As Head of Philanthropy, your role would be to lead our fund development strategy and our Philanthropy Team to the next level. We aim to achieve even more ambitious income goals by building strong and lasting relationships with high value donors.

About the role

Smart Works exists to empower all women who need help getting into work. We are currently in a significant growth phase, doubling the number of women we support to 10,000 women a year by 2025. As such, we require vital cornerstone funding and are seeking to establish a Major Gifts function, to secure donations from high-net worth individuals, that will enable us to achieve our mission and help thousands of women to transform their lives.

This is an exciting new role that provides an opportunity to build a new major gifts programme from scratch. Supported by the Director of Partnerships, you will work closely with the CEO, Board, and our network of 750 volunteers, to develop a giving strategy that will engage and grow a new pool of crucial supporters for Smart Works.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of existing major donors, as well as conducting prospect research, developing bespoke stewardship materials, and securing five-figure and six-figure repeat gifts.

We seek an excellent communicator, with significant experience in influencing, negotiating and exceeding set targets. Creativity, an understanding of women’s fashion, and knowledge of wealth circles would also be advantageous.

The Fundraising and Partnerships team are based in London. This is a hybrid role, working from a London centre at least twice per week, with the opportunity to work across our North, West and South London centres. Duties and responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Partnerships, the successful candidate will:

• Lead the development and delivery of a giving programme, building a pipeline and carrying out proactive prospect research
• Secure five-figure and six-figure multi-year gifts from major donors, to exceed income targets
• Research and identify prospective major donors who could support Smart Works, through existing warm networks and via outreach to cold audiences
• Work collaboratively across teams and functions to produce creative and compelling propositions and materials to secure both core and restricted funding
• Represent Smart Works to a diverse range of stakeholders and audiences to generate income and raise brand awareness
• Develop cultivation events considering regional hotspots
• Acknowledge, thank and recognize donors appropriate to their level of support and ensure restricted gifts are appropriately allocated
• Manage donor database and reporting
• Support Smart Works’ local centres across the UK and share learnings and guidance to help others build their Major Gifts potential

Skills, knowledge and personal attributes

Essential Criteria

• A track record of cultivating strong and positive relationships with multiple, senior and high-net worth individuals
• Demonstrable experience of making the ask, and an ability to support senior staff, volunteers and trustees to do so
• Interpersonal verbal communication and presentation skills, in order to foster strong relationships with donors and networks alike
• Target driven with excellent organisation and time management capabilities, demonstrating an ability to prioritise and work to deadlines
• Ability to prepare high-quality funding proposals and reports, adapting the communication style for different audiences and stakeholders to maximise impact
• Proactive, ambitious team player, able to work from own initiative
• Passionate and enthusiastic about the mission and vision of Smart Works

• Proven track record in securing six figure major gifts income
• Outstanding written communication skills and strong attention to detail

Richmond Carers Centre, a network partner of the Carers Trust, is a registered charity providing information, support, advice and a voice for carers living and caring in London Borough of Richmond upon Thames.

Helping Carers to Live Well is our organisational aim. We provide a targeted service to young carers, aged 5 – 18 years. Young carers, provide vital emotional and practical support to a family member with a care need including sibling young carers. Their care role can have an impact on their wellbeing, education and social opportunities. We are looking for someone with the skills and ability to offer a coordinated approach in supporting young carers in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames.

As Young Carers Support Worker you will be part of a small, dedicated team which directly deliver a range of services for young carers, including information and advice, emotional support and mentoring, promoting awareness of young carers and delivering a wide selection of group activities, both term-time and in the school holiday programme. Using all your skills, you will work with the young carers’ team to deliver, review, and continually develop services for young carers to best meet their identified needs.

With your proven knowledge of working with children and young people, families, carers or other vulnerable groups on an individual and/or group basis, you will recognise the importance of being client focused and have a commitment to enhance the lives of young carers and their families, including knowledge and awareness of sibling young carers and vulnerable families. You will be able to demonstrate a broad knowledge of young carer’s needs, a wide range of skills in relation to service delivery to support young carers and have a sound understanding of social care provision in both statutory and voluntary sector environments.

You will be self-motivated and positive in your approach to working with both young carers, their families and team members, and have a willingness to embrace our organisational values.  Being innovative and creative, you will identify and implement a range of support mechanisms for young carers, enhancing their wellbeing and supporting them to achieve identified goals.  Strong administrative, time management, IT and organisational skills are essential.  Your ability and willingness to regularly work outside normal working hours is required.

Kingston Charitable Foundation (Kingston CF) is growing - in 3 years we’ve doubled our staff team thanks to a grant from the City Bridge Foundation and to date we’ve awarded over 130 grants to local charities, and community groups, who share our vision to build stronger communities where everyone’s needs are met.  We are a Place Based Giving scheme that is part of the London Funders movement.

Now we’re looking for a confident, creative, and proactive Development Manager to join our small but dynamic Kingston CF family and develop and manage our fundraising development programme for both corporate and individual giving.  This role is the perfect fit for someone with entrepreneurial flair looking to make a real difference - both by helping to raise money for the Foundation’s vital work, and by ensuring our supporters feel valued and supported.

You’ll have innovative ideas to help us to secure new partnerships and nurture new and existing relationships to mobilise local giving. As an experienced fundraiser with a proven track record of securing major gifts or corporate partnerships at the four figure level, you’ll have a can-do attitude and a capability for developing strong networks and contacts.

You will be outcome orientated and a motivated self-starter with excellent communication skills too.

Experience

• At least three years of proven successful experience in major gifts or corporate partnerships fundraising of four figures or more.
• Proven ability to manage and develop diverse relationships.
• Excellent written and oral English language communication skills.
• Experience in writing and delivering persuasive copy for supporters.
• Thorough understanding of data protection and, specifically, UK GDPR requirements pertaining to fundraising and sponsorship work.
• Full understanding of fundraising guidelines the code of fundraising practice.
• Experience of using Salesforce or a similar CRM.

About Kingston Charitable Foundation

Kingston CF launched as an independent charity in January 2021, following eight successful years as local community fundraising project, Love Kingston. About the role:
 

The Philanthropy & Events Executive will support our Philanthropy Lead and Managing Director to effectively manage existing match funding partner (“Champion”)  relationships, and help to develop new Champion relationships. You will support with Champion onboarding, stewarding and reporting as well as research, prospecting, and business development activities.  You will also manage events for high-value supporters, and play a key role in helping us grow the number of Champions through our events, such as our annual Big Give Christmas Party and Philanthropy Lunches. 

About you:

You will be an organised self-starter with exceptional personal and communication skills. As a “tech first” organisation, we’re looking for someone with exceptional digital skills, experience in data administration and management and able to collate, segment and analyse donor information.  You will also have experience with CRM systems (experience using Salesforce would be advantageous) and processes to help manage the journey of our match funding partners (“Champions “). An understanding of the UK charity and philanthropy sector would be helpful.

• Manage the effective delivery of all Big Give events, focused on supporting our existing Champion relationships as well as growing our network of Champion funders

Provision of Administrative Services for Grant Giving Trust

Two interesting and innovative family trusts, one charitable, the other a radical grantmaker unrestricted by charitable status, seek administrative support to field applications, prepare papers for three trustees' meetings a year, minute these meetings and handle follow-up. 

The post is self-employed paying up to £30 per hour, averaging 28 hours per month (so earning in the region of £850 pm), but is concentrated around the meetings. 

Helpful to be based conveniently for meetings in London, but not essential as Zoom can be used. As this is a self-employed post it will be within your own choosing how, when and where you undertake the required work.

Administrative efficiency and good time-management are paramount and IT skills essential but wider interest, involvement and opinions are welcome.

Job description

This role is for someone who would like to learn the skills of, and gain experience in, giving energy advice to householders through working for one of the UK’s leading organisations in this field.

The postholder will be expected to provide strong customer service, working primarily on our telephone advice projects, taking calls on our advice line or making outbound calls. There is also an important administrative element to the role so accuracy and excellent attention to detail are key. The necessary support and training will be provided.

Specific responsibilities

An applicant appointed to the role will be expected to

• Work on the advice line making and receiving calls from people who may need help with energy-related issues.
• Listen attentively to callers (some of whom may be in distress) and respond to their needs in an empathetic way.
• Record client details onto our database accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring data collection is compliant and thorough.
• Use own knowledge to assess help and support needed, ensuring all possible support routes are explored to maximise the benefits to clients.
• Refer clients onto other support organisations in their area as appropriate.
• Identify energy improvements that can be made to clients’ properties and refer to installers who can fit them.
• Help vulnerable clients make applications for grants and switch energy tariffs where appropriate.
• Provide energy advice to people at events and at surgeries.
• Familiarise yourself with and adhere to advice line protocol, processes and procedures.

We are seeking an experienced fundraiser with a passion for our mission to equip our organisation with the financial resources needed to meet our objectives, by growing our charitable income across all funding streams, maximising supporter engagement, and fulfilling fundraising operational duties such as ensuring that we have a database that is organised, up to date and fit for purpose.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Develop deliver and monitor a fundraising strategy for Pecan.
2. Establish systems, procedures, proactive stewardship, and an engagement programme to provide the highest levels of service to Pecan's supporters.
3. Assist with setting up our CRM database, developing and maintaining it to ensure efficient, appropriate data capture and analysis for the purpose of effective stewardship, fundraising and communications.
4. Develop an Individual Giving and Acquisition strategy that drives growth for individual giving across multi-channel campaigns and initiatives.
5. Pioneer and develop a broad range of relationships with churches, organisations, and denominations across Southwark.
6. Management of a part time Partnerships Manager with responsibility.

Essential Requirements: 

1. 3 years charity fundraising experience or evidence of very relatable experience.
2. Experience / understanding of fundraising campaigns.
3. Experience working on either eTapestry, Raisers Edge, Salesforce or Donorfy CRM systems.
4. Ability to connect and network with a wide range of people through a broad variety of communication methods.
5. A good level of general education including GCSE Maths and English plus A-levels or equivalent.
