You’ll be crucial to the development and implementation of an effective events and engagement programme, devising an exciting range of events and activities that will help the students’ union meet membership and commercial targets whilst ensuring a consistently excellent experience for our students.
Armed with bags of enthusiasm, and excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, you will be involved in all areas of event planning and management, from start to finish, playing a central role in ensuring the success of the department and the wider organisation.

Senior Communications and Activities Lead

This role offers the potential for flexible working hours with a minimum of 2 days based in the office.
Meridian Wellbeing are looking for an experienced Marketing and Communications Lead to create marketing plans and to implement its development strategies across the organisation to support the digital delivery platform and physical activities for its wellbeing services. We seek applications from candidates with a proven track record in creating marketing plans focusing on social media, content creation and brand.
The successful candidate will work closely with all service teams to promote and enhance the awareness of our services through regular marketing and communications streams such as the weekly newsletter, promotion of physical activities and workshops, the online development of our digital platforms, and manage the organisation website.

The Role
The Marketing and Communications Lead will be responsible for the development of an effective marketing strategy to encourage participation and utilisation of digital platforms in the community to improve their wellbeing. They will have responsibility to manage the content on the website, social media platforms, promotional material and communication to beneficiaries and stakeholders, with the aim of establishing the leading digital platform for community-based wellbeing services.
We are looking for an enthusiastic team player with the ability to develop, build and drive a marketing strategy to meet the goals of the digital platform development. The post holder will have a high level of marketing and communications skills, attention to detail, able to work independently, and with the ability to build connections with diverse audiences in the commercial, public and voluntary sectors.

Head of Finance and Operations
Location: The role is based at the Trust’s office in West Berkshire with a minimum of three days per week expected to be worked at our Newbury office. Flexible working arrangements are available with the understanding that this must meet the objectives of the charity and requirements of the role.

Purpose
This is an exciting and vital role performing a range of finance and governance tasks, working within the Senior Leadership Team of a leading mental health charity focused on supporting children and young people.
The Head of Finance and Operations (HFO) will be responsible for the successful management of the charity finances and operations, as well as making a leading contribution to the charity’s strategic direction. The role is responsible to the CEO, and activity oversight spans finance, HR, IT, and office management. The HFO is also responsible to the Trustees for the financial state of the charity and as Company Secretary. As a result, the HFO must working closely with the treasurer, members of the finance and investment committee, as well as the senior leadership team and our existing finance and operation colleagues.
We are looking for an highly motivated, efficient, diligent and confident finance professional with experience of managing a team. The role is varied and would suit a qualified accountant with experience of working collaboratively and compassionately with a range of colleagues to achieve organisational objectives. There will be opportunities to increase knowledge and the successful candidate could be supported to undertake further study.
Key responsibilities and duties
Strategy, modelling and leadership
- Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive financial strategy supporting the organisation’s wider strategic plan.
- Provide guidance and leadership on short and long-term financial decisions.
- Develop and monitor the implementation of long-range financial plans with the CEO, Board of Trustees and the Finance and Investment committee, to support organisational sustainability and growth.
- Provide leadership (including line management of at least one member of staff) to our small but invaluable finance and operations team comprising our finance and operations manager, finance assistant, and our office and IT coordinator.
Financial and Operational Management
- Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the organisation’s mission, vision and priorities.
- Streamline and optimise operational processes and systems to enhance efficiency, quality, and scalability while availing technological advancement. This includes systems, IT, CRM, Facilities and supplier management.
- Provide strategic financial guidance to the CEO, the Senior Leadership Team and the Board of Trustees.
- Monitor financial performance, identify risks, and recommend corrective actions.
- Optimise and manage the Trust’s working capital and cash flow position.

The role
As our Head of Finance, reporting into the CFO, you’ll lead the finance team, ensuring robust financial management and sustainability to support our charitable objectives. You will direct the day-to-day operations of the finance team, actively manage financial planning and forecasting, and develop high level models to support strategic and operational decision making. You will also input into strategy on a functional and organisational level.
What are we looking for?
You don’t need to follow football or understand about football and sports facilities to apply, but it is expected that you appreciate the power of sport to change lives and have a genuine interest in using your skills and experience to help the Foundation achieve our charitable and strategic objectives.
Here’s some of the experience and expertise you’ll need for the role:
· A professional accountancy qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with significant post-qualified financial and operational management experience.
· Prior experience in a senior level finance role with responsibility across the entire finance function, including hands on experience in delivering business partnering.
· Significant experience of financial planning and analysis.
· Commercial or charity accounting experience, including the preparation of statutory accounts, and preferably SORP compliance.
· Experience leading an end-to-end external audit process.
· Familiarity developing, improving and implementing financial procedures and controls.

What can we offer you?
The salary band for this role is £71,000 – £75,000 per annum, dependent on relevant skills and experience.

1. Background
Chance to Shine is a national children’s charity. We change young people’s lives through cricket giving them the opportunity to play, learn and develop through the sport. We keep them physically active, teach them vital skills like teamwork, communication and leadership. And above all, they have fun.
Since 2005 our Chance to Shine Schools programme has helped reverse the decline of cricket in state schools with millions of boys and girls in over 13,000 state schools playing and learning through cricket. Chance to Shine Street supports young people in under-served communities to access and benefit from cricket in a free, inclusive, fun and fast-paced tape ball environment.
The Fundraising Team is tasked with helping Chance to Shine achieve its ambition. Securing new funding partnerships and the stewardship of existing donors across a range of funding streams: Corporate, Events, Trusts and Foundations, Individual giving, and statutory funding to support the delivery of Chance to Shine programmes.
The Head of Fundraising role will play a key part in leading the Fundraising team to success.
This is an exciting time to be joining the Fundraising team as our programmes are well established with excellent support from key stakeholders, especially ECB and Sport England.
We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and pro-active individual with a strong track record in fundraising to help drive the charity forward. The role does not require an understanding of cricket but does require an enthusiasm towards changing children and young people’s lives. The role is office based at The Kia Oval, London, however we operate flexible working and as such team members currently work from the office on average about 2 days per week. The role of Head of Fundraising will need to be flexible to attend meetings with prospective supporters and stakeholders.
2. Purpose of the role
The Head of Fundraising will report into the Director of Strategy & Fundraising and will lead the Fundraising team to successfully deliver ambitious departmental plans which will form the cornerstone of what the charity is able to achieve.
The Head of Fundraising will work closely with the Director of Strategy & Fundraising to ensure that the Fundraising department’s work is well-aligned to wider organisational strategy. This will include setting ambitious, but realistic targets with clear implementation plans.
The core function of this role will be to lead and support each strand of the fundraising team; Individual Giving, Events, Trusts & Foundations and Corporates whilst being proactive in helping to source new opportunities to enable the team to thrive.
This role will be expected to deliver advice and guidance across all fundraising areas, helping to get the most out of a dynamic and passionate team.
In order to extend and enhance our work, the postholder will work closely other departments, partners and stakeholders.
3. Key Responsibilities
The Head of Fundraising responsibilities include:
• To develop and ambitiously build upon an annual income base of around £2.5m in private fundraising across all areas within the Fundraising team.
• To lead and manage the Fundraising team (currently seven employees) to achieve ambitious targets. With specific line management responsibilities for four team members in the areas of Corporate partnerships, Individual Giving, Trusts & Foundations and Events.
• To pro-actively source and secure new opportunities across all areas of Fundraising
• To support the CEO and Directory of Strategy & Fundraising to establish high-level partnerships, deputising where required.
• To work with the Director of Strategy & Fundraising to continually develop, manage and assess performance against plans within our Fundraising strategy.
• To identify and engage with other charity partners and organisations to find opportunities of mutual benefit to our income and programmes.
• Work with all other departments as necessary to ensure we successfully achieve our aims and ambitions both within Fundraising and the wider team.

WFN also raises awareness of the serious problems facing wildlife, landscapes, climate, and people, through promoting the work of winners. We focus support on nationals (leaders who were either born in the country where they work or have gained nationality) and aim to help build the capacity of successful local NGOs and grassroots work. We fund mainly in Africa, Asia, and Latin America where income is often hardest to access and can have the biggest impact for people and biodiversity. Our funding is raised each year, mainly from family foundations and trusts, as well as from individuals, corporates, and international NGOs, with a current annual income of £2.6m/year. WFN is governed by a committed trustee board. Our team is dynamic, passionate about our mission and ambitious. The charity benefits from high profile support from Patron, HRH The Princess Royal, and Ambassadors Sir David Attenborough, Kate Humble, Tom Heap, and Alastair Fothergill. The opportunity
“Saving our planet is now a communications challenge. We know what to do, we just need the will” Sir David Attenborough. WFN is a fundraising and grant-giving nature conservation charity. Established in 1993, we have channelled £23 million to 220 conservation leaders in 80 countries across the Global South, benefitting wildlife, landscapes, and people. We are now seeking to expand the team in line with our activities by recruiting a Communications Assistant to maintain and grow the organisation’s online communications across digital and social media platforms and support the team with office administration and event organisation. The post-holder should be keen to make a difference by working in a small team across an impactful organisation. They should have demonstratable skills in online communications and audience engagement, knowledge of wildlife conservation issues, experience with event organisation and the ability to support a vibrant team to flourish. The Communications Assistant will report to The Head of Communications with matrix management to the Operations Manager, dividing their time by working on communications 3 days p/w and office administration and charity events 2 days p/w. About the role:
As an Area Manager, you’ll lead and support shop teams across your designated area, made up of paid and voluntary staff. You will take full accountability for the profit of a mixed portfolio of shops in the Surrey and Middlesex area; this accountability extends to all income streams and controllable shop expenses. You will also be instrumental in developing and delivering, through your shop teams, high levels of supporter experience through well-presented shops and excellent supporter service. You’ll work closely with the Head of Retail and other Hospice colleagues in the day to day running of the business and contribute to all future development.
This is a full time, field-based role. You will have an office base but the majority of the working week will be spent in shops with a need to travel daily between your shops. You’ll need to hold a current driving license (maximum 6 penalty points). The role also includes working ad hoc weekends, as needs of the business require.
About You:
This position would ideally suit an experienced Area Manager, with a background in charity. However, we welcome applications form Area Managers with a solid background and transferable skills from the retail industry.
With proven people management experience, you will be confident, friendly, and possess excellent communication skills coupled with a high degree of competence in IT skills.
You will be self-motivated, able to handle conflict, problem solve and develop working relationships at all levels. Additionally, you will be extremely well organised, flexible and able to manage several tasks simultaneously.
