of an excellent supporter experience, to achieve budget net income across these income streams and grow our active support base, including numbers of known supporters who would consider or have already pledged a gift in their Will to the Hospice.
The Legacy and In Memory Lead will work closely with the Individual Giving Lead to ensure appropriate coordination of planned activities involving existing and prospective individual giving, legacy and in memory audiences. The post holder will also work closely with the HODAR to help inform the development of departmental strategies.
The successful candidate will have significant demonstrable and relevant experience of in memory and/or legacy fundraising and developing in memory products. You will have experience in using a variety of on and offline channels to deliver successful marketing campaigns to both acquire and develop donors. You will have demonstrable experience of managing targets and income and expenditure budgets.
This is a permanent position with flexible hybrid working, based 4 days from their Essex offices. The salary is £28750.42 to £37,293.98 depending on experience.

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Sustrans as part of the Supporter Engagement and Giving team. Over the past two years, Sustrans has been successfully diversifying its supporter engagement and fundraising programme, with innovation at its heart.
As the Supporter Engagement and Giving Manager, you will be responsible for generating and increasing sustainable income, leading donor engagement and acquisition efforts, as well as providing exceptional stewardship to existing individual supporters.
This role will be pivotal in ensuring the continuation of the programme and will play a key part in shaping and scaling our products to maximise our impact.
You will lead the team of officers to deliver the planned programme, foster a culture of continuous learning, and provide opportunities for growth and development. Additionally, you will build relationships with colleagues across the organisation to maximise opportunities including liaising with project delivery teams.
We offer true hybrid working, a flexible mix of working from home and occasional travel to a nearby office hub.
About you
You should have significant experience of managing a giving programme through direct mail and digital formats. As well as experience in leading, motivating and managing a team, ensuring the development of the staff. Project management skills are also essential for this role.
We ask that you demonstrate your extensive, proven experience of creating, implementing, and managing successful fundraising campaigns or appeals through online and offline channels, as well as proven experience of managing relationships with external agencies, including direct marketing and telemarketing agencies.
You should also have experience in managing budgets.
You will be skilled in building, facilitating, and maintaining successful working relationships and feel confident in compiling and delivering training on aspects of individual giving.
You should be able to demonstrate your knowledge of relevant fundraising legislation and best practices.

The Transformation and Innovation Unit is a small but critical function within the Fundraising and Supporter Engagement Directorate – looking for new and improved ways of raising the charity’s profile and income, ensuring our communications outputs are aligned and optimised, and fostering a culture of innovation and insight-led marketing. The purpose of the Strategic Planner and Integration Lead is to work collaboratively across the organisation to develop and lead a compelling supporter engagement calendar, oversee integrated campaign development, and support the design and delivery of new products, propositions and growth opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
· Work closely with the Supporter Marketing and Public Fundraising Unit to jointly plan how we are going to deliver our strategic priorities on an annual basis and align our resources behind this
· Develop effective processes to review, plan and prioritise cross-organisation activities, events and goals to create and evaluate integrated communications calendars and messaging
· Establish and manage cross-organisational planning documents, aligning and optimising key outputs and campaigns to increase our consistency, efficacy and impact
· Lead the Directorate to understand and assign priority levels across our portfolio of products, campaigns and change initiatives, to enable increased alignment and focus of teams around strategic goals – leading to increased success and impact
· Develop integrated strategies for Plan International UK’s priority campaigns or appeals, as agreed in the planning process and with the Head of Supporter Marketing and Public Fundraising
· Create compelling campaign themes and propositions driven by brand and audience insight
· Develop effective, integrated briefs for marketing and communications output, and work with the Content Team and external suppliers to deliver outstanding creative work that fits the brief and needs of our audiences
· Manage the mobilisation of key working groups in the delivery of an emergency appeal and support the Director of Fundraising and Supporter Engagement to make rapid and clear decisions
· Work alongside the Digital and Data Strategy Team to regularly review and refresh our audience segmentation and strategy
· Establish an audience-centric communications culture, driven by up-to-date insights on our priority audience groups and their behaviours, attitudes and values
· Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify target audiences, trends, and opportunities for integrated marketing campaigns. Utilise insights from market research to inform campaign strategies and messaging
Person Specification:
· Strategic marketing planning experience, developing and leading multi-year customer communication plans, prioritising key initiatives and ensuring integrated campaign delivery across teams
· Significant experience of using data and insights to inform planning, and knowledge of a range of reporting and measurement tools
· Exceptional inter-personal and consultative skills, with experience of working with multiple stakeholders and a proven ability to work collaboratively to influence, negotiate and secure buy-in
· Knowledge of full campaign process from planning to briefing, creative development and production through to execution and measurement
· Excellent knowledge of audience research, analysis and segmentation tools and processes
· Ability to multi-task and prioritise under pressure, in a fast paced, dynamic communications environment
· Experience of working in insight, new product development, and proposition development, ideally within the charity sector, and able to demonstrate having made a positive difference for other brand(s) through impactful and effective proposition development
· Strong creative leadership and experience of translating a brand proposition for different channels, executions and campaigns

You will build our reach by ensuring our website is search engine optimised and will champion optimisation with all content providers across the organisation. You will build landing pages and microsites for fundraising campaigns across various platforms, complete user experience research to develop compelling user journeys and will evaluate the performance of our digital channels. Occasionally, you will also support JDRF’s paid media campaigns.
An experienced digital professional, you may have worked for a charity before in a similar role. You will be motivated by the latest digital trends and will be familiar with a variety of digital channels. You will be ever-curious, always seeking to improve your skills and adopt new approaches.
