Westway Trust are seeking experienced and qualified part-time Adult Learning Tutors – Digital Skills to join their expanding tutor team to deliver accredited and non-accredited courses to adult learners in the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea (RBKC) area.

The primary responsibility of the Digital Skills Tutor will be to design and deliver high quality, learner-centred teaching, and learning and assessment experiences to our employed and unemployed adult learners from Entry level to Level 1, while supporting the Adult and Community Learning Manager to achieve the Trust’s strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

Teaching

• Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality teaching and learning sessions, workshops, and tutorials in line with the curriculum requirements and the needs of individual learners, ensuring learning objectives are met
• Assess learners’ abilities and identify areas for improvement, tailoring teaching and learning methods and resources accordingly
• Rigorously monitor and track learners’ progress, providing regular feedback and implementing strategies to address areas of weakness or underperformance
• Set and mark assignments, tests, and examinations, providing constructive feedback to learners to support their learning and improvement
• Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment, actively promoting learner participation, motivation, and confidence in professional development
• Maintain accurate records of learners' attendance, progress, and assessment outcomes, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal requirements

Administration

• To carry out and keep records of initial and diagnostic assessments, identifying areas for improvement, tailoring teaching and learning methods and resources accordingly
• To identify materials and equipment/resource needs to assist the provision of teaching and learning by students
• To develop differentiated Individual Learning Plans with students, monitor and track learners’ progress, providing regular feedback and strategically addressing areas of weakness maintaining up to date course files and submitting accurate data on attendance and achievement within agreed deadlines
• Preparing groups of learners for accredited assessment (exam or portfolio) & non-accredited assessment (RARPA), marking assessments and taking part in internal moderation and/or consultation meetings with appropriate Trust staff

Qualifications:

• Teaching or training qualification for working in adult learning (e.g. PTLLS, CTLLS, DTLLS or equivalent suitable experience)
• A minimum GCSE English Grade C or equivalent.
• Level 3 or higher in a relevant subject (e.g. ICT) or willingness to work towards a Digital Skills teaching qualification (desirable).

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Essential

• Practical work experience as an ICT Tutor, demonstrating hands-on knowledge and skills applicable to real-world scenarios
• Experience of teaching adult learners and an understanding of appropriate teaching strategies in a similar role
• Experience of devising course outlines and schemes of work
• Experience of managing mixed groups of learners
• Knowledge and experience of working with a variety of exam boards
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and the ability to work as part of a highly collaborative team

Desirable

• Understanding of the RARPA (Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement in non-accredited learning) system
• Experience of working/teaching refugees and or asylum seekers
• Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices to impart essential knowledge to students

The Role

We’re looking for an exceptional leader who can work alongside their Associate Director colleagues to drive the charity forwards, and to engage, coach and inspire our talented Heads of Department and their wider teams. This is an exciting moment as we embark on new strategies across brand, audience, and music and entertainment. You’ll play a pivotal role in finalising and embedding these plans and galvanising the team to deliver even greater impact for the young people we exist to serve.

Significant opportunity

We have a significant opportunity to put the tools into the hands of those working with Children, Young People and Families that will better equip them to see young lives transformed. 

Scripture Union are looking to appoint two Content Creators: One specialising in under 11s & families and one specialising in Young People.  You will see that our current portfolio is extensive, but we would like to ensure that we add to it with focused material (whether digital or physical, whether free or paid for).  You will both be involved in the creation of new content and in contracting other specialists who have skills in communicating to children and young people that we would like to develop.  Also, promoting those resources at various conferences and festivals to complement the work of our marketing team. 

Working Patterns

The role is remote with some travel to our Head Office at Trinity House Milton Keynes to collaborate face to face with the rest of the team. 

Part Time options can also be considered, but we will give priority to those who can work at least three days a week and a commitment for a physical presence in Milton Keynes as the role requires but no more than once weekly.   

Also, flexible working may be necessary when promoting resources.

We are looking for someone with experience of working with communities and a passion for delivering climate solutions which improve people’s lives. Do you enjoy working with diverse groups of people to help deliver projects which work for them? Are you excited to work with communities to unblock delivery of innovative local clean energy and heat projects that cut emissions and energy poverty, and empower communities to take control of their energy and heat provision? As our new Community Heat and Energy Project Manager, you’ll play a key role in delivering our major new community heat and energy workstrand. You’ll work with local communities and expert research partners to move forward local renewable energy projects which help power clean heat solutions at three different sites in England, as well as developing ways to remove barriers to delivering this type of project, such as supplying energy locally and matching supply and demand.

• Contract: 16 months at 4.5 days per week (or a nine-day fortnight if preferred). We are not accepting applications for job shares for this role. While we would like to extend the contract beyond 16 months, as this is a grant-funded role, we cannot currently offer this.

• Work status: We don’t have a sponsor licence, so we're unable to provide sponsorship for a work visa, and candidates are required to hold the right to work for the duration of the contract.

• Salary: £39,200 for a 4.5 day week (pro-rata’d from £43,556 FTE). This is band C3 on our pay scale. 

• Location: Some of the role will be site-specific. We are therefore open to candidates based anywhere in the UK, although some travel to project sites will be required, and there will be an  occasional requirement to attend our Camden office, although you would be welcome to work there more often.

• Working hours: 0.9 FTE, i.e. 4.5 days per week or a 9 day fortnight. Our core working days are Tuesday and Wednesdays, when all staff are required to work.

The Opportunity:   

The Aspiring Professionals Programme Coordinator (APPC) role will be well-suited to someone who is focused on the best ways they can help the aims of the charity as well as those of our participants and partners. An APPC is responsible for supporting the delivery and development of the Social Mobility Foundation’s programme of activities for young people through their S5-6/sixth form and university years.   
The SMF offers in-person and online support and opportunities, so this role will involve providing virtual and in-person support to students and working with employers across the UK.

Key Responsibility Areas:
1. Project Delivery 

• Deliver key projects including recruiting and onboarding students, creating digital resources and student events  
• Support with programme pilots, scoping (and delivering on) new activity   
• Collaborate and build relationships with our employer partners, schools, and universities to support our young people in their applications for university, internships and graduate roles  

 2. Monitoring and Evaluation  

• Maintain accurate records across relevant databases, updating data accurately and in a timely manner  
• Contribute to evaluation for key work areas (residentials, events, internships etc), produce high quality evaluation reports where required.

3. Stakeholder Management

• Communicate to internal and external stakeholders in a timely and professional manner  
• Proactively update external partners (i.e. employers) on your work areas, flagging risks in a timely manner with relationship managers  
• Manage internal student queries and maintain consistent stakeholder (e.g. students) processes through regular communication  

4. Activity Delivery  

• Coordinate planning and delivery of skills sessions, partner events, university visits, and other activities, both virtually and in person across the Social Mobility Foundation’s target cities across the UK

Ways of working:

• This role requires you to staff residentials for students on our Programme. This means that during the summer period (Jul – Aug) you will be expected to stay overnight on-site (in the UK - exact location to be confirmed closer to the time) for a period of up to two-weeks, help run the residential and be responsible for the welfare of the young people involved.

Travel:

• Some travel, to other offices and other locations, will occasionally be expected.

This entry-level role is open to 18-25-year-old young women* who have been affected by criminal exploitation and violence.
