Director of Service Transformation

As our Director of Service Transformation, you will lead the exciting next phase of transforming our charity’s services to reach more disabled children, young people and their families. You will be responsible for sourcing and delivering contracts and partnerships essential for the charity’s sustainability by advancing our digital outreach and nurturing new partnerships and securing sustainable funds for innovative models of support. 

What you will be doing as the Director of Service Transformation:

• Lead and execute services strategies and plans that extend and transform the impact and financial sustainability of the charity’s services and support for disabled children, young people and their families. 
• Lead the design, development and sales of innovative new service models and the scaling of existing services.
• Work closely with the other executive directors and leadership team to achieve the generation of an annual financial surplus to reinvest in Kids. 
• Ensure the quality and safe delivery of all Kids’ services. 
• Ensure effective budget management underpins service development and delivery.  Ensure contracts and tenders are commercially negotiated and regularly monitored. Work with colleagues to identify and achieve necessary margins on contracts and projects for financial sustainability. 
• Inspire and lead a high performing services team; support colleagues to test, learn and adapt as the charity evolves and transforms its digital and in-person support offer.
• Be an inspiring, visible and collegiate leader and team player who works across team boundaries to help drive organisational change and nurture colleagues’ ability to perform at their best. 
• Model and lead effective communications with all colleagues that bring to life the charity’s values and behaviours. Support colleagues to ensure Diversity, Equity and Inclusion principles and practice are evidenced in service design and delivery. 
• Act as an ambassador for Kids on key platforms, carrying out media work as required; promote the charity’s products, services and work; and draw from services expertise to influence public policy and legislation relevant to disabled children and their families.

The Role

As our Head of Finance, you will actively lead on the management of all aspects of the finance function to include;

· The production of interim and annual financial statements that comply with the requirements of the Charities SORP (FRS 102).

· Preparing all information and supporting documentation for the annual audit, and liaising with the National Audit Office, and the NFC’s external auditors.

· Supporting the internal audit process.

· Fulfilling the accounting and reporting requirements to Defra.

· Working closely with the Director of Corporate Services and Senior Leadership Team to develop strategic financial initiatives that support financial forecasting, goal setting and financial planning.

You will directly line manage the Finance Manager, ensuring the smooth operations of the finance function.

Your role will also involve:

· Preparing the annual budget

About You

To be considered as our Head of Finance, you will need:

· To be a qualified accountant with at least five years’ relevant experience

· Senior experience in the charity sector, including producing charity SORP compliant group accounts and monthly management accounts.

· Experience of the financial management of complex restricted funded projects

· Knowledge of charity trading and gift aid arrangements

· Good written and oral communication skills

About the role of Finance Manager

The Finance Manager is a core member of WCC's management team and is a key advisor and partner to the CEO on all areas of finance.  The post-holder will have responsibility for timely and efficient management of the day-to-day accounting function and all internal and external financial reporting.  Reporting directly to the CEO this role is part of a friendly, highly productive and collaborative, dedicated clinical and operational staff team of ten.

It is a varied and senior position that is part time, 3 days per week, and we are happy to discuss how the hours are worked over the week. It’s hybrid, working a minimum of one day per week in our Waterloo office. The salary is £45,000 to £48,000 pro rata, depending on experience.

The successful candidate will:

• Be a Fully Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, ICAEW etc).
• Have 5+ years PQE, preferably with charity sector/ fund accounting experience.
• Able to demonstrate working independently and as finance lead.

Duties and key responsibilities: 

Office Maintenance

• Oversee the general maintenance of the office.
• Manage office supplies by tracking office inventory and replenishing supplies including kitchen and stationery.
• Ensure the office and meeting rooms are well-maintained.
• Manage Sarcoma UK storage, ensuring it is fit for purpose.
• Liaise with office contractors and service providers to ensure the office runs efficiently.
• Assist with office refurbishments, expansions, and relocations.

Administration

• Be the first point of contact for all enquiries to our telephone switchboard and info@ mailbox, responding in a timely manner to all enquiries and delegating across the team where relevant.
• Manage the daily postal system including opening post and recording donations on the finance spreadsheet.
• Managing deliveries to the office and organising couriers.
• Organise travel and accommodation bookings across the whole charity including fundraising events.
• Organise travel, meetings and staff attendance at events including the British Sarcoma Group conference.
• Make any bookings and arrangements for the team that involve financial transactions, for example booking travel, conferences, training courses, flowers for supporters and event purchases.
• Provide meeting room management, including bookings and catering.
• Carry out ad hoc administrative tasks for other departments when requested e.g. fundraising and information send outs during busy periods or absence.

Health & Safety

• Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures, maintaining a safe working environment in the office. This
• Regular health and safety inspections of the office and workstations.

• Arranging regular PAT tests

Main responsibilities

• Ensure that all keys and equipment issued are signed for and are returned and stored as appropriate
• To provide administrative support for the housing team and to carry out general administrative tasks (using Microsoft Office and other platforms)
• To be responsible for the post at the weekend, ensuring incoming post is dated, and is distributed to appropriate staff and residents and that outgoing post is processed correctly

The Role

As an Active Sports Officer, you will assist in the day-to-day operation and management of The Hub, the largest, most popular outdoor sports facility in central London.

Delivering outstanding customer service, you will create opportunities for under-represented groups to engage in sport and physical activity, generating income from sports bookings, events and fitness licensing in Regent’s Park and Primrose Hill.

You will assist in ensuring that staff, contractors, coaches, volunteers and league organisers and programmes provide a safe, high-quality experience and respond to the needs of our users.

Main Responsibilities:

 Plan and deliver a structured programme of enjoyable, recreational, high-quality activities to meet the needs of children and young people with additional needs and disabilities who attend Short Breaks clubs

Lead and line manage a team of workers and volunteers, and to assist in the recruitment and training of the Disability sessional team

DESCRIPTION

Job Purpose:To coordinate and deliver an exciting range of Short Breaks activity clubs for children and young people aged5 - 17 with additional needs and disabilities at weekends and school holidays.

Term time hours: Wednesday – Sunday 09:00 – 17:00 or Tuesday – Saturday 09:00 – 17:00

School holidays hours: Monday – Friday 09:00 – 17:00

Location : Based at YMCA Sovereign Centre, Slipshatch Road, Reigate, RH2 8HA. Managing Short Breaks Schemes located in Epsom.

About the role:

As the Trusts and Foundations Fundraiser you will use your core knowledge and skill to reflect on strategy, relationship building and leading our charitable profile and income streams.

You will develop and influence strategy formation with supporters and other stakeholders to identify and actively seek out and engage trusts, foundations, and other funders by writing compelling and comprehensive funding bids, presentations, and applications.

You will work collaboratively with Senior Management Team to enhance stewardship to enable creative, effective, and appropriate activities to promote the development of sustainable engagement with supporters.

About you:

You will have demonstrable knowledge and experience of trusts and grants fundraising in a complex organisation as well as experience of prospecting, writing, and managing the application process. Ability to develop relationships with a broad range of stakeholders is vital.

In this role you will need excellent communication and IT skills together with demonstrable ability to plan, prioritise and work proactively. Understanding of the health/housing sector would be advantageous.

Knowsley Carers Centre is a growing charity, established in ~October 1997 to support the borough's 16000 unpaid/family carers.

A highly motivated and experienced person is required to raise awareness of the issues unpaid carers face with staff from the health and social care sectors.

Proven experience of the sector and an understanding of unpaid carers’ issues are essential along with the ability to work independently.

Job purpose

The purpose of the role is to raise awareness of the issues carers and young carers face and the services available to support them to health and social care staff across the borough and promote the identification and support of hidden carers in Knowsley.

The Health Link Worker will provide a conduit between Knowsley Carers Centre, health and social care teams and appropriate networks and forums that support carers’ interests.

Job Description

The Health Link Worker will:

• Provide information for and about carers and young carers to GP practices and health and social care teams.
• Assist in maintaining carers’ information boards in GP practices and at other health and social care locations.
• Continue to promote good practice guidance and steer relevant personnel at GP practices and other health settings through the guidance framework.
• Provide presentations, training and talks to health and social care staff on carers needs and include all aspects of caring within the awareness raising.
• Raise carer awareness in hospitals and develop carer friendly processes.
• Encourage carer participation on forums, groups and boards.
• Network with relevant organisations to raise awareness of carers issues.
• Assist in the delivery of carer awareness training in partnership with other members of the team.
• Work closely with other organisations such as Healthwatch.

As Grants Officer, you will:

• Secure income through funding applications to a range of large and small scale funders.
• Write high quality, compelling applications that are submitted on time and in line with funder requirements and eligibility criteria.
• Work with internal and external stakeholders to develop applications for funding and compile high quality content that is realistic, deliverable, and appropriately budgeted.
• Identify and obtain any support and advice required for the preparation, planning and management of funding applications.
• Develop information and guidance for internal and external stakeholders that supports the funding application process.
• Build and maintain relationships with funders to develop an understanding of the charity’s work.
• Identify new and existing funding opportunities that meet organisational priorities
• Maintain accurate monitoring and recording of data to evidence performance.

The essential qualities, skills and experience you will need to apply for this role:

• Experience of writing compelling, high quality funding applications to secure income from a range of funders.
• Experience of developing applications to major funders such as National Lottery, Sport England, central government and local authorities as well as smaller grants and trusts.
• Knowledge of various funders and ability to analyse and assess which opportunities are appropriate to consider.
• Skilled at presenting complex project information in a clear and engaging way.
• Exceptional communications skills, both written and verbal with the ability to produce concise, persuasive and engaging narrative.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team and encouraging this in others.
• Confidence to represent the organisation with partner agencies, funders and colleagues.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work co-operatively with others.
